COMM SAT SPEAKER SYSTEM IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS 1. READ these instructions. 2. KEEP these instructions. 3. HEED all warnings. 4. FOLLOW all instructions. 5. DO NOT use this apparatus near water. 6. CLEAN ONLY with dry cloth. 7. DO NOT block any ventilation openings. Install in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. 8. DO NOT install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat. 9. DO NOT defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding type plug. A polarized plug has two blades with one wider than the other. A grounding type plug has two blades and a third grounding prong. The wider blade or the third prong are provided for your safety. If the provided plug does not fit into your outlet, consult electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet. 10. PROTECT the power cord from being walked on or pinched, particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the apparatus. 11. ONLY USE attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer. 12. USE only with a cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table specified by the manufacturer, or sold with the apparatus. When a cart is used, use caution when moving the cart/apparatus combination to avoid injury from tip-over. 13. UNPLUG this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time. 14. REFER all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required when the apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as power-supply cord or plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the apparatus, the apparatus has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate normally, or has been dropped. This symbol indicates that there are important operating and maintenance instructions in the literature accompanying this unit. This symbol indicates that dangerous voltage constituting a risk of electric shock is present within this unit. The models that can be used to create a typical Commercial Music System CMS-4.1 configuration are: Comm Sat Small high frequency satellite speaker. Two or Four of these can be used with each Comm Sat Network. Comm Sat Mount Adjustable mount that can be used for either ceiling or wall applications. Comm Sat Network Transformer for 70V/100V distributed line systems as well as the crossover network for the Comm Sat and either the IC-8T-SW flush-mount subwoofer or the CA-800-TSW surface-mount subwoofer. Subwoofer You may use either the IC-8T-SW flush-mount subwoofer or the CA-800-TSW surface-mount subwoofer with this system. One of either of these can be used with each Comm Sat Network. Before installing your Comm Sat speakers, please take a moment to check the contents of the cartons and make sure that nothing has been damaged in transit. Refer to Diagram 1 for typical installation. INSTALLATION GUIDELINES Caution: Be sure to comply with any and all building codes in your area. 1. Remove faceplate (which has Network assembly attached to it) from metal enclosure and mount the metal enclosure for the Comm Sat Network at the distribution point for the wires to be connected to it. The enclosure will accept appropriate conduit/wire adapters (not included). Feed wires through conduit/wire adapter and connect to the terminal strip according to the desired operation mode. Be sure to observe proper polarity. Replace enclosure cover after completing all connections properly and tighten the conduit/wire adapters to secure the wires. See Figure 1. Caution: When connecting 70V or 100V distributed line systems, take care to ensure proper terminal connections. Incorrect connections could result in speaker damage, amplifier damage, or both. WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire or electrical shock, do not expose this apparatus to rain or moisture. WARNING: Voltages in this equipment are hazardous to life. No user-serviceable parts inside. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. CAUTION: Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the manufacturer could void the user s authority to operate this device. ABOUT YOUR KLIPSCH PURCHASE Thank you for purchasing the Klipsch Comm Sat speaker system. The Comm Sat speaker system is designed for music reinforcement applications. The speakers are engineered for easy, unobtrusive installations and can be used to create a variety of different configurations. Figure 1

2. Install the Comm Sat Speakers and Mounts. First, attach the Speaker to the Mount post (included with the Mount). Simply thread the post into the speaker until hand tight. Now pull the wire pigtail attached to the Comm Sat through the hole in the Mount tube and plate and make your connections in the box behind the plate. Once you have done this, attach the plate to the box. With the adjustment point on the Mount loose, adjust Speaker direction as desired. Tighten adjustment point on the Mount with the supplied tool after the Speaker is aimed as desired. See Figure 2. Caution: Attempting to adjust the Speaker direction after the Mount adjustment point has been tightened may result in Mount failure. The Comm Sat is designed to be mounted to the Comm Sat Mount only.
