SKILL SHEET # 1 Supply Water to Fire Sprinkler & Standpipe Systems from Pressurized Source Performance Evaluation: The evaluator shall verify the candidate has the ability to provide water to sprinkler and standpipe systems at the correct volume and pressure. JPR: 5.2.4 NFPA 1002, 2014 Edition Tasks: Provide water to sprinkler and standpipe systems at the correct volume and pressure. Instructor s Statement The candidate, given a fire department pumping apparatus, specific system information and a pressurized source, shall provide water to sprinkler and standpipe systems so that the listed performance steps are completed. Equipment Required: fire department pumping apparatus, specific system information and a pressurized source Critical Skills are identified by a bold type C. Any candidate that fails to complete a critical skill shall receive an unacceptable completion for the entire Practical Skill Sheet. Safety: A safety violation is grounds for automatic failure. All proctors present shall review the safety violation. STEPS FOR SKILL COMPLETION 1. Positions fire department pumper to operate at a pressurized fire hydrant. 2. Engages parking brake. 3. Engages pump. 4. Properly deploys wheel chocks. 5. Makes connection to the FDC. 6. Assembles hose lines, nozzles, valves and appliances as necessary. C 7. Calculates friction loss and gallons per minute for each scenario given. C 8. Supplies water to the system at the correct volume and pressure. 9. Operates pressure control system. 10. Makes transition from internal to external water supply source. 11. Operates auxiliary cooling system. Total Initial Retest Yes No Yes No Score needed to pass 7 3
