1.0 Introduction and Typica System Iustration The Nexus anaogue addressabe pane is avaiabe as a 1-8 oop pane using pug-in oop driver cards. Each oop is rated at 200mA and wi contro up to 126 Apoo XP95 devices. Up to 255 addresses may be configured across the oops for output functions, with 3 independenty programmabe output bits per address. Panes are housed in we-designed encosures and are finished in a hard-wearing epoxy paint. The motherboard eectronics are fixed to a detachabe chassis thus faciitating a competey empty encosure for first fix instaation. Top entry pastic grommets, bottom/rear entry pastic grommets (for mains) and rear entry knockouts are designed to assist with cabe instaation. The Nexus has a 4 ine x 20 character backit LCD dispay, showing device address, zone, type, status and ocation text. The LCD dispay is aso used as a menu-driven engineers configuration dispay. User contros are accessed by means of keyswitch enabed membrane contros. User and engineering faciities are accessed via 3 password eves. 64 zona LEDs and pug-in printer are avaiabe as options. The pane provides 2 common fire changeover reays and 1 common faut changeover reay, each rated at 1A, 30V DC. Six normay open inputs provide for remote sience, reset system, evacuate, sience faut buzzer, cass change and remote faut input. The Nexus pane may contro up to 13 additiona dupicate dispays, with fu user and engineer capabiity via RS485 data comms (24V DC power aso required). Up to 31 x 8-way programmabe pane expansion boards may be connected to the pane via an RS485 MUX I/O data ink (24V DC power aso required). Each 8-way board may provide either 8 programmabe open inputs and 8 programmabe reays or 8 programmabe open inputs and 8 programmabe two-stage aarm circuits. Extensive pane and network cause/effect programming is achieved via the PC programming package. Fu networking with other Nexus and Focus panes, network repeaters and graphics package may be achieved with an additiona pug-in network driver card. Network cause/effect may be programmed between Nexus panes, Focus panes and active network repeaters. Limited network signaing may aso be achieved with Dupex panes and passive network repeaters. 7.0 Nexus Repeater Panes Up to 13 repeater panes can be connected to the RS 485 repeater terminas. The repeaters can be powered either from the pane s auxiiary suppy (See Battery and Loop cacuator for maximum vaues) or from a oca power suppy. A repeater panes are fuy functiona with user and engineer access at a eves via access codes. The repeater panes are avaiabe with surface, semi fush or fuy fush encosures to match the Nexus pane. Pease refer to the Dupex, Nexus and Discovery Repeater Appication, Instaation and Commissioning Manua for further detais. 8.0 Networking The Nexus pane is fuy compatibe with the konex network when fitted with the 2500/160 (A1593) network card. Appendices i Technica Specification Notes 1. Quiescent current is stated assuming mains faiure conditions, therefore the genera faut LED wi be iuminated and the faut buzzer wi sound. 2. The tota current drawn by both aarm circuits operating must not exceed 2 Amps. 3. The tota DC auxiiary current drawn must not the vaues stated in the Technica Specification. The power suppy current imiting wi operate if ratings are exceeded. 4. The battery charger empoyed is the constant votage type and the current wi be dependent upon the state of charge of the battery. 5. Aarm ine monitoring operates using poarity reversa. A aarm sounders and/or visua aarms must be made poarity sensitive for ine monitoring to operate correcty. 6. Repeater data output is avaiabe at terminas in the contro pane. Two cores are required for the connection of repeater panes. The maximum cabe ength between the contro unit and any repeater unit is 2 metres. The cabe must be suitabe for RS485 data such as Beden 8132 or equivaent. If power is provided from the contro unit, 2 additiona cores are required. 7. The contro pane provides an RS485 mutipex data ink for driving additiona output devices such as zona reays, aarms, mimic indicators etc. The output functions are programmabe at site eve. 8. The number of sensor devices may need to be reduced due to the power requirements of the devices themseves. sensors, heat smoke, ca points etc. may be fitted in any combination up to the maximum (126) addressing capabiity of the protoco. Zone monitors in particuar require a higher operating votage and aso draw significanty more current from the contro unit; reference to the system design manua is necessary if zone monitors are to be used on the oop. 9. If any devices which contain an inductive coi (reays etc.) are connected to the pane, these shoud be suppressed by connecting a diode across the positive and negative connections of the coi.
