Intelligent Junction Box -, HW 1 Mount, Lighting Fixtures and Control Equipment Mount the on C-strut or other suitable mounting location. Install the lighting fixtures and other specified control equipment (such as S5W wall station or S5SC sensor connector) per their included installation instructions. Quick Setup Guide Refer to the instructions on the following pages for complete details on the steps outlined below. LIGHTING S5SC 2 Connect Using the Included Reloc Modular Connectors, or with Contractor Supplied Conduit and Wire Standard Reloc being used: An S5CD is used to connect the feeder circuit power conductors and S5LEM control conductors (if applicable) to the input tee at the first room on each circuit as shown. Other rooms on the circuit can be connected using either S5CE circuit extender cables or conduit and wire with an S5CD in each location. All connections within the room are made with the supplied Reloc plug-in connectors and cables. HW version being used: If the components were ordered with the HW (hardwire) option and are being hardwired, the power circuit for the room should be run to the and all lighting fixtures. Connect the two signal wires from the S5LEM (if applicable) to the input (pink) wires of the. Connect the two output signal (violet) wires from the to all S5W wall stations, S5SC sensor connectors and lighting fixtures on this zone. Intelligent Junction Box -, HW Overview The intelligent junction box () is used in conjunction with other components, such as the wall station (S5W), light energy manager (S5LEM) and occupancy sensor and photocell connector (S5SC), for multilevel control of one 20A circuit of compatible lighting fixtures. On/off control of other types of lighting loads is possible through use of S or O versions. components are plug-and-play devices. They feature automatic detection and configuration for proper operation with other connected control devices and lighting fixtures. One must be used for each separately controlled zone (group) of fixtures. S5W wall switches and S5SC sensor connectors may be connected at any point in the zone they control. Before You Start 1. Always disconnect all power. 2. Install in accordance with the National Electrical Code and any other codes which may apply. 3. Use only as intended and at the listed voltage. 4. All installation and service must be performed by qualified personnel or service technicians. 5. All installation and wiring information contained herein is based on industry-accepted standards and practices. This information is not meant to conflict with or overrule any applicable codes or ordinances. 6. USE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN PERFORMING MAINTENANCE ON THIS EQUIPMENT. HIGH VOLTAGE IS PRESENT! Failure to follow any or all warnings and proper safety procedures can cause severe injury or death, and/or damage to the equipment. If more than one zone is desired in a room, one will be required for each zone. The for the second zone can be "tapped in" anywhere on the wiring for the first zone. The for the third zone may be "tapped in" anywhere on the wiring for the first or second zone, and so on. Figure 1 - Page 2

ELECTRICAL Connect Devices Connect S5W wall switches, S5SC sensor connectors and compatible lighting fixtures to the. An can control one zone of lighting, and have other (s) cascaded from it to create separately controlled zones inside of rooms, such as a separate rows of fixtures in a large conference room. Cascading in this way also allows for one or more wall stations, sensors or the S5LEM controller to control the entire room (all zones). (Refer to the S5W wall station instructions for further information on the master control function) See Figures 5 and 6 for further details. 8 7 When using the optional hardwire version (indicated by the HW suffix) terminate all conductors inside the device enclosure using standard connection techniques (wirenuts, etc.). 2.5 8 10 Figure 2 - Dimensions (inches) Connect Feeder Circuit Method 1 - Connect an S5CD Reloc connector's pigtails to the incoming feeder circuit in a junction box, then connect the to the S5CD. (See Figure 4 for details) Method 2 - Connect the to an S5CE circuit extender. NOTE: Be sure the load for each feeder circuit does not exceed 20 Amps maximum. HW: Connect the hardwire version as shown in Figures 3 and 7. Each can be powered by a different circuit if needed when using the hardwire version. Once the feeder circuit, devices and lighting fixtures are connected, installation is complete. Page 4

This allows for temporary lighting during the remainder of the installation. To turn the controlled fixtures on/off during this temporary phase, use the circuit breaker powering the zone. Once wall stations, occupancy sensors and photocells are connected to the control signal conductors, they will have immediate control of the connected fixtures, enabling immediate verification of installation. Intelligent Junction Box -, HW Troubleshooting 1. Simply Fixtures will not light: The contains a fuse on the low voltage communication buss which protects the Simply 5 devices on the loop. If the Simply 5 fixtures fail to light, check this fuse to see if it's open. If it is, determine and correct the cause of the short which opened the fuse, then replace the fuse. 2. The bargraph on the control station will not dim up and down: If no Simply 5 Fixtures are detected by the upon power up, the Simply 5 system software will go into non-dim mode. In this mode the only control available will be on/off. The bar graph on the S5W wall station will not dim up and down, it will only toggle on and off, and control of the fixtures will be on and off only. Once Simply 5 fixtures are connected to the, non-dim mode will cease and dimming will begin.
