Design and Functional Description Construction The laboratory climate test chambers System Weiss are supplied ready for connection. Compact design means a minimum of space is required. Three test chamber volumes of 34, 64 and 100 l are available. The chambers are available with different temperature ranges. The 34/60 and 64/70 designs are provided with a base on castors. For all remaining chambers this base is optionally available. Exterior Housing Illustration includes optional equipment The self-supporting exterior housing of the unit is made from corrosion-resistant, galvanised sheet-steel and coated with RAL 9002 greywhite. The environmentally-friendly insulation between test chamber and exterior housing guarantees best insulation values and thus lowest possible operating costs.

Test Chamber The test chamber consists of a stainless-steel container and is welded vapour-tight. The test chamber is easy to clean thanks to special welding. The rear test chamber wall incorporates a recirculated-air duct with built-in humidification/dehumidification system, built-in heat exchanger, electric heaters and a recirculated air fan. The special air flow via baffle plates in the test chamber floor and ceiling produces optimum ambient air and temperature distribution. Test space illumination is provided. Test Chamber Door The test chamber is completely sealed by a door with observation window that is hinged on the left. The door is provided with high quality insulation and it opens fully for easy access. An optimum seal is guaranteed by special profile seals and a self-tightening locking mechanism which is operable with one hand. An ideal contact pressure is guaranteed. Access Port All chambers have one access port (approx. 50 mm ) made of low thermal conductivity material. The port is installed in the right side wall and can be used for measuring and control wires, other supply connections or accessories. If not required, the port is closed with the rubber plug supplied as standard.

Temperature and Humidity Conditioning The large axial fan with exterior drive motor draws the air out of the space. This recirculating air passes a fin-type heat exchanger, which cools the air, if necessary. The special design of the refrigerating system avoids unintended condensation precipitation at the heat exchanger during climatic operation and guarantees highest temperature and humidity constancies in time. An electrical heater, installed in front of the heat exchanger in air direction, is heating-up the recirculating air. The humidification is effected via an temperature conditioning humidification bath, which enables an aerosol-free humidification. Psychrometric Humidity Measuring The humidity of the test space air is measured according to the internationally valid psychrometric measuring principle with two resistance thermometers Pt 100 according to DIN IEC 751. Dry and wet bulb sensors are arranged next to each other in the recirculating air flow. Depending on the climate the material of the wet bulb sensor is humidified. The life time is increased considerably due to selfcleaning mechanism!

Control and Programming Simpac is a self-monitoring, digital 32 bit measuring and control system and has been designed especially for the use in environmental test systems. Thanks to its computing efficiency Simpac meets the requirements of process technology; the input is facilitated by the control panel designed by Weiss Umwelttechnik. 3.5 colour touch panel * plain text display * password protection * manual operation * creation of programs by means of the integrated program editor * calls saved test programs * software temperature limiter for min. and max. test space temperatures * programs error plain text report System Simpac handles all the functions necessary for control and programming. In addition to temperature and humidity control it also contains an efficient Software PLC according to ENG 1131 standard, which coordinates, monitors all functions and provides information on operating failures. Two customer protocols (ASCII-1, ASCII-2 and SimServe) are integrated in the test chamber. A host customer system allows the test chamber to be controlled and monitored via an Ethernet / RS 232 interface (optional) and the customer protocols. The standard climate chambers can be controlled via the ASCII-1 and ASCII-2-Basic protocols. It is possible to control each test chamber extension via the ASCII-2-Dynamic and SimServe protocols. The ASCII-2-Dynamic protocol can be modified by programming the host customer system accordingly.

Additional Safety Devices Specimen Protection The climate test chamber is equipped with a upper and lower temperature protection (specimen protection with separate sensor) according to EN 60519-2 (1995). The signal is indicated visually and acoustically. A potentialfree contact to switch off power supplies is available to the customer. Permanently Memorised Overheating Safety Thermostat A steady state overheating safety thermostat is installed that automatically switches off the heater if the test chamber's maximum temperature range is exceeded.

Power Supply Each functional circuit is equipped with its own safety device, which, in the event of trouble, turns off the affected circuit or the entire chamber. The nature of the trouble is visually displayed. Wiring and electrics are governed by the latest technology and strictly conform to safety regulations for electrical installations and materials, as well as to relevant VDE regulations. The climate test chambers, SYSTEM WEISS, are standardly equipped with a lockable main switch according to VDE.

General In the constant effort to improve our product, we reserve the right to make construction or design changes without notice or obligation. Please note that for installation of the climate test chamber (for components which jut out, such as: hinges, locks, etc.) the clearance requirements indicated in the technical data must be observed. The chamber is designed to be installed in normal rooms. The max. admissible ambient temperature for storage and installation is +40 C. 1 The admissible ambient temperature for operation of the chamber is between +10 C and +27 C. The performance data indicated were determined with empty test space and refer to an appliance without additional ports or devices, which represent a thermal load with an ambient temperature of max. +25 C. Performance data cannot be guaranteed in ambient conditions other than those stated. Accuracy rates are proven in the test space centre, in steady state, without specimens, without radiation and without additional equipment in the test space. The cooling down rate stated refers to the temperature range without controlled humidity. The metallic materials used in the test device are corrosion-resistant within the temperature and climate working range indicated. If additional corrosive stress is generated by use of the test device (e.g. aggressive gases or liquids escaping the test specimen or other installations on site, corrosive specimens etc.) materials of a higher quality may have to be applied and/or additional measures may have to be taken, such as a concentration reduction by outer air purging. 1 applies to refrigerants R 404 A and R 507; the temperature for R 134 a and R 23 is approx. +75 C (+167 F).

Depending on the corrosive stress, it might be necessary to perform additional cleaning cycles, to remove possible corrosion from the test device. We also recommend a regular maintenance of the measuring system. Please contact us. Since 4 th July 2007, operators are obligated to test all stationary refrigeration and air conditioning systems from a capacity of 3 kg FC and HFC (i.e. R 404 A and R 23)for their tightness at least once a year and to keep a system logbook. We would be pleased to conduct these tasks for you as a competent partner! Please do not hesitate to ask us! Please note that the sealing material and cable insulation used in our test units and systems contains silicone. If this is a problem for you, please contact us. The concept and design of the test units and systems manufactured and installed by WUT are in accordance with the relative, presently valid safety requirements and regulations of the EC-standards. The above regulations are adhered to when modifications or extensions are performed on site. A calibration of additional temperature and humidity values can be offered if required.
