3 Descripion of he cenrifuge The EBA 20 / EBA 20 C is a microprocessor-conrolled cenrifuge which is comprised of he following elecrical componens: Conrol panel Power board Moor wih speed sensor (speedomeer) Lid lock sysem Imbalance swich (only wih EBA 20 C) All elecronic componens are on mains, due o he DC-coupling Seuereil LED / Conrol panel LED Schniselle / Inerface EEPROM Nez / Mains Verschluß / Lid lock Deckelschaler Lid swich Unwuch Imbalance Drehzahlsensor (Tacho) speed sensor (speedomeer) Leisungseil Power board mi Mikroprozessorseuerung und Mooranseuerung wih microprocessor conrol and moor conrol Moor 6/31

3.1 Conrol panel A3 The conrol panel have only resriced conrol asks, i disposes of he following characerisics: Inpu panel for operaion parameers Indicaion elemens Transmission of he signals o he power board via he inerface. Soring of cenrifuge version Soring he machine version and he brake seing. By means of he machine version he power board is informed which kind of cenrifuge has o be conrolled. Then he power board akes he corresponding values from he ROM. e.g. Max. Speed Acceleraion and deceleraion ramps Communicaion wih he power board via TTL inerface. The power supply for he conrol panel is ransmied via he fla ribbon cable: Pin 1 GND Pin 4 +5V 3.2 Power board A1 The power board is an combinaion of: Conrol panel Volage supply Moor-conrol The power board carries ou he following asks: Power supply 15 V, DC for imbalance swich Power supply 5 V, DC for conrol panel and speed sensor Plugging saion of he moor Conrol of he moor wih riac phase-angle conrol Monioring of he moor curren. Braking of he moor wih brake resisor Plugging saion of he imbalance swich (only wih EBA 20 C) Evaluaion of he imbalance swich (only wih EBA 20 C) Plugging saion of he lid lock Conrol of he lid lock magne a sand sill of he roor. Evaluaion of he lid lock signal (lid open or closed). Communicaion wih he conrol panel via TTL inerface evaluaion. 3.3 Moor M1 The moor is conneced via a plug o he power board. The moor is a collecor-moor wih carbon brushes. The moor is conrolled by he power board. 7/31

3.4 Lid lock Y1 Opening of he lid lock is prevened by a lach. The lid lock can only be opened when he relay REL 602 on he power board is energised. This occurs when he roor is a sandsill, mains power is applied and he key is pressed. The solenoid is energized for hree seconds and releases he lach. The cenrifuge can only be sared when he lid is closed. A microswich on he lid lock deecs he posiion of he lid lock (open/closed) and repor i o he power board. 3.5 Imbalance swich S2 (only wih EBA 20 C) A microswich (break conac) deecs any imbalance. Imbalance can only be deeced in running mode (saring, cenrifuging and braking). If any imbalance is deeced, he drive is changed over o braking. 4 Troubleshooing procedures Fuses in insallaion in which cenrifuge is insalled are inac. Mains inpu fuses of cenrifuge are inac. Supply volage presen a (see circui diagram): Connecing cable Appliance plug Mains swich Power board A1, plug ST1.1 (L) and ST1.2 (N) Look for he displayed error code in he chaper " messages". Remedy he error according o he insrucions. Carry ou a funcional check afer every repair and whenever a componen is replaced, see chaper "Funcional check afer a repair". 8/31

Open he lid and press key or perform a MAINS RESET. 3 Imbalance Imbalance on moor axle Drive swich off and brakes wih he adjused brake level. consequence cause EBA 20: Plug ST6 is unplugged or has loose conac. Power board (A1) is defecive. EBA 20 C: Weigh difference in roor componens. Imbalance swich is defecive or no conneced. Imbalance swich is disadjused (Adjusmen see secion "Imbalance swich-off (only wih EBA 20 C)"). Loose conac in cable or plug ST6. Power board (A1) is defecive. 10/31

6 Seings and enquiries 6.1 Seing he machine version The machine version sored in he conrol panel mus correspond o he cenrifuge model. Conrol panels supplied as spare par are se o machine version 4 (ROTOFIX 32). Afer insalling he conrol panel he EBA 20 mus be se o machine version 1 and he EBA 20 C o machine version 5. If anoher machine version han 1 or 5 is se in he conrol panel, he se machine version will appear in he display afer swiching on he cenrifuge. Now he correc machine version has o be se as follows: 1. Se he correc machine version for EBA 20 or EBA 20 C by using he and keys beneah he ime indicaor. 2. Press he key in order o sore he se machine version. 14/31

6.2 Enquiry he machine version The enquiry of he machine version is only possible if he roor is a sandsill. 1. Swich off he mains swich. 2. Keep he key beneah he speed display and he key pressed simulaneously. 3. Swich on he mains swich and release he keys again. The speed indicaor shows he machine version and he ime indicaor shows he se brake sep: e.g.: EBA 20: EBA 20 C: If he machine version and brake sep are no displayed, press he key under he speed indicaor unil hey are displayed. 4. To exi he machine version display press he key or perform a MAINS- RESET. 15/31

6.3 Enquiry he programme versions The enquiry of he programme versions is only possible if he roor is a sandsill. 1. Swich off he mains swich. 2. Keep he key beneah he speed display and he key pressed simulaneously. 3. Swich on he mains swich and release he keys again. The speed indicaor shows he machine version and he ime indicaor shows he se brake sep. EBA 20: EBA 20 C: 4. Press he key beneah he speed indicaor so ofen unil he programme version of he conrol panel (e.g. b1.12) is displayed. 5. Press he key beneah he speed indicaor again. The programme version of he power board (e.g. C1.03) is displayed. 6. To exi he programme versions display press he key or perform a MAINS- RESET 16/31

6.4 Seing he brake sep The seing of he brake sep is only possible if he roor is a sandsill. 1. Swich off he mains swich. 2. Keep he key beneah he speed display and he key pressed simulaneously. 3. Swich on he mains swich and release he keys again. The speed indicaor shows he machine version and he ime indicaor shows he se brake sep: e.g.: EBA 20: EBA 20 C: If he machine version and brake sep are no displayed, press he key under he speed indicaor unil hey are displayed. 4. Se he desired brake sep wih he keys beneah he ime display. Sep 1 = shor run-down ime, Sep 0 = long run-down ime. For run-down imes, see chaper "Anhang/Appendix, Roor und Zubehör/Roor and accessories" in he operaing insrucions. 5. Press he key o save he seing. 17/31

6.5 Locking he inpu of he speed, ime and brake sep and locking he key (only wih EBA 20 C) Locking of he key and locking of he inpu of he speed, ime and brake sep is only possible wih machines wih machine version 5 (EBA 20 C) and a programme version of he conrol panel from b1.40. The acivaion and deacivaion of he lock is only possible if he roor is a sandsill. 1. Swich off he mains swich. 2. Keep he key beneah he speed display and he key pressed simulaneously. 3. Swich on he mains swich and release he keys again. The speed indicaor shows he machine version and he ime indicaor shows he se brake sep: If he machine version and brake sep are no displayed, press he key under he speed indicaor unil hey are displayed. 4. Keep he key pressed and hen press he key beneah he speed indicaor. In he speed indicaor he leer "c" is displayed, his means ha he inpu of he speed, ime and brake sep is now locked and he keys and are deacivaed. To deacivae he lock also keep he key pressed and hen press he key beneah he speed display. 5. Press he key o save he seing. 6.6 Lid lock conrol The lid can be opened when he roor is a sandsill and he key solenoid on he lid lock remains energized for hree seconds. is pressed. The 18/31

6.7 Imbalance swich-off (only wih EBA 20 C) The permissible imbalance is specified for roor E1824 by he indicaion of he difference in weigh of opposie roor posiions. Tighen boh screws a he angle bracke of he imbalance swich again. Check he imbalance swich-off wih a es run. 7 Change mains inpu fuse Swich off he mains swich and separae he cenrifuge from he mains! Place he upper par carefully beside he cenrifuge. 10.1 Replacing he carbon brushes Always replace boh carbon brushes a he same ime! Lif pressure spring away from he carbon brush. Pull he carbon brush ou of he holder. Remove carbon dus. Inser new carbon brush ino he holder.
