Scope: This manual is valid for the RMS Monitoring Software from Version 1.2.0. The low-order digit of the software version stands for minor changes, e.g. correction of errors, that do not influence the main functionality of the software. This instruction manual describes the implementation of a monitoring system: creation of users, user rights, group structures, adding of devices and configuration of alarm functions. Installation of the software and database and operation of the monitoring system are described in the manuals E-IM- RMS-WEB and E-OM-RMS-WEB. 1 Overview The software consists of server software and a database. The server software and database can be installed on the same or two different servers. It merely needs to be ensured that the server software and database can communicate with each other. 1.1 System Requirements The server environment must fulfil the following requirements for the server software and database to run. 1.1.1 Browser The RMS supports the following web browsers: Microsoft Internet-Explorer, Version 11 or later Mozilla Firefox, Version 40 or later Google Chrome, Version 43 or later 2017 ROTRONIC AG Bassersdorf Switzerland Page 5 of 53

2 Create RMS Account This section describes the creation of a new account, the adding of devices and groups, the configuration of alarm functions and the creation of new users and their user rights. 2.1 Create New Company A new company is created by opening the software s registration page. Enter the number of your server in your browser with the following URL extension: http://<server>/rms/register.aspx 1 Figure 1: RMS registration view for new company Fill in the following points in the input window (Figure 2) including the license key 2 received from Rotronic: Figure 2: Input window for initial RMS registration 1 12.34.567.89 is to be substituted by the number of your server. 2 If you have a trial key, it is valid for one month. 2017 ROTRONIC AG Bassersdorf Switzerland Page 6 of 53

Your company account is then created with the following settings: One group (Group1) One user right with all rights One user for the registered person 2.2 Main System Settings You must check the following settings in the menu Tools > Setup > System (see Figure 3): Culture Time zone Temperature Units E-mail server settings Figure 3:Select Setup menu Also check all other settings in this view. You can find a description of all system settings in chapter 3.1 System Settings. 2.3 Quick Startup Guide This section describes the most important steps in setting up a Rotronic Monitoring System in brief. 2.3.1 Create Groups & Layout Create the group structure you want in the menu Tools > Setup > Groups. The measuring point labels can only be arranged once devices and measuring points have been added, see next chapter 2.3.2. Figure 5: Layout with labels and measuring points 2.3.2 Add Devices Add new wireless or LAN devices in the menu Tools > Setup > Devices. If you want to add wireless devices, you first need to set up a gateway in the system. The procedure for adding a LAN logger is similar to adding a gateway, only the settings change (see settings of the wireless logger below). Enter serial number of the gateway Press button on the device for clear identification. Briefly: 1 second Setting of: Device name Channel: Per gateway one channel can be selected (1 to 5). Per channel up to 60 loggers can be handled. Up to 5 gateways can run in parallel mode using separated channels (meaning separated networks with no interference between the various loggers and gateways). Up to 300 loggers can be handled without any interference, see figure 6. When redundancy is required, simply set the gateways to the same channel. The logger is automatically configured to the channel of the selected gateway. Network ID: is necessary if a specific gateway must communicate with a specific data logger and vice versa. The settings must be done on both devices. Network ID between 1 254. Add further users. It can be defined for every user which rights he has per group. As shown in the table below, the same user can thus have different rights for different groups. 3 System Startup This chapter describes the individual steps needed to implement an RMS Rotronic Monitoring System in detail. 3.1 System Settings The menu Tools > Setup > System contains all settings that concern the overall system. They should be checked first of all and set accordingly for the application. 3.2 Group Settings Groups can be created, deleted, changed or sorted under Tools > Setup > Groups. 3.2.1 Create & Edit Groups Create the group structure you want in the menu Tools > Setup > Groups. The new group can be placed in the tree by drag & drop. Rename selected group Sort Sort group structure alphabetically (A to Z) Delete Save Delete selected group Save current group structure 3.3 Layout Once the group structure has been created completely, you can then add or remove a background picture (layout) to every group. You can also place so-called labels (texts, measured values, web cam, gateway) in the layout. All labels can be positioned at will by drag & drop. Clicking a label opens a dialog in which the colour and size of the label can be set. 2017 ROTRONIC AG Bassersdorf Switzerland Page 16 of 53

3.3.1 Functions Select the group you want to edit and add labels and background pictures to it with the following functions. Function Background picture Shows a file dialog for selection of a background picture. The picture should have a width-to-height ratio of about 2:1 so that it is not distorted too much when fitting it in. The maximum file size is limited to 512 kb (adjustable in the web version). Only png and jpg files are supported. Measured value label The values of the measuring points are shown in the layout as labels. The measuring point must, however, first be added to the groups as described in section 3.4. 3.3.2 Add Web Camera It is basically very easy to integrate a web camera. Simply enter the link under which the current picture of the camera can be called up. The URL shall refer to a JPG file (Video is not supported) This link is individual for each type of web cam. The link can be found in the manual of the according web cam. For example: http://www2.rotronic.ch/webcam/cam1/current.jpg Figure 11: Example of web camera integration If the web camera is not directly accessible (local network protected by a firewall), the camera must be integrated via an RMS converter. In this case, specify the RMS converter that is located in the same network as the camera. 3.4 Devices & Measuring Points The RMS distinguishes between devices and measuring points. In RMS the term device means the physical device. The term measuring point in RMS means the data set stored in the database. This is described in section 3.4.7. 3.4.1 Device Settings Under devices, it is possible to see the various devices within the various groups. Figure 12: Overview of the device selection. With SHIFT or with CTRL, it is possible to select one or more of the devices. With one device selected, it is then possible to replace it, read out device settings, carry out a firmware update (by before importing a firmware file). With more than one device selected, it is then possible to read out all device settings, carry out a firmware update (all selected devices must be the same). 2017 ROTRONIC AG Bassersdorf Switzerland Page 18 of 53

The following functions are available for editing devices: Function New Delete Add new device Delete device 13 The measuring points of the device and all recorded data will be deleted! To delete a device, it is also necessary to enter a text in order to prevent accidental deletion of a device. 11 This function is of an informative nature only. Options Save Replace The device is replaced. The measuring points and settings of the device are taken over automatically. 14 Read out device settings Read out device properties as shown in the above table. Firmware update Update the device firmware. If more than one of the same devices are selected, then a new firmware can be uploaded to all devices at once. Important: Only one type of firmware update can run at the time. The update for wireless loggers can last up to 4 hours if there are 60 units connected to a gateway (4 minutes per device). If there are various firmware versions available, the device will always take the newest version. Import firmware file Import a.bin firmware file for the devices. The file will automatically be saved under documents and will automatically be used for the firmware update option stated above. Save device settings 3.4.2 Measurement point Settings Under measuring points, it is possible to see the measurement points within the selected groups. Setting of: Device name Address: The default address is automatically provided by the system. Every device must have its own address per channel 18. It may not be higher than 60 and may not exceed the length of the interval 19. Add Device Measuring Point Measuring points are generated automatically when adding devices. It is, however, also possible to add measuring points to a device at a later point in time if the measuring point of the device has been archived or deleted. 4.1 Alarm Triggers There are two ways to trigger a measurement alarm: Alarm Type Measuring point alarm Alarm limits (alarm scheme) Two alarm limit types can be entered for every measuring point. Warning (lower / upper limit) Alarm (lower / upper limit) The settings can be made in the menu Tools > Setup > Measuring Points, see also chapter 3.4.7. Instead of measuring point alarms, generally valid alarm schemes can be defined. They are applied to the desired measuring points. The settings can be made in the menu Tools > Setup > Alarm Limits, see also chapter 3.4.7. 4.2 Set Notification The user notifications can be defined for every group. The settings apply to the respective group; see group navigation on the left in Figure 22. The settings can be passed down from the higher-level group to the subordinate groups if the check mark is placed (on the right in Figure 22). 4.3 Inhibited Alarms Every active alarm can be inhibited for a selectable time span. No notification is emitted in this time. The alarm function is resumed as soon as the inhibit ends and the alarm is still active. Special cases: If an alarm ends during the inhibition, the inhibition remains. A measuring point can also be inhibited even if it is not in the alarm. This can be useful, for example, when carrying out a calibration and no notification shall be triggered during the process. 4.4 Active Alarm The notification is carried out as set as long as an alarm is active and not inhibited: Send e-mail Send SMS Telephone call 4.5 Repetition Interval For e-mail and SMS, the repetition interval can be set separately for every alarm level. 5 Setup This chapter describes all setup functions that have not already been described in chapter 3 System Startup. 5.1 Alarm Limits Alarm limits are schemes that can be used to trigger alarms. They are useful when the same threshold values are to be used for several measuring points or further conditions for triggering of the alarm are to be added. All alarm limits are shown that are visible to the current user on the basis of the group allocation. Unused alarm limits (no measuring point allocated) are shown with a black dot.
