Information 1 1 Information A water heating battery, frost protection sensor (already mounted) and instruction are included in this kit. After unpacking, check the contents. If any part is missing or damaged, please contact your place of purchase. Note: Size and design of the water heating battery are different for each SAVE model. 2 Replace electrical heater with water heating battery 2.1 Open the front hatch Danger Make sure that the Mains supply to the unit is disconnected before performing any maintenance or electrical work! Open the hatch with the two latches and swing the hatch open. SAVE VTR 500: Remove the front hatch by the use of an 8 mm Allen key, after which the hatch is tilted back and lifted off completely. 2.2 Remove the electrical heater 1. Access the electrical connections compartment and electrical heater by removing the cover lid. Number of screws on the cover lid differ for each model. Fig. 1 Remove the lid
2 Replace electrical heater with water heating battery 2. Disconnect the electrical heater (ELH), triac (TRIAC) and overheat protection sensor (OHT) wires from the main circuit board. Fig. 2 Disconnect wires 3. Remove knobs/screws that hold the electrical heater and pull it out. Fig. 3 Remove the electrical heater
Replace electrical heater with water heating battery 3 2.3 Mount the water heating battery Fig. 4 The water heating battery 1. Outlet 2. Inlet 3. Remove plug and add the frost protection sensor. Tread seal the sensor. 4. Drain screw 5. Bleed screw Installation 1. Pull out inner and outer rubber grommets. Fig. 5 Remove grommets 2. Mount the water heater. Be careful not to damage the thin fins on the heater. The water heating battery should be mounted on the brackets at the back of the compartment.
4 Connections Fig. 6 Install the water heating battery 3. Connect the frost protection sensor to any free analog input on the main circuit board. Black wire should be connected to ground (GND), red wire to any analog input (for example AI4). 3 Connections 3.1 Water system When connecting a heater to the water system, the following things should be considered: 1. The connecting pipes from the water heating battery must under no circumstances be subjected to twisting or bending stresses when assembling the pipe, etc. Use suitable tools to counteract the connectors twisting/bending moments during assembly. 2. Ensure that forces due to expansion in the system and the intrinsic weight of the piping system itself do not put loads on to the connecting pipes from the heater. 3. Hot water inlet and outlet should be connected as illustrated in figure 4. The heater contains a bleed screw (5), the air must be properly vented from the system to ensure proper function. A venting valve should normally be installed near the heat exchanger or at the highest point in the system. 4. A drainage screw is connected on the heater figure 4 to empty the system in the event of repair work, a longer operational stop, or when there is a risk of freezing, etc. 5. Immediately after the system has been filled with water, the heater and its connections must be checked for water leaks. Leaks can cause water damage. Operational data: Max. operating temperature: 125 C Max. operating pressure: 0,8 MPa (8 Bar) Important If the water in the water heating battery freezes, then it can burst. If this happens water may leak from the system and cause water damage. If there is a risk of frost the heater must be installed with a circulation pump in a secondary circuit to ensure that a constant flow is achieved in the heater. It's strongly recommended to install an outdoor air damper with a spring return actuator.
Configuration 5 3.2 Actuator for valve control A valve can be installed to control water flow based on heating demand. An actuator have to be installed to control the valve. Table 1 Recommended accessories Valve Name ZTV/ZTR, ZTVB/ZTRB range Article no. Actuator RVAZ4 24A Actuator 0-10V 9862 Transformer PSS48 Transformer 24V 204385 1. Connect actuator to any free ground (GND) connection and analog output (for example AO3) on the connection board. 2. Connect power supply to the actuator. It requires 24 V. Use a transformer. Important Do NOT use 24V DC power output from the connection board for valve actuator. 4 Configuration Control of the water heating battery must be configured at the control panel. Configuration 1. Go to Service menu 2. Enter password (default 1111) 3. Activate the actuator. Go to Components menu, select Heater menu and select type as Water. Choose actuator voltage type. Do advanced settings if necessary. 4. Configure connection of the actuator. Go to Service menu. Select Output menu. In next menu select ANALOG tab. Select the analog output to which the actuator is connected. Example if it is connected to AO3 on the connection board, then select ANALOG OUTPUT 3 and select Y1 Heating from the output type list. 5. Configure frost protection sensor (FPT). Go back to Input menu. Select ANALOG tab. Select the analog input to which the frost protection sensor is connected. Example if it is connected to AI4 on the main circuit board, then select ANA- LOG INPUT 4 and select Frost Protection Temperature Sensor (FPT) from the input type list.
