SPOT REMOVAL SYSTEM KREBS DUO - Assembly instructions - Safety indications - How to start and handle the machine - Inspection and maintenance - Trouble (cause and remedies) - Electric diagrams - Spare parts list

Page 2 OPERATING AND ASSEMBL SEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS FOR KREBS SYSTEM DUO plus These instructions are complemented by photographs which carry reference numbers for better understanding of the following. Number 1,2 and 3 for unmounted table legs. 1. Lay the System carefully on the backside. 2. Mount the 4 legs (respective key is included) (see photo D 5, No. 6) and also see page 6 of these Operating and Assembly Instructions (Mounting the 4 table legs). 3. Now put the System upright on its legs. 4. The exhaust hood (see photo D11, No. 1) can be snapped up so that the working area becomes free for placing a new piece of fabric on it. 5. Turn the suction arm in the exact position required for operation and then fix it in this position with the respective locking lever (see photo D12, No. 5). Attention! Never pull out the twin suction arm, because you risk to damage the blocking clap of the locking mechanism. 6. Put the two plastic containers for the backwater (see photo D 10, No. 1) under the table and join the hose visible on photo (D 10, No. 2) to the plastic containers by snapping on the fast lock joint. 7. Fill the plastic container marked Detergent with water and add approx. 1-3 % detergent (CV-Concentrate). Then mount suction hose for Detergent with screw cap of red silicone tube (see photo D 5, No. 12). ATTENTION! With this container and the red suction tube only tensides and water (no inflammable liquids) are allowed to be used. Use the CV-Conzentrate of KREBS/Switzerland only. This detergent is approved by us for System DUO. For damages which may result on System DUO by the use of other detergents, KREBS declines all responsibility. 8. Fill the second plastic container marked Water with water and mount the suction hose for Water with the screw cap (see photo D 5, No. 10). 9. Fix the suction tube Cleaner with screw cap onto solvent container (see photo D 5, No. 11). 10. Mount suspension system (see photo D 12, No. 1). 11. Now hook the connection hose (see photo D 12, No. 2) to the suspension system and unpack the operating head. 16-854-066 / 29.11.2007

Page 3 OPERATING AND ASSEMBL SEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS FOR KREBS SYSTEM DUO ATTENTION! You may only use solvents and liquids with a flash point of 61 C or higher. For damages to material or persons occurring through the use of other unsuitable liquids or solvents KREBS takes no responsibility at all. 12. Connect foot-switch for extractor with respective plug on the left side of the cabinet. 13. Mount filter and dryer for compressed air to the left side of the cabinet. Fix the pressure at 4-7 bar (see photo D 12, No. 4). 14. Exhaust hose can be connected to the 110 mm diameter socket (see photo D5, No. 2). 15. Exhaust hose can also be connected to the 80 mm diameter socket (see photo D5, No. 4). 16. Open frontdoor of cabinet (see photo D 4, No. 8) (safety-key included). 17. Connect main cable situated on the left side of the cabinet with respective plug to the electric main supply. 18. Connect main switch (see photo D 4, No. 7). 19. Switch on the door safety switch by pulling the white handle (see photo D 1, No. 11). Red control lamp (mains) and green control lamp (Trafo) on door light up. (see photo D4, No. 1 and No 4). ATTENTION! All the respective parts in the cabinet are now under power and the door is open. (DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING!) 20. Now the pump is active (see photo D 1, No. 2) the container (marked detergent) is slowly filling up. As the container is equipped with a floater operated automatic maximum level switch, the pumping action is automatically interrupted when the container is filled to about three quarters of its maximum capacity (see photo D 1, No. 2). 21. As soon as the container (see photo D 1, No. 2) (detergent) is filled, you can lock the safety lock (see photo D 4, No. 8) and hand over the respective key to the maintenance engineer for safe keeping, because, for reasons of staff safety, it is not desirable that the operator of the System who works on it has access to the electric part of the machine. 22. The 2 yellow heater switches (Heater), (photo D4, No. 2), for detergent and (photo D4, No. 3) for air, must now be activated by finger pressure and consequently both light up. At the same time the 2 red control lamps detergent (photo D4, No. 5) and air (photo D4, No. 6) light up. These two lamps switch off as soon as the operational temperature has been reached. ATTENTION! Only switch on heater after the detergent container (photo D1, No. 2) has been filled up. 23. Switch on ventilator with switch (photo D12, No. 3). 24. Function control: Cleaner Put selector switch (see photo D 4, No. 10) on position Cleaner. Take the handle (photo D 9, No. 7) in your hand and activate with your index finger the upper

Page 4 OPERATING AND ASSEMBL SEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS FOR KREBS SYSTEM DUO operation switch situated on the avert side of the handle (see photo D 9, No. 1) and the solvent jet Cleaner 580) will appear after a certain initial sucking up time of approx. 20-30 sec. (see photo 9, No. 5) (nozzle in the middle). 25. The rear operation knob (see photo D 9, No. 3) has no function when the selector switch is on position Cleaner. 26. Now you place the garment to be cleaned over the ventilation opening of the suction arm. (photo D12, No. 5) 27. Press the foot switch. By this you achieve the following: The suction ventilator under the working area is switched on, the fabric fixed and you can spray solvent and blow air. 28. Apply as little solvent as possible! As the solvent dries slowly, it is absolutely essential to apply only just the necessary amount of solvent for each specific dirt in that specific fabric. In practise this means, at first you apply a tiny little bit of solvent and immediately dry. You will then see on the dried fabric whether the spot has disappeared completely. If not, repeat this procedure as many times as necessary. 29. Dry immediately after spraying solvent! Bring the compressed air nozzle outlet slot, which is at the front of the handle, into direct contact with the textile material to be dried (do not press the nozzle orifice too hard against the fabric to be dried). By pressing the lower operation switch (see photo D9, No. 2) you get the compressed air out and you direct the air dispenser head lightly backwards and forwards over the area to be dried, as you would do with an electric razor. Make sure you guide the compressed air dryer in continuous plane and soft contact over the fabric. 30. Function control: Water Put selector switch (see photo D 4, No. 10) on position Water. Take the handle (photo D 9, No. 7) in your hand and activate with your index finger the upper operation switch situated on the avert side of the handle (see photo D 9, No. 1) and the detergent jet (CV Conzentrate) will appear after a certain initial sucking up time of approx. 20-30 sec. (see photo 9, No. 4) (front nozzle). 31. Then press with your thumb the switch in the rear of the handle (photo D9, No. 2) and, after a short sucking time, the rinsing jet starts spraying. 32. Press the foot switch. By this you achieve the following: The suction ventilator under the working area is switched on, the fabric fixed and you can spray detergent and blow air. 33. Apply as little Detergent as possible! As the detergent dries very slowly, it is absolutely essential to apply only just enough detergent, respectively spray only as long as absolutely necessary for that specific dirt in that specific fabric. 34. Dry immediately after spraying detergent! Bring the compressed air nozzle outlet slot, which is at the front of the handle, into direct contact with the textile material to be dried (do not press the nozzle orifice too hard against the fabric to be dried). By pressing the lower operation switch (see photo D9, No. 2) you get the compressed air out

Page 5 OPERATING AND ASSEMBL SEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS FOR KREBS SYSTEM DUO and you direct the air dispenser head lightly backwards and forwards over the area to be dried, as you would do with an electric razor. Make sure you guide the compressed air dryer in continuous plane and soft contact over the fabric. ATTENTION! THE LIQUID PUMPS RESPECTIVELY NOZZLE PRODUCE A VERY HARD JET. NEVER DIRECT OR AIM THE OPERATING HEAD TOWARDS PERSONS OR PARTS OF PERSONS AND IF YOU HAVE DELICATE FABRICS (NOT VERY RESISTANT AGAINST MECHANICAL TREATMENT) MAKE A TEST ON SUCH A FABRIC FIRST IN ORDER TO FIND OUT WHAT DISTANCE IS SUITABLE BETWEEN NOZZLE ORIFICE AND FABRIC IN ORDER TO DO EFFECTIVE AND FAST CLEANING WITHOUT DAMAGING THE FABRIC. The liquid as well as the air are fixed at temperatures which we consider right: 85 C for the liquid and 120 C for the air. Most materials can withstand to these temperatures without damage. However, the metallic ends of the operating head will get very hot and should, therefore, not be touched (like an iron!). For fabrics very sensitive to chemical pressure, it is recommended to put a piece of felt on the metal grating of the suction opening, which also makes guidance of the compressed air tube easier (not moving the tube in the correct angle is not punished so strongly when you work with a felt underneath the fabric). If you work intensively and continuously with felt underneath the fabric to be cleaned, have several such felt sections available, so that the spare ones can dry in the meantime. 35. Make sure that the backwater (see photo D 10, No. 2) really flows correctly into the backwater plastic tanks under the table. Safety elements and fuses The following remarks show where the respective fuses are placed in the System: 36. The automatic fuse (see photo D2, No. 11) is the main fuse for the remaining components, such as pumps, motors, valves etc... (not for the Blower for the working area). 37. On (photo D2, No. 15) you see the safety-cut-out for the air heater. To switch on press black button. Alarm system for water supply and backwater 40. As you can deduct from the foregoing instructions, the water supply will first be filled with water and most of the water enriched with detergent will end up in the backwater containers. Both supply containers, the one for the water and the one for the detergent, have consequently to be refilled periodically. For the backwater tanks there is no automatic alarm, these containers should be controlled and emptied from time to time to avoid overflowing. Temperature setting of the heatings 41. With the red regulating button (photo D2, No. 13 and No. 14) the heater for the detergent respectively for the air can be adjusted in a stepless way to the temperature you want. Detergent: (photo D2, No. 14) from 20 C to 85 C Air: (photo D2, No. 13) from 20 C to 140 C

Page 8 Safety Indications for KREBS SYSTEM DUO 1. ATTENTION! Use only solvents and liquids with a flash point of minimum 61 C or higher. Use the CV-Conzentrate of KREBS Switzerland only. This detergent is approved by us for System DUO. For damages to material or persons occurring through the use of other unsuitable liquids or solvents KREBS takes no responsibility at all. 2. The difference between the temperature of the working area respectively the solvents/liquids and the flash point of the solvents/liquids used has to be at least 15 C. 3. For storing the solvents and liquids the respective pertinent instructions have to be followed (correct room temperatures for storing, not exposed to direct sunlight or to the radiation of heaters etc.). 4. The exhaust air must be directed outside of the working room, and this in such a way that the exhausts are not re-introduced in the working room or other rooms through air inlets. 5. The unit may only be connected to a socket fused with a minimum of 15 A. 6. The maximum possible air pressure should not exceed 9 bar. (Response pressure on safety valves.) If you have a higher air pressure the system must be protected by a pressure reduction valve. 7. Before you remove the glass from the air filter unit, make sure that the system is disconnected from the compressed air supply first. 8. Smoking, open fires or open lights are forbidden within the vicinity of the system. 9. ATTENTION! The liquid pumps and its respective nozzle produce a very pointed, sharp jet. Never direct the working head towards a person or a body part of a person! 10. For repairs only use original parts from the manufacturer! 11. Unplug the main electric supply cord every time before opening the casing for the installations or when executing any other work on the electric parts of the system! 12. Noise emission information as per instructions (3.GSGV). The average noise emission is 75 db(a), measured in 1.5 meter height and in a distance of 0.5 meter from the edge of the system. There can, however, be top emissions up to 88 db(a). The echoing qualities of the room have not been considered in these noise emission measurements.

Page 9 Inspection and Maintenance for KREBS SYSTEM DUO 1. When the suction power of the ventilator on the working surface and the hood diminishes, please check whether the protection sieve at the entry of the ventilator is blocked with impurities. If necessary, clean. 2. Periodically the casing of the ventilator and the running wheel of the ventilator have to be checked for dirt and dirt removed. Serious soiling of the ventilator may jeopardize the safety of the ventilator! 3. The backwater containers under the table need to be emptied from time to time. 4. When the brass container on the air unit is full, please empty (see photo D4, No. 9). ATTENTION! Disconnect compressed air supply before doing so! 12 Months Guarantee The guarantee covers the remedying of all faults arising from faulty manufacture of materials without cost to the customer. This Guarantee excludes damage caused by ingress of dirt, insufficient and/or incorrect maintenance. THEO KREBS LTD. CH-8583 SULGEN
