FMU Floor Mixing Unit FMU - Floor Mixing Unit The FMU Floor Mixing Unit is a pre-assembled competitively priced manifold designed for underfloor heating systems. Enabling you to purchase more simply, involves less risk and administration and will reduce installation time. Included in the FMU Floor Mixing Unit is a TM Thermostatic Control Group, Lowara Ecocirc circulating pump, temperature gauge, mounting brackets and swivel joints for connection to the manifold assembly. Available from way - way fixed at mm with options of either flowmeters or locksheilds on the flow rail. Both the flowmeters (FM) and locksheilds (LS) are double regulating with isolation function. The return rail has a blue capped integrated electrothermic body (ready for the electrothermic head) per circuit. The TM thermostatic mixer included in the FMU Floor Mixing Unit ensures that hot water from the heat source and return water from the underfloor circuit are mixed together in the valve body to produce a range of temperatures from o C to o C. This range of temperatures suits a wide range of underfloor heating applications, from commissioning new floor screeds to operating with very thick floor screeds in commercial applications. Another key component to the FMU is the Lowara Ecocirc pump. High efficiency single wet rotor circulators with fixed or variable speed and threaded connections. The Ecocirc is a high efficiency circulator using a shaft less spherical motor design. This design combine s high efficiency and low noise. The Ecocirc is, ErP compliant It also has a high magnetite resistance due to the revolutionary Anti-Block technology prolonging the life span of the pump. The unique design of the internal mixing valve components ensure that hot water from the heat source and return water from the underfloor circuit are mixed together in the valve body to produce a temperature range between C to C. This temperature range suits a range of underfloor heating applications from commissioning new floor screeds to operating with very thick screed in commercial applications. The mixing valve has almost closed off the primary hot water and is mixing a higher proportion of return water into the mixing chamber which reduces the mixed water temperature right down to o C if required. The mixing unit pressure drop curves show the Flow Increase Valve settings from fully closed to fully open and allow the installer/ designer to choose a suitable flow rate and pressure drop to suit the system. Together with the calculated pressure drop of the underfloor system and manifold, the pump setting can then be chosen. The tables below show two examples of required system output against the Flow Increase Valve setting based on assumed values of underfloor flow temperature, temperature drop and pressure drop for the underfloor system for guidance. The side flow of the wet running circulators, which is required for lubrication and cooling of the bearing is separated from the main flow which contains the magnetite and sludge.
