FIRE SAFETY EQUIPMENT CHECK LIST This information is provided as a useful guide and may assist you in carrying out regular checks on fire protection equipment in your particular workplace environment. Remember workplace fire safety is a legal requirement and you should ensure that all your fire safety equipment meets all of the regulative requirements to comply. 1. Check each individual piece of fire safety equipment visually in your workplace on a weekly and monthly basis. 2. Record and file your check for future reference, and the name of the person carrying out the check and the date. 3. Check each category of equipment, i.e. Fire extinguishers, hose reels, fire signage, alarms etc. 4. Carry out a weekly test of your fire alarm system. 5. Report any defects or none conformities of any fire protection equipment to superiors, and arrange for repair or replacement by qualified persons. 6. Check the suitability of the equipment to carry out the task, i.e. right kind of fire extinguisher for the right kind of fire. 7.
