Domino VGS - F.O.G* Fat, Oil & Grease Separator Separated Fat, Oil & Grease Greasy Water In Cleaned Water Outlet Fat, Oil & Grease Out. Inlet Elbow Sludge Outlet

Introduction Retail Food Businesses generate large amounts of trade waste containing Fat, Oil & Grease (F.O.G)*, suspended solids, Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) plus numerous other pollutants. This wastewater is known as Greasy Waste. Under current Australian water authority policies, restaurants and food producers are required to install on site pre-treatment devices to reduce the quantity of F.O.G being discharged into the sewer systems. Until now Grease Traps have been the most common form of pre-treatment utilised within restaurants and food producers. Although capable of partially improving the quality of F.O.G they have a few major deficiencies. 1.They become progressively less efficient as F.O.G and sludge accumulate. 2.Regular cleaning and pump outs are required to prevent ineffective treatment, blockages, odour problems and health hazards. 3.Even with regular cleaning and pump-outs, grease traps still discharge pollutants into the sewer system at levels often higher than those set by the relevant water authorities. Fees and charges are then imposed to cover the costs of treatment. 4.The build-up of grease within house drains causes blockages which require constant plumbing maintenance. The DOMINO VGS-F.O.G* provides on-site pre-treatment of greasy wastewater generated by the preparation of food. This system has been developed to continuously and effectively remove fat, oils & grease from wastewater. As a direct result of the separation and filtration processes the system is able to offer: Reduced Biological Oxygen Demand levels Reduced Suspended Solids levels Reduced Ammonia levels Reduced Phosphorous levels Reduced Sulphate levels Reduced Nitrogen levels Acceptable ph levels By installing DOMINO VGS-F.O.G*. Food Retail Businesses, the water authorities and the environment all benefit due to: Reduced cleaning frequency of the grease trap thereby reduced grease trap maintenance costs. Less drain blockages therefore reduced plumbing costs. Reduced water authorities fees & charges for non-compliance with local acceptance standards. Reduced loading on sewage treatment plants. Increased awareness of environmental issues. By reviewing in-house procedures for washing floors etc. staff become aware of the impact.

The Technology Principle of Operation The DOMINO VGS-F.O.G* operates by its ingenious control of both FLUID VELOCITY AND PRESSURE. These forces gently coax non-emulsified impurities from water, allowing high-density contaminants to fall to the bottom of the vessel, and the F.O.G and low density suspended solids to rise to the top of the DOMINO VGS-F.O.G*. Separation Process The DOMINO VGS-F.O.G* is a flooded system in which the inlet and outlet columns form a U - tube configuration. The free F.O.G and low density suspended solids are trapped on one side of the main body and the treated water flows out the other side. Cleaned Water Outlet Separated Fat, Oil & Grease Greasy Water In Fat, Oil & Grease Out The main body of the unit contains a continuous truncated conical spiral pack (SPAK) which is manufactured from an oleophilic material. The greasy wastewater is delivered into the bottom of the main body where it then flows upwards through the centre of the (SPAK) assembly. Sludge Outlet Inlet Elbow At the top of the main body any free F.O.G and low density suspended solids are collected to flow out of the system into the waste tank or back to the collection pit. The partially cleaned water is directed to the outside perimeter of the conical (SPAK). It then follows a tortuous pattern cascading down and around the (SPAK). Here the lower density fluid F.O.G is drawn up the incline of the oleophilic surface of the (SPAK) and back into the low pressure centre of the DOMINO VGS-F.O.G*, where it co-mingles with the incoming fluid and is redirected to the top of the main body. A convection current is thus created within the (SPAK) by the density variation down the fluid column and the upward flow of the incoming F.O.G water. The treated water will enter the output leg, at a point when the fluid is most free of contaminants, and flow up and out of the system.

System Features 1. Automated Sludge Removal The electrically operated 50mm fully opened sludge valve opens to return the sludge build up from the separation process, the sludge is allowed to discharge back to the feed pit at a controlled rate, the base of the separator has a stainless steel sloping base with a unique internal sludge chute the sludge dump rate is activated whilst the pump is in the off position. 2. Clean Water Flushing Once the sludge valve closes and whilst the pump is still off, the flushing introduces clean water under pressure to create a swirl motion to dislodge any remaining sludge, the flushing valve is also fitted to back flow prevention, and where necessary a hot and cold mixer can be fitted. 3. Heating Element The Domino VGS-F.O.G* is fitted with a stainless steel wrap around heater, complete with thermostat and manual temperature control, the heater is only operated whilst the pump is in the on position and during the cleaning cycle. Automated SPAK Cleaning (Option) A 180 Degree air operated valve connected to the lid and (SPAK) will push-pull the (SPAK) to free any built up crud and oil that may be trapped between the spacers of the (SPAK), this sequence is operated whilst the pump is running increasing the flushing effect. With this option, The Domino VGS-F.O.G* will automatically clean itself at a pre-determined time on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. Domino VGS - F.O.G
