Swan Care and Repair Home Improvement Agency Services Swan Care and Repair provides a range of services including: Handyperson services Access to approved contractors Energy advice and referral services as well as general support Information and guidance on housing related issues and benefit entitlements Referrals to Vivo Support Ltd. Swan Care and Repair s aim is to assist you to live independently in your own home, in increased comfort, safety and security. All of our services are available to: Owner-occupiers Private tenants Registered Social Tenants Vulnerable adults People who fall or who are at high risk of falling Disabled people, including disabled children Those living in areas covered by Braintree District Council, Chelmsford City Council, Colchester Borough Council, Maldon District Council and Tendring District Council Page 2

Home Improvement Agency Advice, Information and Guidance This service is designed to enable you to live independently and to continue to live comfortably in your own home. We will arrange, free of charge, for a fully trained Case Worker to: Discuss your needs with you, usually in your home Offer information, advice and guidance to meet your needs following assessment Provide you with information on the options available to help with adapting or repairing your home and advise on the implications of having these works carried out Respect your wishes and take into account the needs of carers and/or relatives Provide advice on alternative housing options Contact providers of associated care and support services at your request and ensure you receive a satisfactory service from them Tell you about other relevant agencies Provide a welfare benefits assessment, advice and assist you to complete the application forms Help identify and liaise directly with other funding sources such as grants and loans, trusts, charitable and home equity loans where financial assistance could enable your housing needs to be met Refer you to a registered independent financial advice organisation** that can assist in providing regulated financial advice ** Additional charges may apply Page 3

Handyperson Services Our handyperson service enables you to have minor essential repairs or odd jobs carried out around the home. We can assist you to feel safe and secure in your home through repairs and adaptations which include: Fitting key safes Supply & fit grab rails Small plumbing jobs Fitting locks & bolts Putting up shelves and rails Changing light bulbs Building temporary ramps Installing smoke detectors Free home safety checks Fitting bed & chair raisers. Assembling flat pack furniture Draft exclusion to windows & doors Hanging pictures. Re-arranging furniture in the home Service costs * Those in receipt of means tested benefits will be eligible for the subsidised rates of 13.00 per hour. Those who are not in receipt of a means tested benefit a non-subsidised rate from 15.60 per hour. Carry out safety checks (PAT) to portable electrical appliances. Signposting to other relevant services Provide advice on fire safety and personal security within the home. Check energy usage and seek best option to improve the thermal comfort of your home Help check your energy usage and advise you on the best option to improve thermal comfort within your home Liaise with support groups such as churches and lunch clubs so you can become involved within the community Page 4

Our Partnership With Vivo Swan Care and Repair work in partnership with Vivo Support Limited, who offer personalised care and support services to a range of clients in the community. Vivo provide a flexible service tailored to your needs. All Vivo staff are fully trained to provide clients with high quality care and support and will always listen to your needs to ensure that you will receive the best care package for you. Public/Group presentations to promote services Swan s Care and Repair Service is able to offer speakers to present the range of services available by the Home Improvement Agency at informal meetings or gatherings. We can bring along equipment to demonstrate the benefits these bring to clients. We are also able to provide advice on safety and security within the home. This service is provided free of charge.
