IN CASE OF EMERGENCY INVOLVING A MAJOR SPILL, FIRE OR POISONING, CALL 1-800-327-8633 (FASTMED) GENERAL INFORMATION VELISTA Fungicide is a water dispersible granular that may be applied as a foliar or broadcast treatment to control certain diseases on landscape and recreational (including golf course) turfgrass. VELISTA Fungicide may only be used on turf grasses that are being grown for aesthetic or recreational purposes, in or around home lawns, residential dwellings, business and office complexes, shopping complexes, multi-family residential complexes, institutional buildings, airports, cemeteries, ornamental gardens, parks, playgrounds, schools, golf courses (tee box areas, roughs, fairways, greens, collars etc.), athletic fields, other landscaped areas, and commercial sod farms.

Page 7 of 11 The active ingredient in VELISTA Fungicide is Penthiopyrad and it is a carboxamide fungicide. Penthiopyrad inhibits fungal respiration by binding to mitochondrial respiratory complex II. Penthiopyrad is not cross-resistant with other classes of fungicide chemistry, like triazoles and other ergosterol biosynthesis inhibitors, strobilurins and other complex III (QoI) inhibitors, anilinopyrimidines, dicarboximides, benzimidazoles and N-phenylcarbamates. APPLICATION TIMING VELISTA Fungicide is a broad spectrum fungicide recommended for the control of many important diseases of turfgrass. For maximum performance VELISTA Fungicide should be applied preventatively but also may be used curatively for some diseases. MIXING DIRECTIONS The use directions provided in the Resistance Management section of this label should be followed. All applications should follow the use directions given in this label. Failure to follow the use directions may result in turfgrass injury and/or inadequate disease control. Basic Mixing Instructions: Important: Application equipment must be clean and free of previous pesticide deposits before mixing VELISTA Fungicide. 1. Use clean, well maintained application equipment. 2. Fill sprayer tank 1/4 to 1/2 full of water. 3. Then add VELISTA Fungicide directly to the mixing or sprayer tank. 4. Mix thoroughly to fully disperse the VELISTA Fungicide and continue agitation to keep the product in suspension. Use mechanical or hydraulic agitation. Do not use air agitation. 5. The mixture should not be stored in the mixing or spray tank overnight. APPLICATION EQUIPMENT CLEANING Prior to application, start with clean, well maintained application equipment. Immediately following application, thoroughly clean all application equipment to reduce the risk of forming hardened deposits that might become difficult to remove. Drain application equipment. Thoroughly rinse application equipment and flush hoses, boom and nozzles with clean water. Clean all other associated application equipment. Take all necessary safety precautions when cleaning equipment. Do not clean equipment near wells, water sources or desirable vegetation. Dispose of waste rinse water in accordance with local regulations. APPLICATION DIRECTIONS FOR TURFGRASS USE VELISTA Fungicide IN A PREVENTATIVE DISEASE CONTROL PROGRAM Apply in sufficient water to ensure thorough coverage. Apply the recommended rates as indicated in the directions for use using up to 40 L/ 100 m2 or 4,000 L/ha. Apply with a properly calibrated sprayer. Apply after mowing OR allow sprayed area to completely dry before mowing.

Page 8 of 11 For control of foliar diseases, allow sprayed area to completely dry before irrigation. Under conditions optimum for high disease pressure, use the higher rate. For optimum turf quality and disease control, use VELISTA Fungicide in conjunction with turf management practices that promote good plant health and optimum disease control. Before use of any fungicide, proper diagnosis of the organism causing the disease is important. Use of diagnostic kits or other means of identification of the disease organism is essential to determine the best control measures. For broader spectrum control, VELISTA Fungicide can be tank mixed with other fungicides registered for this use. Check compatibility before tank mixing. Observe all directions, precautions, and limitations on labeling of all products used in tank mixes. The most stringent precautions of tank mix products must be followed. Field sprayer application: DO NOT apply during periods of dead calm. Avoid application of this product when winds are gusty. DO NOT apply with spray droplets smaller than the American Society of Agricultural Engineers (ASAE) fine classification. Boom height must be 60 cm or less above the crop or ground. Buffer zones: Use of the following spray methods or equipment DO NOT require a buffer zone: hand-held or backpack sprayer, spot treatment, inter-row hooded sprayer, soil drench and soil incorporation. The buffer zones specified in the table below are required between the point of direct application and the closest downwind edge of sensitive freshwater habitats (such as lakes, rivers, sloughs, ponds, prairie potholes, creeks, marshes, streams, reservoirs and wetlands) and estuarine/marine habitats. Method of Application Field sprayer Crop Turf Buffer Zone (meters) Dequired for the Protection of: Freshwater Habitat of Depths Estuarine/Marine Habitats of Depths: Less than 1 m Greater than 1 m Less than 1 m Greater than 1 m 10 3 1 1 For tank mixes, consult the labels of the tank-mix partners and observe the largest (most restrictive) buffer zone of the products involved in the tank mixture and apply using the coarsest spray (ASAE) category indicated on the labels for those tank mix partners. Page 10 of 11 DO NOT apply this product on food or feed crops. INTEGRATED PEST MANAGEMENT The use of an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program is recommended to control diseases. VELISTA Fungicide may be used as part of an Integrated Disease and Pest Management (IPM) program which can include biological, cultural, and genetic practices aimed at reducing potential disease incidence. Cultural practices known to reduce disease development should be followed. Application of this product should be based on IPM principles and practices including but not limited to field scouting or other detection methods, correct target disease identification, population monitoring, advisory (disease forecasting) programs that recommend treatment timing based on environmental factors favorable for disease development, and treating when disease pressure reaches locally determined action levels. Consult your extension services, professional consultants, or other qualified authorities to determine the appropriate management, cultural practice and treatment threshold levels for the specific crop, geography and diseases. RESISTANCE MANAGEMENT RECOMMENDATIONS: For resistance management, please note that VELISTA Fungicide contains a Group 7 Fungicide. Any fungal population may contain individuals naturally resistant to VELISTA Fungicide and other group 7 Fungicides. A gradual or total loss of pest control may occur over time if these fungicides are used repeatedly in the same fields. Other resistance mechanisms that are not linked to site of action but specific for individual chemicals, such as enhanced metabolism, may also exist. Appropriate resistance management strategies should be followed. To delay fungicide resistance: Where possible, rotate the use of VELISTA Fungicide or other Group 7 fungicides with different groups that control the same pathogens. Use tank mixtures with fungicides from different groups when such use is permitted. Fungicide use should be based on an IPM program that includes scouting, historical information related to pesticide use and crop rotation and considers host plant resistance, impact of environmental conditions on disease development, disease thresholds, as well as cultural, biological and other chemical control practices. Where possible, make use of predictive disease models to effectively time fungicide applications. Monitor treated fungal populations for resistance development. Notify Syngenta Canada if reduced sensitivity of the pathogen to VELISTA FUNGICIDE is suspected. If disease continues to progress after treatment with this product, do not increase the use rate, Discontinue use of this product, and switch to another fungicide with a different target site of action, if available. Contact your local extension specialist or certified crop advisors for any additional pesticide resistance-management and/or IPM recommendations for specific crops and pathogens.

Page 11 of 11 For further information or to report suspected resistance, contact company representatives at 1-87-SYNGENTA (1-877-964-3682) or at www.syngenta.ca. VELISTA TM is a trademark of a Syngenta Group Company.
