The hard work and dedication from our chapter members earned us this award. Thank you all. I know everyone has heard about the last visit to the CAPA House at least three times, but I wanted you to know that we are very close to being complete. The last two items on the list are to repair a leaky sprinkler head and install a sprinkler head in a room that was recently added to the house. Chapter members, thank you for taking the time out of your weekends to assist. I cannot say enough about how thankful we were to have Lifeguard Fire Protection and Foster Engineering & Consulting supporting this project. These two companies have managed to push through every obstacle that we faced with installing a sprinkler system in an existing structure. If support was not provided by chapter members and local fire protection companies, the CAPA House would not be able to expand the number of occupants in the house. This mission has been about providing a safe environment for neglected and disadvantaged children. Page 2 CSRA News Treasurer s Report Treasurer's Report for October 2015 Thanks to Ralph Foster & Paul Anslow for completing the audit of the books after last month s meeting. The audit showed no irregularities for the 2014-2015 year. The Chapter has gotten off to a tremendous start for the new fiscal year. Already we have 28 paid members for the year, with two Corporate Sponsors, a Corporate Supporter, and with one first time visitor at our first meeting. In addition, a gift of $2 was received from an individual member and nine members took advantage of the early bird special discounted summary meeting payment. Remember, the web site is available and allows on-line registration for meetings, membership renewals/applications, and payment for your convenience. The Chapter had an income of $195 in cash, $258 in checks, and $795 in on-line payments. The current balance on credit is $447.75.The Chapter also had expenses of $79.30, including charges for new checks for the Chapter, bringing the current total to $3,526.80, in combined checking and savings for the Chapter. Respectfully submitted, William Will Cosey, Treasurer Meeting Highlights September 15, 2015 CSRA SFPE Chapter Meting - September 15, 2015 Paul Anslow called the meeting to order at 6:03 and introduced Ralph Foster as our speaker. Ralph gave a presentation on Fire Protection Underground Piping, which included a brief overview of NFPA 24 requirements, common misconceptions, and good practices. Jason Butler called the meeting to order after the presentation by welcoming new and renewal members. Steve Angel was recognized as a visitor. New officers were then welcomed and sponsors were thanked. Paul announced that the next meeting would be at the Flight Deck in Columbia, with a possible topic on high-expansion foam for military applications. President reminded everyone that Leadercast is in Atlanta May 6th, 2016. President noted that $600.00 was donated to SFPE Foundation last year, and the chapter would like to increase it every year. It was proposed that the donation be increased from $600.00 to $625.00, which passed. The revision to CSRA Bylaws was displayed for the chapter to discuss. President requested motion to accept the changes was made and passed unanimously. Ralph discussed CAPA House progress. One more trip is needed by only a few individuals to complete this effort (approx. 1-dozen things to fix). Aiken Housing Museum was identified as the next project, currently in design phase more to come at the next meeting. President suggested all engineers to take the PE exam as soon as possible and also encouraged SFPE International memberships. Next SFPE conference is in Philadelphia in November, where CSRA will receive the SFPE Chapter Excellence Gold Award (Ralph accepting on behalf of CSRA). Tom Allison will be given the Hats Off award for his 12-years of service to SFPE. Jason closed the meeting at 1905. Respectfully submitted, Rob Plonski

Page 3 Community Involvement 2015 CSRA College Night Members of the CSRA SFPE Chapter attended the 2015 College Night in Augusta, GA, to inform high school students and parents about the vast array of careers in Fire Science and Fire Protection Engineering. Thomas Allison, Jason Butler, and Rob Plonski represented the Chapter at this event. Students and parents were given information on colleges that offer degrees in fire protection and career opportunities available upon graduation. Over 6,000 students were in attendance. CSRA News CAPA House Update The work weekend went well. We finished installing the insulation in the attic and had one small accident. No one was hurt during the accident (except for Rob s pride). The CAPA house enclosed a space during the renovation and we need to add a sprinkler head to this area to finish our work. After that a pressure test and we are finished!!! We especially want to recognize our donors for their contributors to the project: Dave Able with TYCO for the CPVC piping and fittings; Billy Morrel with Victaulic for the riser & BFP valve; Craig Woodson with Viking for the sprinkler heads; Lifeguard Fire Protection as our sponsoring contractor, manpower, and shop drawings; Beaufort Fire Department for lunch and manpower; and finally we want to thank the CAPA Organization for their patience and cooperation throughout the 6 month installation process. THANK YOU ALL!!! Pictured - Jason Butler and Rob Plonski, PE CSRA Website Are You Signed up? Chapter s best kept Secret is Our Website!
