LUXOMAT Application examples for electricians and planners Plan with B.E.G. comfortably and certainly Along with a great number of useful practical tips, in this chapter you will also find many application examples for various motion and occupancy detector applications in offices, corridors and underground garages, etc. Use B.E.G. s experience for successful planning to easily deploy the LUXOMAT -motion detectors. We ll help you choose the right product and find the best location. Simply send us your plans by fax or e-mail. PLANNING GUIDE 2.50 m The optimal installation location The area to be monitored must be completely covered by the detector s coverage area. Pay attention to the various ranges for sitting, direct approach and walking across. If possible, always mount the detector lateral to the direction people and vehicles are moving. 2 3 0 m 3 2 Walking towards Walking across Seated / Smaller motions 360 4 m 6 m 0 m Ensure a clear view: globes, windows, partitions, furniture, plants, suspended lights and installations limit the detector s coverage area. Pay attention to sources of interference in the coverage area. Trees, bushes, switching fan heaters, fans, all devices that generate heat sources etc. (non interfering sources are: heating radiators, computer, sunny areas, room ventilation systems). Maintain a minimum clearance of meter from switched lights. The switched lights must not be placed in the detector s coverage range (e.g. lighting underneath the detector), indirect lighting must not throw its cone of lights directly onto the detector. If possible, maintain the recommended installation height of 2.50-3.00 meters (flushmounted wall detectors.0-2.20 meters, GH-detectors for great installation heights up to 0.00 meters). Correct connection Never connect more than five devices in parallel. The more parallel detectors are connected, the larger and more confusing the coverage range becomes. That means complicated connections can lead to time-consuming troubleshooting. With several motion detectors connected in parallel, connected consumers might not switch off (can normally be solved by using an RC component). Do not switch Master occupancy detectors in parallel. Economically-priced Slave devices are available to increase the coverage area (please comply with the corresponding circuit diagrams). The correct settings Brightness value Transit areas 300 Lux Work areas (offices, meeting rooms etc.) 600 Lux Visually intensive jobs 000 Lux Brightness measurement deactivated ( sun symbol) for areas without daylight or during daytime/night-time operation Switch-off delay time for lighting control Transit areas approx. 5 min. Work area approx. 5 min. Impulse operation ( second) for triggering automatic staircase lighting switches and facility control systems Switch-off delay time for device control Depending on the type of consumer connected, 5-20 min. Impulse operation to trigger facility control systems Alarm impulse to prevent spurious triggering 2

Note: Pay special attention to the access areas. To ensure dead zones are prevented in the corridor, increase the switch-off delay time if necessary. When the detectors are being directly (radially) approached, it is critical that the range specifications specially indicated in the catalogue for frontal approach (radial approach) be taken into consideration. Corridors can be ideally kept under surveillance with both the PD4 corridor detector as well as with the Indoor 80 wall switch.
