Beautification Report TIME FOR SOME TLC IN YOUR GARDEN! After this long, wet and muggy summer your plants will need some TLC. If you skipped September s feeding, now is a good time to complete fertilizer applications for in ground plantings. What fertilizer do I use??? PALM PALM AND TROPICAL ORNAMENTAL FERTILIZER 8-2-12 TREE S AND SHRUBS TROPICAL ORNAMENTAL FERTILIZER 8-10-10 AZELEA S AND FLOWERS BLOOM SPECIAL FERTILIZER 2-10-10 KNOCK-OUT ROSES KNOCK-OUT FOOD. When you fertilize your plants & trees, do it the day before your watering day, so that the fertilizer gets watered in. In Florida we have to take care of the landscape all year round. With the cooler weather ahead it will be more enjoyable and you will get a lot more done too. Lots of trimming, weeding and feeding on the agenda for this month. Planting trees and palms gets easier during the cooler weather, add several stakes for support if affected by winds. Allow the trunk a little freedom to move. Make sure you water them for the next 30 days after planting. It s also a good time now to transplant your knock-out roses. If you transplant your roses now don t feed them right away, because you will burn the little roots. Enjoy the cooler weather it will make your yard work more pleasant, too! Happy Gardening! BEAUTIFICATION REPORT ELE The north entrance had a makeover done! The tall pine trees were infested with pine beetles and had to be taken out. The small pine trees had the pine beetles that s why we had to take them out, too. We added a bunch of new bushes, like the Crape Myrtles and the latest added Ligustrum with the Flax Lilies around them. It s looking more inviting to enter our community! The light posts in the middle island at the north entrance will be getting replaced next year. Conny Cunningham 3

Minutes of September 9, 2015 East linden estates The East Linden Estates Board of Directors held their monthly meeting on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at the VFW Hall on County Line Rd. The meeting began at 7:00 pm with a salute to the flag. Johanna appointed Chuck Hoff to remain on the Board to allow a 4 person Board. Unanimous vote to approve. Board members in attendance: Johanna Garcia, Chuck Hoff, Richard Patrie, and Joan Roberts. The Board appreciated residents in attendance. A motion was made by Chuck Hoff and seconded by Richard Patrie for Approval of the Minutes of the last meeting as published in the newsletter. Unanimous vote to approve. A motion was made by Chuck Hoff and seconded by Richard Patrie for Approval of the August Financial report as published in the newsletter. Unanimous vote to approve. Johanna announced that after speaking with our attorney that the Association must refile the Restrictions and Covenants of our Association. A notice will be included with the 2016 assessment mailing to inform residents of their rights regarding the procedure. The cost of this filing will be between $2000.00 and $2500.00. A resident brought attention to a problem in the Tennis Court area, part of the hill was washing away during the rain. Johanna will meet with our maintenance person to see what needs to be done to fix it. A resident asked who was responsible for the storm drains in easements by the street. Johanna explained that the county takes care of cleaning these drains. The county will only address specific drains with problems, they will not come and inspect all the drains, if you have a drain by your property that is full of debris, please contact her so that she can add it to the list. The county also fixes the concrete on the sidewalks, she called for 2 pieces that need to be repaired over a month ago, she s still waiting for them to be repaired. A resident asked about the traffic study on Linden and County Line, Jay reported that he has heard from the County and that the study is on a list, he s not sure when the study will be done, but at least we re on the list. Jay Gerding gave his ACC report find this info in Jay s published report. Johanna explained that trees in the main entrance were infected with bugs, this was verified by the County. All the trees had to be removed. Now the new pine trees planted are infected also and will need to be replaced. The annual Yard Sale will be on Saturday, November 14 th interested residents should contact Joan Roberts (352-200-5790) so that directional signs can be placed at the end of streets. The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 4

ACC Report Well, the weather has once again been unkind to anyone who wanted to work in their yards. It seems that the weekend comes, and so does the rain. In spite of that, many of you have taken the time to prepare your yards for Winter, and I am sure that your neighbors appreciate your efforts. Our community continues to look better and better. I still believe that ELE looks better than it has in my entire 18 year residency. Keep up the good work!! We have a lot of walkers in ELE. With that in mind, I am sure our walking neighbors would appreciate it if you were to make an effort to keep your sidewalks unobstructed. It s not something you might think about when you get home from work or when friends visit, but please make an effort to NOT park your vehicles in such a way as to obstruct the sidewalks. Also, if you have trees or shrubs along your sidewalks, please keep them cut back so as to provide a clear path. It s the neighborly thing to do. Last month I made a comment about RV parking which was misinterpreted by some. If you are bringing in your RV for a day or two to work on, load or clean, I do not need a call. However, if the stay is intended to be longer than a couple of days, please let ME know. The reason for this is that I get calls from residents concerned when you spot an RV there for an extended time. It would be helpful to know about these situations beforehand. So, call me at 352-398-9243 or drop a note to webmaster@eastlindenestates.com. Please don t call the other officers of the board, as they have enough to do and they will just refer the call to me, anyway. Thanks for your cooperation on this. Also, I neglected last month to mention anything about parking on the easements. Last year the Board voted to restrict parking on any unpaved portion of your lot. Again, we are talking about overnight or long term situations. If you are having a gathering, certainly you will need to use the easement for overflow. But please keep your vehicles in your driveway at any other time. That s it for this month. Keep up the good work!!
