Emergency Analog Telephones HDE Series In response to requests from our customer base to develop a unit that would work in harsh conditions including extremely cold weather, rain and noisy environments, Guardian expanded our HDE (Heavy Duty Emergency) line. Clients needed highly reliable units for locations requiring telephones that are critical to public safety, including transit facilities, College and University campuses. 7-1 One of the critical factors we had to deal with was high ambient noise areas. Our Engineers developed an advanced circuit board that will effectively allow reliable 2 way voice communication in noisy areas up to 92 decibels when used with an external power source. Our A series units have this feature. In order to combat moisture and dust from entering the enclosure, speaker and microphone areas, all of our HDE units have louvers which are very effective against rain, sleet, snow and dust. The louvers also help to prevent damage caused by vandalism to the speaker and microphone areas from sharp items such as an ice pick. Correctional Analog Telephones CIT & CIR Series Our Correctional Telephones were designed in conjunction with a major North American Justice System to provide reliable and cost effective communications for persons either charged or serving time. Guardian s vandal resistant equipment is designed to endure public abuse and tampering as well as low or high temperatures, dust, water and corrosion. 8-1 The rugged nature of these units reduces overall costs to the Correctional Facilities as they are not constantly repairing or replacing these telephones in hostile environments. Safety was a main factor in the design of these units as the standard handset cord length was reduced to 16 to lessen the chance of the handset being used as a club or choking device. CIT-40 CIR-41 Metal Keypad and Armored Handset Cord Ringdown Telephone, PBX programming routes the call Institutional Analog Telephones IS & IR Series Guardian Telecom s IS/IR Series of Institutional Surface Mount and Recessed Telephones are vandal resistant. An optional lock allows access only to authorized persons. While they were designed primarily for service communications at educational facilities, they are also suitable for any requirement of a similar nature.
