Greenleaf 600 Macerator Toilet Waste Pump Website: Contact: www. greenleaftrade.co.nz
Introduction The Greenleaf 600 toilet macerator waste pump is suitable for use in domestic waste / sewerage installations. The unit can be connected to a standard toilet, shower, vanity and sink unit. It is not recommended for use in conjunction with waste disposal units unless a filter system is fitted in the waste line to screen out any solid foreign objects. The unit can be used in hair salons but again filtering is required to remove any hair that might enter the unit. The unit has one 40 mm inlet on the lower left side of the unit and a discharge port on the top right of the unit. There is also provision for an extra 40 mm inlet connection on the top left. There is one 100mm toilet connection on the front of the unit. The waste pump unit has an over ride switch on the top right hand side of the pump along with a sealed carbon vent. Power to the unit is via a power lead, which can be plugged into a standard wall socket. Operating Principal The macerator unit comprises a tank that stores the waste products/wastewater and an electric powered pump, which grinds and pumps the waste product. The unit is automatically controlled and operated via a pressure switch. The operation of the waste pump will be started when activated by the pressure switch due to either flushing of a toilet or water flowing into the storage unit from a shower, vanity or sink. Safety Warning Please read the following safety guidelines and instructions. Non- compliance with the safety rules and regulations can lead to electric shock, fire or serious injury. The unit is to be used only in the manner described in this instruction sheet. This unit is not suitable for use in swimming pools, paddling pools, or any form of standing water. The unit must not be situated where it is exposed to direct water or rain. The operation of this unit in any situation other than for its recommended use is prohibited. Children should be supervised to ensure they do not interfere with this unit. Carry out a visual inspection of the unit prior to use and on a regular basis. Do not use the device if it is damaged or defective. Do not override the unit. Prior to carrying out any maintenance on the unit the power cord must be disconnected from the mains supply. The power requirements for this unit are 230V 50Hz. Never lift or carry the unit by the power cable.
Ensure the power plug is connected in an area that is dry and in a flood proof zone. Foreign Objects To ensure continued reliability of the macerator waste pump, only organic toilet sewerage, water and toilet paper should be passed through the system. No other liquids or solids should be allowed to enter the pump. Other items can cause the waste pump to clog and malfunction. In extreme cases this can lead to the pump seizing our burnout of the electric motor. The maximum temperature of the pumped fluid should not exceed +50*c in permanent operation. The pump must not be used for flammable liquids, gas emitting liquids, explosive liquids, fuel, cleaning agents or any other chemical products. Installation The user is responsible for ensuring that the unit is installed in compliance with any regulations that may pertain to the use of this device. The user / installer will ensure that adequate precautions are taken in regard to protecting the area from flooding / overflow by way of an alarm system or standby pump. The user / installer is responsible for any consequential damage that may arise from installation that may cause flooding, water overflow or any other such event that may occur form the operation of this unit. The supplier accepts no responsibility for any damage caused by non- operation of the unit at any time. It is the user / installer s responsibility to ensure that back up devices and alarms are installed to protect their property at all times. Toilet Waste Connection Inlet The unit can be operated with most standard toilets with a horizontal outflow. The mid point of the horizontal outlet of the toilet should be 180 mm from ground level to match the mid point of the pumps toilet inlet connection. On the front of the unit is an 85 mm toilet inlet. A rubber connector adaptor is supplied with the pump to allow connection of a standard 100 mm toilet pan. This rubber adaptor has an offset feature which allows a variation in the toilet height. A clamping ring is also supplied in the kit and should be used when connecting the toilet to the waste pump unit.
Top 40mm Discharge Port This port is located on the top right hand side of the unit. A rubber connector is supplied with the unit to connect to the discharge pipe. The unit is supplied with a right angle rubber connector with a built in non- return valve. Lower Left 40mm Waste Inlet Port The unit has one inlet port on the lower left side. The inlet port is approximately 80 mm from ground level (to centre). A rubber connector is supplied with the unit for connecting to this port. The inlet port has a non- return valve fitted inside the tank unit. Top Left Side 40mm Inlet Port (Sealed Spare) There is a sealed spare inlet port on the top left side. To access this port you will need to cut the solid plastic top off (refer diagram).
Pressure Switch Override Button The pressure switch override button is located on the right hand side of the waste pump unit when viewing the pump from the front. Depressing this button will override the pressure switch function and cause the motor to run. Care should be exercised when using this feature as it may cause the motor unit to burn out if it is jammed with a foreign object. Dry Running The unit must not be allowed to run dry at any time. The manufacturers warranty is invalid if it is determined that the unit has been run dry. Venting The waste pump unit is fitted with an active carbon filter and requires no external venting. Initial Startup of the Unit Once installation is complete, flush the toilet and check that all seals and connections are watertight. Check both the discharge pipework from the unit and the other sanitary appliances connections. The motor should run for 5 to 10 seconds to clear the waste fluid (depending on the height of the pipe run). If it runs for more than 20 seconds, check that the pipework is clear, and that the discharge hose is not kinked. There should be no dripping of water from the toilet cistern or any other sanitary appliances, as this will cause the unit to activate repeatedly.
Discharge Pipework Horizontal pipe runs must have a minimum fall of 1:200 (5mm per metre) to the soil stack, If a vertical lift is required, it must be made before the horizontal run at the start of the pipe run, It is recommended that a drain- off point is installed to allow the discharge pipework to be drained down before any service work Siphoning If the discharge pipework runs to a level considerably lower than the unit, the resultant syphoning effect can suck out the water seal in the unit. Fitting an air admittance valve at the high point of the pipe run will overcome this problem, Sewer Line Connection The discharge pipework should be connected to a soil stack or waste line. Avoid connecting the outlet pipe to any waste pipe where there is a possibility of the waste back feeding into a sink, shower, vanity etc. Maximum Pumping Height or Distance The following should be observed if the unit is to be used at its outer pumping limits. Use smooth bends (OR 2 X 45 degree bends together) and not 90 degree elbows if possible. Any elbow on the discharge pipe of the unit will create friction loss (roughly 50 cm per elbow to be deducted from the vertical pumping spec.) Trouble Shooting Guide Pump Causes Remedy Slow to discharge or Outlet pipe to long Reposition Pipe Will not discharge Or to high Outlet pipe diameter To small Replace Pipe Partial blockage of outlet Actuate the pump with Override switch. If Problem persist, pump Is blocked, clear blockage Emits a humming noise Pump blocked Check pump and But does not discharge the waste Clear blockage Starts running and discharging accidentally Check valve installed Incorrectly Check valve has failed Open Leak in the tank that causes the water to flow into the macerator and sets it running Reinstall correctly Clean / replace check Valve Repair the leak
