2.2 Łódź railway hub CONNECTION TO WARSAW 60 min Busiest railway line in Poland over 10,000 people commute daily on the route Łódź Warsaw. The ongoing modernization of Łódź railway hub will enhance travel standards in the Łódź voivodeship by limiting journey times as well as expanding local rail network. 4. Goal of the programme The programme aims to create a new area of functional city centre rooted in the historic centre based on the axis of Piotrkowska Street through: creation of a system of safe and attractive public spaces joining Piotrkowska Street, creative use of unique historic urban fabric dating back to the turn of the 20th century, SPECIAL CULTURE ZONE the functional change of rail and postindustrial areas, preservation of vital elements of the urban space constituting the identity and history of the area, revitalization of rail and postindustrial areas as well as neighbouring quarters of urban environment. 6.2.1 Łódź Fabryczna Station Project co-financed by European Regional Development Fund within the framework of The Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment. Total gross cost of the investment: 1,759,289,451.71 PLN (430 mln ) Gross contribution of the city of Łódź: 412,905,234.31 PLN (100 mln ) Managing authorities Polish Public Railways and City of Lodz 18.08.2011 13.09.2012 28.02.2015 News form the building site: the investment area is around 23.85 ha, the construction of the new railway station and the railway tunnel involves earthmoving of around 1,500,000 m3 of earth, which means nearly 80,000 truckloads. Uptill today ca. 400,000 m3 of earth have been removed, 18.08.2011 signing of the project agreement 13.09.2012 commencement of the biggest rail investment implemented by a local government in Eastern Europe 28.02.2015 set date for the conclusion of the project

6.3 Łódź Intermodal Hub cross section The modern Łódź Fabryczna Station with the intermodal transport hub will combine agglomeration and conventional railway, long-distance coach services as well as municipal public transport, private transport services, and bike routes. 6.4 Diametral tunnel ŁÓDŹ ŻABIENIEC The diametral tunnel will join Łódź Fabryczna Station with Łódź Kaliska Station. It is to be the key element of Łódź Agglomeration Railway.. ŁÓDŹ KALISKA

6.1.1 Revitalization of EC1 and its adaptation for the purposes of art and culture Revitalization of EC1 and its adaptation for the purposes of art and culture 2008-2013 Total cost: 274 mln zł (65 ) ERDF contribution: 82 mln zł (20 ) EC1 the oldest power plant built in 1907, which served the inhabitants of the city till 2001. EC1 East complex will serve as Film Art Centre and perform unique cultural and artistic functions. EC1 West complex will host the interactive Centre of Science and Technology, serving as a museum, educational and leisure centre. 6.9 Transport system in numbers IN THE AREA OF THE NEW CENTRE OF ŁÓDŹ: there will be around 12,5 km of roads altogether, including: New roads: 3 km Redeveloped roads: 3 km Modernized roads: 3 km there are 3 km of tracks, out of which 0.7 km will be modernized. Additionally, 1,75 km of new tracks will be constructed.
