HYDROSURGE BATH PRO TM 5.1 UNIT COMPONENTS Flow Control Valve Water-in Hose Mounting Bracket Mounting Bracket Wall Anchors (a) (b) (c) Screw 1¼ (d) Large (e) Bath Pro TM 5.1 Unit Male Hose Fitting Anti-Siphon Valve Wall Clamp Wall Clamp (f) (g) (h) (j) Screws 1 (k) Bathing Hose with Hose Clip Tubing Cap Adaptors Plastic Ties Nozzle (l) (m) (n) (p) (r) Tie Screws Wall Anchors End Cap ¾ (s) Small (t) (u) BEFORE STARTING 1. Please read and understand all instructions prior to beginning installation. If there are any questions, please call customer service at 1-800-532-1468. 2. The HydroSurge Bath Pro TM 5.1 unit is designed to draw shampoo with as little as 4 gallons of water per minute; however, 5 or more gallons of water per minute is recommended. To test, hold a gallon sized container under the water source. If the container takes less than 12 seconds to fill, the water flow/pressure is adequate. Please review CAUSES FOR LOW WATER PRESSURE on page 9 if the water pressure is inadequate. - 3 -

INSTALLING A HYDROSURGE BATHPRO TM 5.1 UNIT 1. Determine a mounting location for the HydroSurge Bath Pro TM 5.1 unit within 5 feet of the water supply. If the preferred mounting location is greater than 5 feet from the water supply, a water-in hose extension will be necessary and is available for purchase by calling customer service at 1-800-532-1468. TIP: The Bath Pro 5.1 unit should be mounted at a convenient height and within easy reach to the left or right of the operator, whichever is closest to the water supply. There must be sufficient room below the Bath Pro 5.1 unit to allow for the bathing hose and tubing that connects to the product containers. TIP: Do not mount the BathPro 5.1 unit on the back wall of the tub where it may be subject to damage from biting or chewing animals. TIP: If an anti-siphon valve will be used, (step 9), consider that some water draining may occur. Consider mounting the unit over an area with drainage. 2. Attach the flow control valve (a) to the water source. The water source must have a male garden hose fitting; if it does not, a male garden hose fitting adaptor can be purchased inexpensively at a local hardware store. TIP: T&S Brass and Bronze Works, Inc. faucet fixtures have unique thread patterns and will only connect to garden hose adaptors that are sold by T&S Brass and Bronze Works, Inc. TIP: Use Teflon tape to help ensure a water tight fitting when connecting a pipe to a pipe fitting adaptor. TIP: Consider installing an elbow fitting between the water source and the flow control valve to keep the waterin hose close to the wall. 3. Attach the water-in hose (b) to the flow control valve (a). 4. While holding the mounting bracket (c) in the preferred mounting location, mark the screw holes. Secure the mounting bracket using the mounting bracket screws (d) ensuring that the tabs are pointing upwards. Plastic wall anchors - large (e) are provided if needed. TIP: When mounting on tile, use the grout line rather than drilling directly into the tile. TIP: Use the correct size and type drill bit for the mounting hardware and surface. Do not make the holes too large. TIP: Consider placing plumbers putty or bath tub sealant at the mounting holes, prior to installing the Bath Pro TM 5.1 unit to prevent water seepage through the mounting holes into the wall. 5. Align the slots on the back of the Bath Pro TM 5.1 unit (f) with the tabs on the mounting bracket (c) and lower to engage the tabs. 6. Route the open end of the water-in hose (b) to the top of the Bath Pro TM 5.1 unit (f). Cut off any excess hose, leaving enough slack to prevent the hose from crimping. 7. Remove the clamp from the male hose fitting (g) by removing the two screws. Soak the end of the hose in very warm water one minute to soften and insert the male hose fitting into the open end of the water-in hose (b). 8. Replace the fitting clamp on the male hose fitting (g) and secure it with the two screws. Alternate tightening each screw slightly. The two halves of the male hose fitting will not be touching even when the hose is securely fastened. Be careful not to over tighten the screws. - 4 -

9. Some local ordinances require the use of an anti-siphon valve. The anti-siphon valve (h) that is included in the installation packet is adequate for most, but not all, municipalities. Please consult with a plumber to determine local requirements. If required, attach the anti-siphon valve to the male hose fitting (g). Attach either the anti-siphon valve, if used, or the male hose fitting to the top of the Bath Pro TM 5.1 unit (f). 10. Use the supplied wall clamps (j) and wall clamp screws (k) to secure the water-in hose (b) to the wall. One of these clamps should be located near the Bath Pro TM unit. Plastic wall anchors - large (e) are provided if needed. 11. Connect the bathing hose with nozzle (l) to the bottom of the Bath Pro TM 5.1 unit (f). 12. Check all connections and tighten completely with pliers or a wrench as necessary. 13. Attach the hose clip (m) to either the left or right side of the Bath Pro TM 5.1 unit using one of the hose clip screws already inserted in the side of the unit. 14. Place the four gallon bottles of shampoo/conditioner in a convenient location that is close to and below the Bath Pro TM 5.1 unit (f). Connect the tubing (n) over the fitting labeled A located on the bottom of the Bath Pro TM 5.1 unit. Route the tubing to the top of one of the product bottles. Cut the tubing to length ensuring it is neither taught nor excessively loose. Repeat this step for the fittings labeled B, C, and D. TIP: For covenant cleaning and maintenance, leave enough tube length for the gallon bottle to reach the floor and the bottom of the tub. TIP: If you have any questions regarding the placement of bottles, or if you want to purchase additional tubing and/or a shampoo storage rack, please call customer service at 1-800-532-1468. 15. Attach the four cap adaptors (p) to the end of the tubes. Remove the caps from the four gallon containers. Each gallon comes with an insert; the combination of the insert and the cap adaptor prevents contamination caused by foreign matter including hair and dirt as well as makes changing gallons quick and convenient. Screw the cap adapters completely onto the gallon containers by pushing down while turning the cap adaptor clockwise. When changing gallons containers, rinse the cap adaptor before replacing. 16. Only HydroSurge branded products can be used with the Bath Pro TM 5.1 unit. Use of other products is a violation of the Terms and Conditions of the free equipment usage program. Non-HydroSurge branded products can clog the system. Required repairs due to use of non- HydroSurge products are subject to a maintenance fee as outlined in the Terms and Conditions agreement up to and including the cost of the equipment. 17. Organize the tubing by using the plastic ties (r); anchor the ties to the wall using the tie screws (s) and wall anchors - small (t) if needed. - 5 -

FIRST TIME OPERATION - PRIMING THE SYSTEM 1. Select Rinse on the function selector. 2. Turn the water on and open the water flow valve. 3. Check for any leaks and tighten any connections as necessary. 4. Select product A on the product selection dial; this will correspond to the product attached to the tube labeled A at the bottom of the unit. 5. Select Bathe on the function selector. Open the product flow rate valve by turning the knob counter clock-wise completely until it stops. Never force this knob once it stops turning. Product should now be traveling through the product supply tube from the gallon container. 6. Once there are suds coming from the spray nozzle, close the product flow rate valve by turning the knob clockwise until it stops (approximately 6 rotations). 7. When there are only air bubbles and no suds coming from the spray nozzle, open the product flow rate valve by turning the knob counter-clockwise ¼ turn of one rotation and wait 10 seconds to allow the unit to adjust to the new setting. If there are still no suds coming out of the spray nozzle, open the product flow rate valve by turning the knob another ¼ turn of one rotation and wait another 10 seconds. If necessary, continue opening the valve in ¼ turn increments waiting 10 seconds to allow the unit to adjust. TIP: Most facilities require between ½ and 1½ rotations of the product flow rate knob. Needs will vary based on water flow, the length of tubing, the placement of the shampoo/conditioner containers, and the temperature of the products. While the product flow rate valve can be opened six complete rotations, for most facilities, this would draw far more product than is required to effectively clean an animal. TIP: The amount of shampoo needed should be just enough to break up the oils that hold the dirt in the hair. The vigorous action of the bathing solution physically removes the dirt from the animal. 8. Repeat the priming process for products B, C, and D. - 6 -

BATHING INSTRUCTIONS 1. Select Rinse on the function selector. Turn on your water and open the flow control valve so that water is flowing through the system. Adjust the water temperature to the desired setting. At any time during the bathing procedure the water flow can be turned off or reduced by using the flow control valve. TIP: Turn off the water at the water source when not in use for longer periods of time. The flow control valve is intended to provide a temporary shut off or reduction in water flow. 2. Select a product using the product selection dial. TIP: Use the most appropriate shampoo / conditioner for the animal being bathed. A complete line of HydroSurge shampoos and conditioners are available to address a wide array of coat and skin conditions. 3. Select Bathe on the function selector to infuse product into the water. 4. There is no need to pre-wet the animal. Hold the spray nozzle 3 to 4 inches from the animal s coat. The vigorous flow of oxygenated water / shampoo mixture will penetrate through the hair to the skin. Hand scrubbing is not necessary. Move the spray nozzle back and forth with a slow, steady motion, angling the spray pattern against the grain of the hair to ensure a thorough cleaning. TIP: Animals suffering from various skin conditions, arthritis, hip dysphasia, or other back, bone, or muscle problems can benefit from a warm holistic / therapeutic bath. Concentrate the spray in a circular motion on areas that are affected. TIP: Follow a slow methodical, top to bottom, and side to side pattern to ensure a thorough cleaning and relaxing massage for the animal. 5. Turn the animal after finishing one side and continue bathing the other side. TIP: Use a leash tie-down bar installed 12 inches above the tub rim to allow the animal to be turned easily. TIP: For extremely dirty and greasy animals, a quick bath using an ultra cleaning or degreasing formula shampoo is recommended. Without rinsing the animal first, follow this with a more thorough bath using an everyday use shampoo formula. 6. Switch from using one product to another by turning the product selection dial. It is not necessary to turn off the water first. TIP: Use the flow control valve to reduce water pressure when washing or rinsing an animal s face. For best results and safety, hand wash the animal s face with HydroSurge Aloe-Tearless shampoo. TIP: Flea and tick shampoos require that the animal be covered in lather for a specified amount of time to work. First bathe the animal using the Bath Pro TM 5.1 unit and a HydroSurge branded shampoo to thoroughly clean the animal and effectively wash away most parasites. Follow bottle instructions to hand apply the flea and tick shampoo. Use the Bath Pro TM 5.1 unit to efficiently rinse the animal. 7. After thoroughly bathing the animal, turn the function selector to Rinse. Within seconds, the combing action will consist of only oxygenated water. Repeat the methodical, slow, top to bottom, side to side action. Apply conditioner as needed. 8. When the Bath Pro TM 5.1 unit is not in use, the function selector should be left in the Rinse position. TIP: To quickly eliminate suds when draining bath water, use HydroSurge Suds-a-Way. Excessive suds may result from soft water or using more shampoo than necessary. - 7 -

SYSTEM MAINTENANCE & PROBLEM SOLVING Prevent Leaks: Tighten the fittings and replace the hose washer as necessary. Tighten Knob: If the product flow rate knob on your Bath Pro TM 5.1 unit becomes loose, tighten the set screw using a 1/16 Allen wrench. Bottles Collapse: If a product bottle collapses, make a pin hole in the bottle above the product level. Cold or Frozen Product: During cold weather, shampoos and conditioners can become more viscous or even freeze during transportation. In order to return product to room temperature, place the cold gallons in a dog kennel and hang a cage dryer set on high for approximately 30 minutes. If no cage dryer is available, set the gallon container in a sink and run warm water over the outside of the container. Always store products at room temperature. Lubricate the Valves: Every month or as necessary, place a few drops of household oil on the valve stems located behind the product selection dial and product flow rate valve knob. Clean the Spray Nozzle: Every month or as necessary, remove the spray nozzle from the bathing hose. Push the end of a paperclip through each hole and clean with a household lime and calcium cleaner. Rinse thoroughly ensuring that all debris is removed from around the nozzle holes. Clean the Screen Washer: Every three months or as necessary, use a toothbrush to clean the screen washer, located at the end of the water in-hose attached to the flow control valve. Back Flush the System: Product coagulation may cause blockage if either the system or any single product has not been used for an extended period of time. Dirt or hair may also occasionally cause blockage. If a blockage exists, there will be little or no suds coming out of the spray nozzle even when the product flow rate valve is fully open. Take the following steps to back-flush the system: 1. Remove the spray nozzle from the bathing hose and replace it with the end cap (u). 2. Detach the cap adaptors from the blocked product and place into the tub or a bucket. 3. Select the blocked product on the product selection dial. 4. Open the product flow rate valve by turning the knob counter clockwise until it stops. Never force this knob once it stops turning. 5. Select Bathe on the function selector and slowly turn on the water. TIP: For best results use very warm water. 6. Open and close the product flow rate valve by turning the knob clockwise and counterclockwise in order to help dislodge any debris in the valve. The blockage has been removed when there is a steady stream of water coming from the line. 7. If more than one product is blocked, repeat the process. If problems persist, please call customer service at 1-800-532-1468. - 8 -

IMPORTANT INFORMATION 1. All Bath Pro 5.1 components are designed to work as part of a complete bathing system. They must be installed in the proper order, relative to each other, as outlined in these instructions. Placement of components in alternate configurations may result in system malfunction: water back up, excessive pressure, and flooding may result from improper installation. 2. Do not interchange any components of the Bath Pro 5.1 system including hoses and nozzles with any non-hydrosurge components. Use all components only as intended. 3. Do not operate the Bath Pro 5.1 unit if there are any leaks in the system. 4. Do not expose the Bath Pro 5.1 unit to temperatures below 40 degrees Fahrenheit. 5. The Bath Pro 5.1 unit contains no user serviceable parts. Repairs must be done by authorized service personnel only. Opening the Bath Pro 5.1 unit and attempting repairs or tampering with any component of the HydroSurge Bath Pro unit is a violation of the Terms and Conditions of the free equipment usage program. CAUSES OF LOW WATER PRESSURE If the water flow/pressure is too low to provide for adequate bathing/rinsing, there could be several causes: The main pressure regulator may be set too low; resolve by resetting the pressure regulator. The water supply mixing valve may have a built in flow restrictor; resolve by removing the restrictor. A flow restricted anti-siphon valve may be installed at the water supply; resolve by installing an anti-siphon valve that does not restrict flow. The water pressure may be low coming into the building; resolve by installing a pressure booster pump. Consult with a plumber as necessary.
