VALLOX 50 ffect C OPRATION D C F B ummer / winter damper in summer position ummer / winter damper in winter position peed selector A Heat recovery bypass In winter use the heat recovery cell of VALLOX 50 ffect C recovers heat from the air leaving the dwelling and uses it to heat the air coming from the outside. In summer use when it is warm outside, it is unnecessary to heat outdoor air. The heat recovery cell is then bypassed in VALLOX 50 ffect C with the standard damper (A). The position of the damper can be changed by opening the damper release (B) and then moving the seasonal damper in another position. In the summer position air flow through the cell is prevented, and heat recovery bypass is activated. Air filtering VALLOX 50 ffect C features G coarse filtering (C) of both extract and supply air before the fans. The unit can also be equipped with an F7 fine filter (D), which captures fine dust and pollen as well as dust not seen to the eye. The filters need to be in place in the unit whenever ventilation is in operation. Antifreezing Water condensing from extract air may freeze in the heat recovery cell. Freezing can be prevented by stopping the supply air fan, or the unit can be equipped with a preheating resistor, which is switched on as needed. topping the supply air fan The antifreezing thermostat T stops the supply air fan whenever the temperature of extract air is below +5 C after the cell. The fan restarts when temperature has risen by circa three degrees, i.e. to 8 C. The limit of the thermostat () can be adjusted. If the unit includes a preheating radiator (F), the supply air fan cannot be stopped. Outdoor air preheating The unit can have been equipped with a preheating radiator at the factory. If that is the case, the antifreezing thermostat T switches the preheating radiator on whenever the temperature of extract air goes below +5 C after the cell. The preheating radiator is switched off when temperature has risen by circa three degrees to +8 C. The preheating radiator heats outdoor air before the heat recovery cell and prevents it from freezing. In very cold temperatures the preheating radiator is not enough to heat maximum air flow to a sufficient degree (in a temperature of -0 C, maximum air flow is 0 dm /s, corresponding to speed ). election of fan speed Fan speed is selected by using a separate speed selector. peed selector The speed selector can be used to select speeds,, and :. Use during absence. When the dwelling is empty, ventilation can temporarily be diminished. -. Normal use. In normal conditions air needs to be replaced once in two hours.. Boosted operation. Cooking, bathing in the sauna or bathroom, drying clothes, using the toilet, having guests or a similar situation may cause a need for higher than normal ventilation. NOT! The positions of the speed selector switch have been given preset values at the factory. The corresponding air volumes are indicated in the performance table on page. When needed, the preset values may be changed by adjusting the potentiometers in the speed selector switch. (ee separate instructions for Vallox imple Control.) Post-heating For most of the year, heat recovered from the air being extracted is enough to warm the cold air coming from the outside to a suitable temperature. If the heat of extract air is not enough, air coming from the outside may be heated further with a radiator installed outside of the unit (for instance VALLOX 000 supply air heater).

After starting, the unit operates at the power selected on the fan speed adjustment switch. There is also a safety switch inside the unit. It stops power supply when the maintenance door of the unit is opened. Fan speed adjustment Cam switch The F and F fans of the unit are controlled depending on usage with a separate -step (,, and ) cam switch located in the ventilation zone. Voltage signal control The fan power of the unit can be controlled steplessly with voltage signal 0...0 VDC. With a voltage signal lower than.5 VDC, the fans stop. upply air temperature The unit does not have a post-heating radiator for controlling the temperature of supply air. It is possible to connect a separate supply air heater (e.g. VALLOX 000 supply air heater). Heat recovery bypass witching to summer-time bypass (FG) of the heat recovery cell HR is done manually by turning the HR damper to the bypass position for the summer. Heat recovery antifreezing The antifreezing thermostat T of the HR cell stops the supply air fan F, preventing the HR cell from freezing. The fan starts automatically as soon as the risk of freezing has passed. The operating point of the antifreezing thermostat can be changed, the factory setting is +5 C. The unit can also be equipped with a preheating radiator LP, controlled by the antifreezing thermostat T. When there is a risk of frosting, the preheating radiator LP starts to heat air coming from outside to the unit, thereby preventing the HR cell from freezing. VALLOX 50 ffect C INTALLATION A Location of the ventilation unit The unit is mounted indoors, in a place where temperature does not fall below +0 C. The unit is mounted in a place where the sound pressure level coming through the envelope is not acoustically disturbing (storerooms, corridors, technical rooms, and in some cases rooms where people spend time). The unit is equipped with an adjustable base. If the unit is mounted on the wall, attention needs to be paid to the weight of the unit (0 kg) and to vibration isolation. The unit is splash protected (IP ) and can thus also be mounted in a damp room. D B C lectrical connections The unit has a plug connection.the electrical connection box of the unit is located inside the unit next to the connection outlet of the exhaust air ductwork. The cables to be connected to the unit are wired through the lead-in seals () located next to the connection outlet of the exhaust air ductwork. A B C D Duct outlets Measurement outlets Base plate Top panel Lead-in seals Installation Remove the door of the unit (latches on top edge). Remove the cover of the electrical connection box ( screws.5 x 9.5). Mount and connect necessary cables to the terminal block as specified in the connection instructions. These instructions include the internal and external electric diagrams. Channel outlets of the unit The unit is equipped with four ø 00 external connection outlets. Necessary connecting pieces (e.g. inner or bent connectors) can be attached to external connection outlets. NOT! LNGTH OF TH CONNCTING HAD OF TH CONNCTING PIC NO MOR THAN 5 MM. Fix the ducts steadily and tightly to the relevant outlets. (NOT! Unit models L/R). Implement duct insulation if needed as defined in the ventilation plan. Air flow measurement outlets The fixed air flow measurement outlets are located behind the top panel (D). To remove the top panel, open its fixing screws. Via the measurement outlets (B), you can messure the total pressure of the supply and extract air ductwork with a differential pressure instrument. Pressure readings and the unit s air volume tables (p. ) show volume air flows at various adjustment positions. The red measurement hose is on the pressure side and the black hose on the suction side of the fan. 99 Condensing water connections 7 The delivery includes a water seal. With a pipe connected to the water seal, water condensing from extract air can be led to a floor drain (not straight to the drain). The pipe must not rise after the water seal. As the screw-type coupling is located in the middle of the unit, the unit has to be mounted level with the horizontal. condensing water outlet Vallox Oy FI-00 Loimaa Finland Telephone +58 766 00 Fax +58 76 59 www.vallox.com.09.79b/.8.009/pdf
