Purpose of the Plan

SUSTAINABLE URBAN TRANSPORT PLAN FOR BELGRADE - PHASES Finished first phase of SUTP project - analysis of the legal and institutional framework in Belgrade and Serbia - evaluation of alignment of existing planning and legal documents (regional and national) with EU transport policy goals, overall sustainability principles and general guiding principles and orientations for the SUT; - identification and involvement of stakeholders; - capacity assessment; - recognition of the problems in terms of communication between the various stakeholders, overlapping of responsibilities between institutions, lack of public involvement etc. Planning the second phase of SUTP project

BENEFITS OF SUTP FOR BELGRADE Better implementation of environmental directives that refer to air pollution, noise and reduction of emissions Complying with the commitments undertaken through the UNFCCC and the Kyoto protocol Increasing the competitiveness of the city and the region and therefore complying with the regional policy of the EU Providing a rationale framework for their medium-long term investment planning in the transport sector, consistently with urban development SUTP is an excellent platform for preparation of projects eligible under the Cohesion fund of the European Commission

CONCLUSION Changing the old planning patterns and implementation of new models and principles in planning Integrated planning in the city Planning for people Public involvement Planning ahead of changes
