NRC +CAC = Total Acoustics Performance What is CAC? Why is Speech Privacy Important? NRC (Noise Reduction Coefficient) is a measure for rating the overall sound absorption performance of a material when used in an enclosed architectural space such as an office, where sound is being reflected at many angles of incidence. CAC (Ceiling Attenuation Class) is a measure for rating the performance of a ceiling system as a barrier to airborne sound transmission through a common plenum between adjacent closed spaces. The two leading sources of workplace dissatisfaction are lack of speech privacy and excessive background noise, both of which adversely affect work performance, raise stress, and lower employee satisfaction.
