. Product introduction This document consists of a brief description of the SLC and DLC pump controllers including product numbers for controllers, options, accessories and installation information. The SLC and DLC pump controllers are designed for level control, monitoring and protection of Grundfos pumps, in wastewater, water supply and drainage systems. Up to 5A/5 Hp, (P2) starting direct-on-line (DOL). 5 Level switches 5. Level switches SLC and DLC are available with level switches for automatic level control. Level switches supplied by Grundfos are of the non-mercury type. SLC can be fitted with up to three level switches: Min.: Stops the pump. Max.: Starts the pump. Alarm (optional): Indicates high-water level or pump fault. DLC can be fitted with up to four level switches: Min.: Stops both pumps. Max. : Starts one pump. Max. 2: Starts the other pump. Alarm (optional): Indicates high-water level or pump fault. Fig. 3 TM05 667 502 Grundfos level switches Location and position of level switches The level switches are to be installed in the collecting tank floating on the pumped liquid. The position of the level switches decides when the SLC or DLC will start and stop the pumps: When the level switch is pointing upwards, the level switch contact will be closed and the pump will start. When the level switch is pointing downwards, the level switch contact will be opened and the pump will stop. OFF ON TM00 6678 37 Fig. 2 Level switch positions How it works A level switch is a very popular way of controlling liquid levels in tanks, pits, etc. A switch, encased in a polypropylene housing, is suspended at the desired height by its own 3-core cable. When the liquid reaches a certain level, the drop-shaped level switch tips over, causing the contact to open or close. This triggers the response determined by you. The Grundfos level switches are of the non-mercury type and are available for standard and explosionproof pumps. The hermetically sealed polypropylene housing and polyurethane cable makes the level switch resistant to e.g. many chemicals, alcohol, uric acid, sewage, oils, gasoline and fruit acid. 2

0 Further product information Sizing This section is based on different fields of application and installation examples and gives easy step-by-step instructions in how to size a product: Select the most suitable and efficient pump for your installation. Carry out advanced calculations based on energy, consumption, payback periods, load profiles, life cycle costs, etc. Analyze your selected pump via the built-in life cycle cost tool. Determine the flow velocity in wastewater applications, etc. Replacement In this section you find a guide to selecting and comparing replacement data of an installed pump in order to replace the pump with a more efficient Grundfos pump. The section contains replacement data of a wide range of pumps produced by other manufacturers than Grundfos. Based on an easy step-by-step guide, you can compare Grundfos pumps with the one you have installed on your site. When you have specified the installed pump, the guide will suggest a number of Grundfos pumps which can improve both comfort and efficiency.
