The aim of the Project is to create a modern Township comprising residential, health and education facilities and upon development, the Township is envisaged as a modern Residential Township catering to an elite group. Aerotropolis at Ludhiana (1,416 ha), Ludhiana, Punjab Principal Town Planner/Urban Designer for the masterplanning of a project transforming a 1,416 ha Site in the vicinity of Ludhiana, Punjab into a comprehensive Aerotropolis. This Masterplan included a new Airport, an Industrial and Logistics Zone, an IT Hub, an Institutional Zone and complementary Township Development providing quality housing for people from all social strata and modern supporting facilities including state-of-theart Educational and Medical Institutions, a comprehensive Shopping and Leisure Centre and a Theme Park. Multi-Use Township Project (275 Ha), Chennai Principal Town Planner/Urban Designer to formulate the Master Planning Concept for this benchmark Project of IVR Prime Urban Development Ltd. The BITP is located 40 km south of Bangalore and is to be developed into an independent, self-contained and eco-friendly new Township supported by high quality infrastructure and services. The Bidadi Integrated Township will be a vibrant World Class Township with efficient commercial, residential and IT components built on a comprehensive Master Plan. Conceptual Master Layout Planning for "Development of Trade Towers and Business District" (31 ha), Manchirevula, Hyderabad Senior Urban Designer and Town Planner for the conceptual design of proposed 100 storey Trade Tower and surrounding Business District within Hyderabad. The Mixed- Use design brought together ancient Vastu planning and design principles with innovative architecture and modern urban design. The Trade Tower and Business District will be an important Landmark to the skyline of the city and a symbol of Hyderabad s growing and vibrant economy. Concept Land Use Plan (for Technical & Fee Proposal) for Sanghi City SEZ, Hyderabad Senior Town Planner and Urban Designer for the conceptual land use planning for a New Town development with Sanghi. The land use plan brought together two major elements which included a Non-Processiing Zone (New Town) and a Processing Zone (Light Industry). The aim of the design was to develop first class facilities within the Land Use Plan based upon such elements as Trans-Orientated Development, Sustainability, Neighbourhood Units and a hybrid of modern and vernacular architecture within the region. Diamond Harbour Road Site Development, Kolkata Project Manager and Senior Town Planner/Urban Designer for a preliminary concept architecture and masterplanning design project encompassing residential and retail/commercial uses over three integrated sites. The scheme sought to provide the client with a flagship residential and commercial development based upon innovative architecture and design. The proposal took advantage of the site s high profile location on Diamond Harbour Road in providing a form of residential and commercial development new to Kolkata. Comprehensive Development of Residential, Commercial & Entertainment Facilities (9.7ha) at Prantika, Durgapur, West Bengal Senior Town Planner and Urban Designer for a preliminary masterplanning design scheme. The scheme encompassed high-income, middle-income and low-income housing groups, retail and entertainment uses and a bus terminus. A major component of the brief was with regard to the re-locating on site of already existing hawkers and hawker stalls. The scheme has been brought before the Local Government for community discussion and approval. PROJECTS: TUNISIA Integrated Tourism Development Project (1,110 ha) N.E. Tunisia, (Private Sector - Legend Development) Associate Urban Designer/Town Planner on a project preparing a Conceptual Master Plan for a mixed use development on a Site comprising a portion of Zembra Island (110ha) to the east of Tunis and an area of around 1,000 hectares of coastline on the mainland to the west of Sidi Daoud. The project is proposed to comprise a comprehensive tourism development to include hotels/resorts, spa/health/medical tourism facilities, golf courses, conference facilities, marinas, casinos and other recreation and entertainment facilities, residential (holiday/second homes) and supporting retail development and is intended to assist in the positioning of Tunisia as a high end tourism and leisure destination. PROJECTS: INDONESIA Telaga Gading Serpong Residential Subdivision Project (120 ha) Jakarta, (Private Sector - Summarecon Serpong) Associate Urban Designer/Town Planner for the development of a subdivision for a new residential district to cater for the high market demand of this emerging area. The general concept of the Masterplan of the development was to establish an appealing residential environment that takes advantage of existing natural features of the Site. This was achieved by introducing an integrated network of open space corridors that link a proposed Lake Park, River Park and Central Park with surrounding residential clusters. Kota Baru Parahyangan Town Centre Design Competition (60 ha) Bandung, (Private Sector - Pt. Belaputera Intiland - Subsidiary of Lyman Group) TOWNLAND were commissioned by PT. Belaputera Intiland to undertake a Master Layout Plan study for a Town Centre development outside Bandung, As Associate Urban Designer/Town Planner, the primary design strategy was to create a strong identity for the Town Centre with a unique yet clear urban fabric structure with four major integrated development catalysts that included: a Creative Hub, Lifestyle Centre, Living and Leisure Precinct and a Creative Industry Village. Grand Orchard Development (48.8 ha) - Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, (Private Sector Summarecon Agung Tbk) Associate Urban Designer/Town Planner for the master planning of a self-sufficient residential neighbourhood comprising of several high-end villa clusters and a neighbourhood centre. The Masterplan promotes an environmentally friendly residential neighbourhood by introducing an urban linear community park with strong pedestrian connectivity while maintaining the commercial viability of the development. The design phase is completed and the Project is currently under construction. An FIABCI AWARD was received from the Federation Internationale des Adminstrateurs de Biens Conseils et Agent Immobiliers / International Real Estate Federation for this Grand Orchard Development as the Best High-end Real Estate Development in Indonesia 2009. The "green spine" and the high quality of residential environment are the major features acknowledged by the Jury. Mr McMahon's major contribution as Urban Design Team Leader to this Development is recognized in the Award. Land Use Planning of Land in Phase 2 Kota Modern (410 ha), Tangerang, Jakarta - (Private Sector - PT. Modernland Realty, Tbk) Principal Town Planner/Urban Designer for a Land Use Planning Study with the vision of an Aerotropolis City. A strategic land use plan comprising a new airport-linked community integrated with logistics businesses was proposed to include a Free Trade Zone, International Enclaves and Distribution Centre to attract the airline related businesses and foreign investment. Master Planning of Bintaro Mixed-Use Lifestyle Centre (21 ha), Bintaro, Jakarta Principal Town Planner/Urban Designer for the preparation of a Conceptual Master Layout Plan for the Bintaro Lifestyle Centre. The Site area comprised some 21 ha of land and is located in the Bintaro CBD. A new concept was developed for the Lifestyle Centre which envisaged an urban eco-village comprising of low, medium and high rise garden offices, serviced apartments, a hotel and convention centre, a spa / health village and sports club and a comprehensive and innovative themed retail mall set around a rainforest landscape enclosed by a glass canopy. PROJECTS: POLAND Master Planning for an Integrated Township Development (175 ha) Zabrze, Poland Principal Town Planner/Urban Designer for 175 ha (approx) of land adjacent to the City Centre in the City of Zabrze, Poland. The development is to comprise an integrated residential/golf neighbourhood supported by commercial and retail uses. PROJECTS: TAIWAN (ROC) Station Area Development of Taiwan High Speed Rail for the Taiwan High Speed Rail Corporation - Taichung, Taoyuan, Chiayi and Tainan Stations [THSRC] Senior Town Planner and Urban Designer on a project undertaking research and preparation of Conceptual Master Layout Plans and Regulatory Detail Planning for 4 key stations (Taichung, Tayouan, Chaiyi and Tainan Stations) on the Taiwan High Speed Rail Line. The intention of this Station Area Project is to develop the theme of Sustainable Eco-City Community Development with an emphasis on Trans-Orientated Development (TOD). PROJECTS: CAPE VERDE Tourism Resort Development in Praia, San Tiago Island (40 ha), Republic of Cape Verde Senior Urban Designer on a preliminary masterplanning design scheme to develop a high quality resort destination along an area of beachfront and an Island along the southern coastline of Praia, Republic of Cape Verde comprising a total of 40ha (approx) of development. The Resort will comprise a series of resort complexes based on the themes, influences and signature architecture of a variety of popular Asian resort destinations (i.e. Thailand, Indonesia (Bali) and Malaysia) in addition to recreation and entertainment complexes, a marina and yacht club comprising a 5 Star Resort Hotel, Low Density Condominium Development, landscaped parks, and Restaurants, Cafes & Bars along the waterfront and other tourism related facilities. A Conceptual Master Layout Plan is being prepared for the development to realize the Client s vision having regard to future marketability and viability, integration with the future development context (in Cape Verde and Praia City) and overall sustainability. PROJECTS: EAST TIMOR Tourism Resort Development in 3 Bays at Ponta Fatossidi for Tourism Destinations & Supporting Uses (500 ha), East Timor Senior Urban Designer for a preliminary masterplanning design scheme The scheme includes a series of tourist destinations including resorts and associated facilities which are proposed to be developed on 500ha (approx) of land in 3 Bays to the north-east of Dili, East Timor. Upon development, a vibrant tourism activity centre will be created providing for uses such as cafes, restaurants, bars, nightclubs and retail shops for tourists and visitors to the area, fringed by exclusive resorts, an entertainment complex and casino, lower intensity resort developments, an international standard golf course, a marina and private oceanfront golf course residences. PROJECTS: HONG KONG (SAR) Land Use Planning for the Closed Area - F.S., Planning Department Provision of urban design inputs to guide future planning and design of the areas to be released from the Closed Area, including advice on specific land use/development proposals. North East New Territories New Development Areas. Planning and Engineering Study - Investigation, Civil Engineering and Development Department Provision of urban design inputs for the planning of the Kwu Tung North, Fanling North and Ping Che/Ta Kwu Ling New Development Areas. Urban Design Statements for Objections lodged with the Town Planning Board against Amendments to the Kowloon Tong Outline Zoning Plan (OZP), Hong Kong Preparation of Urban Design Statements in support for the relaxation of building heights and as part of an Objection lodged against Amendments made to the Kowloon Tong OZP. Conservation Proposal under Private Public Partnership with Spa Hotel and Elderly Housing (Pilot Study - 103 ha), Wu Kau Tang, Tai Po, New Territories A Pilot Conservation Proposal under the Public-Private Partnership arrangement was prepared for a 103 ha site in Wu Kau Tang, Tai Po under the Nature Conservation Policy of the Hong Kong Government. Special attention was given to the site appraisal and the baseline review of the ecological values of the site in order to formulate and ecologically and environmentally sensitive proposal which would enhance and conserve the natural environment as well as regenerate existing dilapidated villages and their heritage. As Senior Town Planner and Urban Designer, the role was responsible for preparing a conceptual Master Layout Plan that included such uses as: an Eco-corridor and and Ecological Area; Conservation and Education Area; a Health and Wellness Spa Hotel; Medicinal Herbal Exhibition Centre and Botanical Garden, Camp Site; and a Hakka Heritage Village and Existing Village Extension Areas. The role required close collaboration with the Client, Government, Environmental and Engineering Consultants, Key Stakeholders (including Green Groups) and the local village community. PROJECTS: MAINLAND CHINA (PRC) Dalian Chemical Plant Redevelopment Master Plan (360 ha), Dalian, Liaoning Province - (Government) Associate Urban Designer/Planner for a competition to prepare a Conceptual Master Layout Plan for the Dalian Chemical Plant Redevelopment Site. The Master Layout Plan envisages the transformation of an area of approximately 360 ha into a place for contemporary living with a wide range of residential, commercial, business, tourism and social/community activities. The Master Layout Plan reflects the strategic position of the planned Diamond Port concept and responds to existing and planned infrastructure. The foreshore has been carefully considered to create an active space for residents and visitors, reflecting the prime location while maintaining a sense of history for the Site. Conceptual Masterplanning and Broad Conceptual Architecture along Shengli Avenue (110 ha), Dongying City, Shandong Province (Government) Project Manager for the preparation of a Conceptual Master Layout Plan for an area of 110 ha, as well as Broad Conceptual Architectural design for the three main exhibition halls. The main Concept of the plan was to create mixed development of open spaces and commercial recreational uses. Based on exhibitions of Huanghe Culture and Petroleum Culture, the Site Area was divided into an Exhibition & Sightseeing Zone, a Waterfront Commercial Service Zone, a Themed Recreation and Adventure Zone, Sports and Recreational Zone, and lastly a Resort Villa Zone. In addition to this, various supporting recreational uses will be integrated and developed within each of these five zones. Urban Design for the Site Surrounding Suzhou Hi-Tech Industrial Park Inter-City Railway Station (164 ha), Xu Tong District, Suzhou - (Government) Project Manager for an international design competition to undertake urban design of an area surrounding the Suzhou Hi-Tech Area Inter-City Railway Station. The Masterplan aimed to create a comprehensive mixed-use sub-centre for the Suzhou Hi-Tech Area. A band of commercial and retail uses aligned east to west have been located directly on either side of the Station area. The design introduced a central man-made lake utilizing the natural landscape resources along the existing Great Canal that lies to the south of the Site. Four high end waterfront residential clusters have been located around the central lake area, as well as along the Great Canal. New Town Development on a Site on the South Bank of Pihe (200 ha) in Jintang, Chengdu, Sichuan Province Principal Town Planner/Urban Designer for the preparation of a Conceptual Master Layout Plan and Land Parcel Plan for a New Town Development supported by a host of tourism amenities including Spa and Health Centre, Hotel and Convention Centre as well as waterfront development featuring retail malls, serviced apartments, bars and restaurants. Conceptual Planning and Design of Science and Technology New Town of Lidong (4,300 ha), New District of Guilin City, Guangxi Province (Received 2 nd Prize for an International Design Competition) Project Manager and Principal Town Planner/Urban Designer for the Conceptual Planning and Design of a Science and Technology New Town of Lidong situated within the New District of Guilin City. The project aimed at attracting outside investment in the Research and Development sector. The Planning and Development Strategy provided the following: an introduction of a variety of land uses; a select range of economic infrastructure; high quality residential living options; an integrated network of parks, open spaces and civic amenity spaces; first class tourism/leisure attractions and activities; an integrated internal transport network with external connectivity, preservation and enhancement of Lidong s existing mountains and rivers; and a demonstrated commitment to sustainable development. Planning and Design for Land Surrounding Beijing Metro Liuli Qiao (West) Station (Lines 9 & 10) (59.6ha), Beijing (Received 2 nd Prize for an International Design Competition) Project Manager and Principal Town Planner/Urban Designer for the preparation for Government of a Planning and Design Strategy for approx. 60 ha of land surrounding the proposed Beijing Metro Liuli Qiao (West) Station (Lines 9 and 10). Based upon the principles of Transit Oriented Development (TOD), the Strategy aimed to effectively maximise and utilise land by directly integrating the Liuli Qiao (West) Station and its Passenger Transport Hub, with other traffic modes and surrounding land uses. Planning and Urban Design Development Strategy of Xiamen's West Railway Station's Nucleus Area (121 ha), North of Jimei District, Xiamen, Fujian Province (Received 3 rd Prize for an International Design Competition) Senior Town Planner and Urban Designer for the detailed planning and design of the Core Area surrounding a proposed High Speed Rail Station located within West Xiamen. The Masterplan provided design solutions to effectively move pedestrians from the High Speed Rail Station into the surrounding Mixed-Use, Commercial and Residential neighbourhoods. The design introduced innovative architectural forms that clearly defined circulation, major open spaces, intersections and surrounding areas with distinctive, identifiable and memorable character. Urban Design of Lakeside Reservoir District (413 ha) CBD of Xiamen, Fujian Province (Received 2 nd Prize for an International Design Competition) Senior Town Planner and Urban Designer on a project that prepared an Urban Design and Master Layout Plan for a 413 ha Central Business District (CBD) centred on an existing reservoir within Xiamen. The role was responsible in providing a conceptual Land Use Plan incorporating uses such as commercial, residential, and leisure uses the along the banks of the reservoir and linked by an integrated open space system. Old District Residential Redevelopment for Southern Side of Jialing Road and Hillside in Shapingba District (20 ha), Chongqing Senior Town Planner for the masterplanning feasibility study of a mixed-use development along Jialing Road. The development predominatntly consisted of residential towers along with anciliary hotel/service apartment uses, commercial tower and retail/commercial podium development. Resort Tourism and New Town Development (800 ha) Li Jiang River, North Guilin, Guangxi Province Senior Town Planner and Urban Designer for Phase 1 of a Resort and New Town Development along Li Jiang River within Guilin. The development is proposed to comprise of several resorts, a host of leisure and recreational facilities, resort style villa living, residential apartments as well as a Town Centre. It is envisaged that the Site will become a premier tourism destination that will compliment the rapidly developing tourist destinations within Guilin. Planning and Design of Yangchunhu Sub-Centre (1,100ha) Wuhan, Hubei Province Senior Town Planner and Urban Designer for the detailed planning and design of the Core Area surrounding a proposed High Speed Rail Station located within the Yangchunhu Sub-Centre. The Masterplan provided design solutions to effectively move pedestrians from the High Speed Rail Station into the surrounding commercial centre. The design introduced an architectural form that clearly defined circulation axes, major open spaces, intersections and surrounding areas with distinctive, identifiable and memorable character. Tourism Resort and Associated Developments in Chengyang District (1,000 ha), Qingdao City, Shandong Province Senior Planner and Urban Designer for a comprehensive tourism-focussed development project on approx. 1,000 ha of land in the Chengyang District of Qingdao City, incorporating a theme park, canal style residential villas, a Fisherman s Wharf, hotels, golf course, artificial beaches and other related sporting facilities. The objective of the Study is to develop a Conceptual Master Layout Plan for the development. Bei Yuan North Road Planning Study (18.66 sq km), Jinan City, Shandong Province TCL was commissioned by Shandong Province Construction Bureau to prepare an overall land use plan alongside either side of Bei Yuan North Road for a distance of 12.8 km, as well as the conceptual design of four bus interchanges. The proposal was in preparation for the introduction of a Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) system within the city of Jinan. As Senior Town Planner and Urban Designer the role was responsible for the detailed planning and design of one of the four BRT interchange stations (Li Shan Road), that included the conceptual design of immediately surrounding land uses and buildings as well the pedestrian, bicycle and vehicular circulation in and around the interchange. Tourism Resort Development at Heng Qin Islands, (3,100 ha), Zuhai, Guangdong Province Senior Town Planner and Urban designer for Phase 1 (1,200 ha) of a Comprehensive Tourism Resort Development on the southern portion of Heng Qin Island, Zhuhai. The development is proposed to comprise of several themed resorts, a host of leisure and recreational facilities centered around a fresh water lake and within a mountain setting, resort style villa living opportunities and two championship 18 hole golf courses of international standard. Upon development, the Site is envisaged to become a premier tourism destination that will complement the rapidly developing tourist destinations of Macau and Zhuhai. Land Use Planning and Master Planning for Qingyin Highway (18.55 km), Qingdao City, Shandong Province Senior Town Planner and Urban Designer for a project relating to the preparation of a land Use and masterplanning scheme for a land area covering 500m on either side of Qingyin Higway. Qingyin Highway acts as one of the major entry points into Qingdao City from the airport. The project also required the detailed planning and design of four focus areas, including two residential precincts; Research & Development (R&D) Park; and an Ecological Recreation Park. International Competition of City Design and Land-use Planning of the Main Traffic Route Area (19,600 ha) of Foshan City, Foshan, Guangdong Province TCL was selected by the Foshan Planning Bureau to undertake a study involving the construction of Foshan s first Ring Road (99.2km) to alleviate traffic congestion around the City s central core. The Study Area encompassed all land areas within 1km of the Ring Road. In undertaking the project, detailed background research and site analysis was carried out on all suburbs and districts within Foshan City as well as their role with Guandong Province and the Pearl River Delta. A revised Land Use Plan was prepared with full planning justifications to direct the future growth and development of Foshan City. In addition, 3 focus areas were chosen within the Study Area for detailed design. These included a Town Centre, an Ecological Park and a High Tech Park. As Senior Town Planner and Urban Designer, the role was responsible for the detailed planning and design of two of the focus areas, including the Town Centre and High Tech Park, as well as directing TCL s Jakarta office during the design process. Waterfront Conceptual Land Use Planning (470 ha), Xiang an District, Xiamen (Received 2 nd Prize for an International Design Competition) Senior Town Planner and Urban Designer for a project that prepared a visionary Master Layout Plan for the Xiamen City waterfront area. Mixed use residential, commercial and tourism related uses were incorporated into the overall design, which included staged island reclamation on existing salt farm and aquaculture mudflat areas. This strategy resulted in a unique and ecologically sustainable model for the development of the area, as well as reaffirming Xiamen s leading role in environmental conservation, and creation of a quality lifestyle. Detailed Planning Design Proposal for the New Canal Town in Southern China (17.5 ha), Zhu Jia Jiao, Shanghai Qingpu District Project Manager, Senior Town Planner/Urban Designer for the preparation of a Master Layout Plan for an International Design Competition with over 200 participants, for the development of Zhujiajiao Water Village south of Shanghai. The masterplan proposal for Zhujiajiao Water Village was based upon the spirit of the historic canal towns of the region and consisted of clusters of low-rise residential orthogonal blocks of varying heights set on a backdrop of introduced canals and open space courtyards. Conceptual Masterplan of Zhoushan and Surrounding Islands (72,144 ha), Zhejiang Province (Received 1 st Prize for an International Design Competition & Certificate of Merit from the Hong Kong Institute of Planners HKIP) TCL were selected by the Urban Planning Society of China on behalf of the Zhoushan Government, Zhejiang Province, to conduct a comprehensive strategic planning study to position future development of Zhoushan Main Island and Surrounding Islands. Zhoushan is the largest archipelago in China and has the benefit of a very long, deepwater coast and a rich production of fishery products. The study proposed that the planned population should be increased from its existing 0.4 million to 1 million, the economic structure should be further diversified to have five major industries, namely, Shipbuilding, Industrial Processing, Port, Fishery and Tourism, and the City should concentrate on the development of one Mega Town Centre, allowing for multiple small urban cores. Numerous design concepts, including Industrial Ecology Chain, Shipbuilding Park, Fishermen's Island, Airport and Port Logistics Park and Copper Coast, have been adopted. As Town Planner and Urban Designer on the project, the role was responsible for the detailed planning and design of two detailed focus areas, including the Port Logistics Park and Fisherman s Island. Urban Design of CBD and Central Area of Zigong City (400 ha), Sichuan Province (Received 3 rd Prize for an International Design Competition) Town Planner and Urban Designer on a project that prepared an Urban Design and Master Layout Plan for a 400 ha Central Business District (CBD) of Zigong City. An emphasis was placed on linking and incorporating the functions of a Commercial Service District, a Logistic Central District, and a Lantern Culture and Leisure District to the CBD, with a focus on green environments. Chengdu Hi-Tech District Dayuan West Sub-District, Planning and Design (600 ha), Sichuan Province Town Planner and Urban Designer on a project that prepared a Master Layout Plan for a new District Centre of Dayuan West Sub-District in Chengdu that integrated high-class residential living with mixed-use developments such as retail, commercial and entertainment/recreational facilities. The urban design has taken on the concept of a flower. The flower theme symbolised the potential for the Dachuan District to grow into an attractive residential neighbourhood full of life and beauty. Conceptual Planning Design of Eastern Penisula (600 ha,) Dong Cheng Ban Dao, Hechuan City, Chongqing (Received 1 st Prize for an International Design Competition) Town Planner and Urban Designer on a project that prepared a Master Layout Plan for a 600 ha Resort Town Development within the Eastern Peninsula of Hechuan City of Chongqing. The Site was divided into six precincts including a Comprehensive Town Development Area / Hechuan Transit Town; Hechuan Resort; Holiday Homes; Gold Coast; Hechuan Tourism Destination; and The Peak and Country Park. The design aimed to beautify the Peninsula as well as to develop homes for residents, places for workers, transit towns for drivers and destinations for tourists and recreationists. Hua Sheng Tourism Real Estate Development Masterplan Layout (120.6 ha), Xian, Shanxi Province (Received 3 rd Prize for an International Design Competition) Concept Planner on a project setting out planning and design concepts and a Master Layout Plan for a tourism and real estate development on a 120.6 hectare site in the south of Xian. Upon development, the site is envisaged to be transformed into a lively and dynamic tourism destination supported by high quality single detached villa residential development, parklands and other facilities including clubhouses, a health spa complex, a festival markets complex, resort hotels and villas, a conference and exhibition centre, a sports complex and a commercial complex servicing local needs. Detailed market research was undertaken in order to set out viable and cost effective development proposals, which are in line with market demand. City Image and Urban Design Guidelines for the Central Area (170 ha), Lijia Cluster, New Northern District, Chongqing Town Planner and Urban Designer for a masterplanning project incorporating commercial, institutional and residential uses. TCL was commissioned to prepare a Master Layout Plan as well as detailed planning and urban design guidelines for a New Town development within Lijia. The aim of the project was to development planning and design regulations and parameters to guide further development within the New Town, for both the government and for potential future developers and investors. The role was responsible for directing the design team, within TCL s Jakarta office, and all planning and design inputs to the conceptual Master Layout Plan and Urban Design Guidelines. Nanhu Ecological Town Master Plan (802 ha), Zigong City, Sichuan Province (Received 2 nd Prize for an International Design Competition) Urban Designer on a project which prepared a Master Layout Plan for a 802 hectare ecological town and a detailed design for the primary access avenue into the town, for the Zigong City Planning Bureau. The design concept focused on developing a high quality new town based on ecologically sustainable design principles. Upon completion of the project, the area will incorporate a main commercial and financial district, sporting venues, recreational destinations and mixed-use residential neighborhoods for Zigong City. The role was responsible for directing the design team, within TCL s Jakarta office, and all planning and design inputs to the conceptual Master Layout Plan. City Image Design for the Central Area (170 ha), Lijia Cluster, New Northern District, Chongqing (Received 1 st Prize for an International Design Competition) Town Planner and Urban Designer for a masterplanning project that incorporated both R&D and residential uses. The natural topographic character, retention of the existing reservoir and need for adequate community facilities was incorporated into the design. The role was responsible for directing the design team, within TCL s Jakarta office, and all planning and design inputs to the conceptual Master Layout Plan and design of the activity nodes and major streetscapes of two axial roads. Urban Design of Suzhou High-Tech Industrial Region s Lake Area (3000 ha), Huanghu District, Jiangsu Province (Received 3 rd Prize for an International Design Competition) Town Planner and Urban Designer for the masterplanning and design of 30 square kilometres in Western Sichuan adjacent to the tourist and biodiversity hotspot of Taihu Lake. The core function of the project was to accommodate urban development and tourism within a sensitive lakeside area, whilst limiting its impact on the environment. The Master Layout Plan illustrated self-sufficient urban villages focused around a lake accommodating up to 50,000 people, with the potential to allow for a further 30,000 people in the future. Planning challenges included the implementation of planning mechanisms to protect the scenic beauty of the area prior to development taking place, and the resettlement of a community of more then 10,000 people. Cultural and Recreational Project within She Shan National Tourism Resort, Songjiang Satellite City (310 ha), Shanghai Town Planner and Urban Designer for a Concept Planning and Strategic Positioning project for Shanghai Media & Entertainment Group, one of the largest media conglomerates in China. An International Design Competition was undertaken to develop innovative concepts, themeing, and branding for a proposed large scale and internationally famous Entertainment Park, movie making centre, resort, and conference/exhibition centre. TCL also analysed the market demand for the concept, and proposed development s strategic positioning in the marketplace. The proposed market concept and master plan developed by TCL proposes a development that reflected the Clients image, providing a stage on which to showcase the talents and varied assets of SMEG. The plan outlined a series of architecturally distinctive landmark buildings, reflecting the Clients reputation for landmark architecture most notably Shanghai s most famous building the Oriental Pearl TV Tower. Alterations and Additions to Lucky Holiday Hotel, Nan An District (5.3 ha), Chongqing Urban Designer for the alterations and additions to an existing resort-type hotel on a site of approx. 5.3 ha on the ridge on the far side of the Yangtze River from Chongqing CBD. The purpose was to enhance the profitability of the hotel operation and increase the value of the project by increasing the total gross floor area, improving access to views, adding recreational and dining facilities and mitigating visual impacts. Urban Design for Shapingba Riverfront Promenade (54 ha), Shapingba District, Chongqing (Certificate Awarded) Urban Designer for the preparation of a Master Layout Plan for a riverfront area comprising of high quality waterside residential and commercial developments. The site represented important historic, cultural and tourist assets, suggesting a strong leisure and recreational theme for planning and design as well as the conservation of high value historical elements. The aim was to provide a waterfront of world-class standard that will improve the environment, benefit local residents and attract investment within the district. The role was responsible for the overall urban design of the waterfront and graphical presentation. The project gained the approval from the Chinese Central Government. Resort Feasibility Study for Wuzhizhou Island (148 ha), Sanya District, Hainan Island Project Manager and Town Planner/Urban Designer on a study establishing the feasibility for the development of a 5 star resort island at Hainan Island, Mainland China. A series of international case studies were analysed to draw out key lessons that were then applied to the development of Wuzhizhou Island. Following this, the initial land use concepts, a conceptual master layout plan, initial development parameters and a planning and design brief was formulated as the basis for the organisation for a detailed design competition which was put to international tender.
