May 2017 RECYCLING FACTS FOR CITY OF BROOKFIELD RESIDENTS Where is the Recycling Center? The City of Brookfield s Recycling Center is located at 19700 Riverview Drive. When is the Recycling Center Open? Saturdays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. all year (except holidays) Tuesdays & Thursdays 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Apr. 1 Nov. 30 (except holidays) Who can use the Recycling Center? Residents of Waukesha County may use the Recycling Center for dropping off office paper and cardboard only. (Electronics recycling such as televisions and computers is provided on special days, currently one Saturday in January and one in July.) Only City of Brookfield residents are allowed to use the Recycling Center for all other business. Residents must have proof of residence, with their name and Brookfield address. Contractors and commercial businesses are not allowed to use the disposal site. Maximum size of Trailer/Truck - Trailers - no larger than 8 ft. x 10 ft. Trucks no dump trucks or trucks larger than a pickup Materials must be placed in the correct location at the Recycling Center. (Incorrect material placement is hazardous to residents, City employees, and equipment.) The Recycling Center attendants are instructed to reject any materials that fail to conform to the Recycling Center regulations. Attendants may also turn away any persons that do not follow the Recycling Center rules. If your questions are not answered in this brochure, please call (262) 782-9650, Monday Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Residential Trash/Recyclables Collection Guidelines FOR MORE INFORMATION ON RESIDENTIAL TRASH COLLECTION OR TO SCHEDULE A PICK UP, CALL ADVANCED DISPOSAL AT (262) 367-6040. Day Time Holidays Collection day is by location, see the enclosed map. Collection occurs once each week. Trash and recyclables are collected together on the same day. All trash and/or recyclables must be placed outside, ready for pick up by 7 a.m. on the designated service day. A one-day delay in scheduled collection will occur within the same week after the following holidays if the holiday falls on a weekday: New Year s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. If the holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, collection will occur on your regular day. Advanced Disposal will resume the regular schedule on the following week. Severe Weather Trash Containers The City s collection service may be interrupted by severe weather. In the event that trash collection is not possible, service will resume as soon as possible. Call Advanced Disposal for rescheduled collection days, (262) 367-6040. Loose trash must be placed in watertight containers, such as plastic bags, or covered. Garbage cans no larger than 33 gallons. When using a garbage can, trash must still be contained in a garbage bag. No loose trash will be collected. The weight of the bags/containers must not exceed 50 lbs. each. Containers in a deteriorated or unsanitary condition must be maintained and/or replaced by the resident. Location Trash may be placed anywhere ON THE DRIVEWAY from just outside the garage to the edge of the street. Trash will NOT be picked up from inside the garage. Trash must be placed so that the collection vehicle has a CLEAR PATH to the container. Clear snow from the driveway or place containers curbside. Material to be collected must be together in ONE PLACE. To avoid mistaken pickup, keep non-collection items at least 10 feet from trash to be collected. No chargers, headsets or cases. Currently Brookfield s Recycling Center is not accepting. Flattened - no larger than 2 ft. x 3 ft. (can also be put out with home recyclables cut to 3 ft. x 4 ft. & bundle) Remove all nonmetal materials: this includes aluminum, steel, cast iron, copper, etc. also included are bicycles, fluorescent light fixtures with the ballasts removed, lawn mowers & snow throwers with the gas and oil removed or: call Advanced Disposal (262)367-6040 for pickup. Not mixed with gas Catalogs, cereal boxes, magazines, newspaper, office paper, phone books, etc. (or put in home recycling bin - place in paper bag or bundle) do not accept. Fairly clean, No excess soil. Max. ½ cubic yard per visit. May be sod or contain minimal vegetation. Max. ½ cubic yard per visit. TV s, DVD s, VCR s, DVR s Wood Ashes Currently Brookfield s Recycling Center is not accepting. Wood ashes from fireplaces only, must be cold Yard Waste: Branches/Brush... Cut to 6 feet or less; up to 30 diameter Grass/Leaves.. Must be taken out of bags at recycling center (By purchasing stickers through Advanced Disposal - branches, brush, grass clippings and leaves can also be picked up at your home - call Advanced Disposal for details and to purchase stickers at 262-367-6040) Brookfield s Recycle Center Only Accepts Recyclable Materials Non-recyclables are not accepted at the Recycle Center. City Ordinance 9.12.030 prohibits disposal of garbage and waste materials on property you do not own, including dumpsters and the side of the road. Violation of this ordinance is subject to citation including significant fines. DO NOT DISPOSE OF MATERIAL IN COMMERCIAL DUMPSTERS.
