DCS - DSS - OSS Damage Control System (DCS): it is an integrated monitoring and control system dedicated to the on board safety. It communicates with all safety sub-systems in order to: show the operator the status of all monitored elements (fire detectors, fire doors, fans, dampers, etc..) by means of a dedicated man machine interface including ship general arrangement plans, P&ID of the involved plants etc.; detect alarms and notify them to the user; handle safety strategies in a coordinated way. DCS Man Machine Interface is designed according to the highest graphical and ergonomic standards to provide to the safety officers, during emergency events, a user friendly tool. Decision Support Systems (DSS): it is a specific software module integrated in the DCS which supports decision-making activities during on board emergency management (fire, flooding, NBC, etc..). DSS supports the safety officers in the emergency fighting procedure execution through an Automatic Check List that is selected according to: Emergency type (fire, flooding, NBC..) Ship area Ship operational role Every check list is designed according to the Navy internal rules and it includes set of emergency fighting information that are collected in additional cards known as kill cards. These kill cards are dynamically shown according to the check list action under execution in order to support the safety officer in the successfully completion of the action (i.e. fans to be stopped for that room during the Ventilation Crash Stop Action). On Board Stability Software (OSS): it is a specific software module integrated in DCS that allows to the safety officer to evaluate in real time the main stability parameters of the ship according to the current load and attitude conditions acquired by DCS interface (tank levels, draughts). The stability parameters calculation can be carried out in intact and damaged conditions. In case of leak, OSS provides to the user a time prediction to reach the new ship stable condition. The same calculation can also be simulated by means of the what-if mode of operation in order to provide to the operator preliminary info about the ship behavior in case of leak.

On Board Personnel Tracking System (OPTS): it is a system based on Active RFID technologies, for real time- people presence monitoring inside dangerous zones of the ship. Every person on board has a personal TAG that is automatically detected by the antennas located in the monitored zones of the ship. OPTS has a direct interface to DCS man machine interface, and a direct connection to the Ship Personnel Database (Name, Operative profile, etc). This interface allows to provide to the DCS user clear and detailed information about the personnel identities and on board locations by means of dedicated mimic pages on the DCS Man Machine Interface. On Board Patrol System (OBPS): it is a specific software module that allows to the user to carry out patrols on board of the ship for technical and safety purposes. The user by means of a rugged PDA can move along the ship to carry out the patrol and collect all the necessary information in terms of technical parameters of the checked machineries and safety aspects of the checked rooms of the ship. The path of the safety patrol and the machineries to be checked are defined by means of specific check points where the PDA acquires the necessary information during the patrol. OBPS records the path and the collected data that are downloaded to the DCS server as soon as the PDA come back under the wi-fi net. These info can be shown on dedicated DCS mimic pages in order to provide to the safety team updated info about the machineries and the room status on board the ship. Electronic Incident Board (EIB): it is a module that includes specific software and hardware components totally integrated in DCS environment in order to replace the old Plexiglas Incident board. It therefore includes: set of large screen displays (video wall) for the general visualization of the emergency ship situation rugged tablet PC for the input of the emergency information that come from the Safety team on the field. EIBs are installed in the main critical zones of the ship that are dedicated to the safety management and they are connected to DCS network in order to ensure the real time synchronization of the emergency fighting progress information among the main control rooms of the ship. EIB software module is designed to respect the Incident Board Navy criteria in terms of Ship decks visualization, symbols and relevant colors and to respect the highest graphical and ergonomic standards. OPTS - OBPS - EIB

AFSS Automatic Fire and Explosion Sensing and Suppression System (AFSS): it is a local explosion detection and suppression system capable of detecting and suppressing explosive fires in less than 250 milliseconds. Used to locally protect people nearby equipment which may cause explosive fires such as JP5 pumps, purifiers, diesel engines, it uses highly immune false alarm triple infrared sensors combined with programmable Control Electronics and High Rate Discharge solenoid valves with full diagnostic capability. RS485 interface bus to DCS enable a complete monitoring and control as an addressable FDS. Qualified to MIL Standard and UE directive for Transportable Pressure Equipment Directive. Detection and suppression times qualified with zero OPD and GWP extinguishing agent by the Italian Navy after extensive testing campaign. SCC FIRE ALARM CONTROL UNIT FIRE ALARM CONTROL PANEL Fire Detection System (FDS): it is an Addressable system certified by the main classification societies (RINA, DNV, LR, GL, etc..) and it is updated according to the last IMO rules in terms of safety: Safe Return to Port. It includes central units to collect and manage all the information regarding the fire detection and the global status of the system and it incorporates a complete range of fire detectors. The main components of FDS can be listed as follows: Fire Alarm Control Unit (which can handle up to 20 branches of detectors where each branch may collect up to 180 detectors/addressable units) Alarm Repeater Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) Dual-Function Addressable Smoke Detector Dual-Function Plus Addressable Smoke/Heat Detector IR Tri Spectrum Addressable Flame Detector IP40, IP65 Manual Call Points Explosion Proof Smoke Detector Explosion Proof Heat Detector FDS is a stand-alone system that is usually interfaced to DCS in order to allow to the safety officers to execute the real time monitoring and management of the fire detectors from the DCS man machine interface.
