About Us The Elm Street Center, located in the heart of historic Downtown Greensboro, is home to the Empire and Regency Ballrooms. Painstakingly renovated; the Empire Style décor of both ballrooms offer a timeless backdrop for your special day. Since opening in 2002, The Elm Street Center ballrooms have been unsurpassed in downtown Greensboro as the premiere venue for weddings and other special events for guests numbering 100 to 1000.
Our History Opening in 1949, as the prestigious Ellis Stone department store, The Elm Street Center has remained a downtown icon for over 60 years. During its lifetime the building has been witness to many events, trends and memories. To this day the Empire and Regency Ballrooms continue to be home to many special events and memories, offering a unique alternative to the traditional hotel banquet room.
