Introduction Pre-Arrival SEAHOUSES-HERITAGE-COTTAGES CRASTER SQUARE Access Statement For CLAMSHELL COTTAGE Clamshell Cottage is a converted stone built traditional terraced cottage in the original historic courtyard at the heart of the old fishing quarter of Seahouses. The courtyard is paved in a traditional style and the area is enhanced by garden planting, large pots and a stunning old oak table with assorted seating which is a popular social gathering point in finer weather for owners & visitors alike. Clamshell cottage entrance is in the left hand corner next to the Giant Clamshell water feature There is a 2.cm (1 ) step to a smooth surface at the front door with an all weather door mat in front. Arrival & Car Parking Facilities Car parking is available in our reserved spaces adjacent to the courtyard on South Street extra cars will be directed to safe parking close by. Disabled spaces are available in Seahouses Car Park 250m. Directly outside the courtyard for 20 metres, the road & pavements opposite are in need of repair (this has planning for improvement in the near future) after which they are level and in good state. There is a steep incline down to the harbour and again on the other side up onto the main road, however it is possible to walk on level ground to the shops, post office, pubs and restaurants through the pedestrian way opposite the Black Swan pub, Ground floor! 1
Main Entrance & Reception The main entrance is the front door in the courtyard. The key for this door is located with owners at No 1 and handed over on arrival. The front door is 84cm x 197cm, with the hinge on the right. The keyhole is 99cm high. The front door opens onto an entrance area with stairs directly facing and door to shower-room/wc, to left of stairs in Lobby. Coat Hooks (two tiers) are located behind front door. Door to Lounge to the left. The light switches for Entrance & stairs, are just inside the front door on the left. The electricity meter ( 1) cupboard is located in the entrance area above coat hooks and small safety steps are provided for those less tall The entrance area has heavy duty carpeting through to lounge and baskets for outdoor footwear at foot of stairs. On the coffee table in the lounge is the 'Welcome Pack' which has details about the cottage within it. Guests are highly recommended to read it thoroughly to familiarise themselves with safety aspects in place throughout cottage. Window overlooks the patio Fire extinguisher & fire blanket are 176cm high The work surface is 54cm high and 50cm deep. The sink and electric oven are also at 92cm high. The electric oven & grill can be accessed from the front. Above the cooker is an extractor unit A Kettle, Toaster, Bread bin, Microwave, Knife Holder & Food prep utensils, Trays, Wine rack, are also available on the three work tops. Crockery, Glasses, Cups, Children s crockery/cutlery, Catering dishes, Cutlery, Cooking utensils and Pans etc are provided in the cupboards both above and below the work surfaces. Cleaning materials are in the under-sink cupboard. The end cupboard is available for guests food storage also contains a portable BQ! 2

The conservatory floor is ceramic tiled 1 x 2seat Sofa, 2 x Chairs, Footstool & Coffee table Lighting Wall and standard lamp with reading light Convector/fan heater The oblong extending dining table has a lift & turn leaf (maximum size 90cm wide x 125cm long x 73cm high), there are 6 dining chairs in total. Shower-room Ground floor shower room. This is accessed through the entrance lobby Door 78cm wide by 194cm high. The toilet seat is 44cm high - the space to the right is 80cm and to the left 14cm. The Vanity Unit/Wash basin height is 83cm. Sliding mirror cabinet with three sections which contain three shelves each, unbreakable toothbrush mugs, complementary toiletries. The step into the shower cubicle is 30cm high, with the width of the shower door opening being 46cm The height of the shower unit is 177cm The room also has 1 wall mounted towel rail & 2 tier hooks behind door The floor surface is ceramic tiles Ceiling mounted Extractor fan Wall mounted Fan Heater Staircase & Landing The staircase carpeted in pile carpet leads directly from the entrance area. From the entrance there are 15 steps to the upstairs landing point. There is a rope hand rail on the left hand side 84cm above the treads. The lowest head clearance on the stairs is 170cm. The staircase landing section is 180cm x 126cm. NB: Top of stairs low beam (180cm - 126cm clearance) at left hand turn The landing has an Antique Washstand which contains Games, Jigsaws & indoor toys for children, stored to the side is a Safety Gate, Highchair & Clothes Airer.
