Owner s Guide J8810 / SM-610 Herbal Steamer Package Contents: 1 Steamer Unit 1 Herbal Basket 1 Glass Container 1 Stand with rollers (Unassembled) 1 Silicone Rubber O-ring Assembly Instructions: Separate the parts for the stand Insert legs into round plastic base as shown above. It is easier to assemble on the floor. After all 5 legs are in place, place large flat retainer over the bottom. Align holes in retainer plate with the bolt holes on the legs. Start the threading the bolts only partially. You may need to pick up slightly on the legs or the retainer plate to get all the bolts started. Please see picture above.

Using a 14mm wrench or socket, firmly tighten all 5 bolts as shown here. Next remove the long bolt from the center post of the stand. Carefully lift the 5 leg base and place over the bottom of the center post. Press the five leg base firmly on the post from the center. Place the long bolt through the center hole and thread by hand, then tighten it firmly using a 14mm wrench or socket. Assembled, your stand should look like this.

Take the chrome center post and determine the end that fits over the post on the bottom of the steamer. The post on the bottom of the steamer will only fit one end of the chrome post that fits into the stand. Once you have determined the correct end to fit into the stand, insert the chrome post into the stand. It may require some effort to get it started. If you have difficulty, turn the stand upside down and press the stand onto the chrome post. Once the chrome post is inserted, you may thread the height adjustment knob into the stand, but do not tighten. Place the steamer onto the stand and press it down to the desired height and then tighten the knob as shown here. Make sure the knob on the center post is loose and not screwed in past the black ring at the top of the stand. Insert the end of the chrome post that does not fit over the post on the bottom of the steamer. The white post has a spring inside, so use caution that the chrome post does not spring towards the face. ** CAUTION: Never put your face directly over the post or steamer to adjust the height. The spring mechanism that pushes the post up may force the post to spring into your face causing serious injury. Always make sure to have your face away from the post and hold the post or steamer with the other hand when loosening the knob or securing ring on the stand.

Place the steamer on the stand. Install the glass jar holder to the bottom of the steamer. Place the silicone o-ring on to the glass jar. With the silicone wring on the jar, swing the bracket that holds the jar back and carefully place the glass jar into the metal ring on the bottom of the steamer, swing the bracket down and firmly tighten the black knob to hold the glass jar firmly in place. Use caution and do not over tighten the glass jar or it will break. 1. To adjust the height, simply loosen the securing knob or locking ring and a spring will assist in raising the steamer height. ** CAUTION: Never put your face directly over the post or steamer to adjust the height. The spring mechanism that pushes the post up may force the post to spring into your face causing serious injury. Always make sure to have your face away from the post and hold the

post or steamer with the other hand when loosening the knob or securing ring on the stand. 2. To adjust the spray nozzle are, loosen the small black knob on the top of the machine and adjust to the desired height, then tighten the knob again before use. 1. This is the locking mechanism for the 1. 3. Cap, Water Fill, & Herbal basket steamer arm. Turn it clockwise to tighten and counter clockwise to loosen. DO NOT MOVE THE ARM UP OR DOWN WITHOUT LOOSENING THE KNOB FIRST. 2. Steamer Arm 4. Power for heating element 5. Timer 6. Power for ozone lamp 2. Movable Steamer arm 3. Water fill cap. Herbal basket fits inside cap. See below. 4. Power for heating element. 5. Timer. The timer activates the power when the time. Always allow the time to run out. NEVER TURN TIMER BACK TO 0 MANUALLY. 6. Power for ozone lamp. Ozone lamp is located near the spray portion of the nozzle. Do not twist the spray nozzle around. It will only turn about 45º in each direction. Herbal basket assembly: When removing the cap or herb basket from the cap, twist and pull. Only use dry herbs or bagged teas. DO NOT USE ESSENTIAL OIL. Operating Instructions: 1. Before plugging the steamer into the outlet, make sure that the power switches are in the Off position. 2. Place the rubber o-ring on the glass container so that the channel of the o-ring fits over the glass. 3. Place the glass container up into the round area on the bottom of the steamer and tighten the knob to hold the glass container in place. 4. Remove the large Black Cap and pour DISTILLED water into the hole at the top of the steamer until the glass container is filled to the red line near the top of the container. ** CAUTION: Filling the container above the maximum level line on the glass jar can result in boiling water being forced through the spray nozzle causing serious burns to anyone in the direction where the spray nozzle is pointed. Never handle the glass container when the steamer is in use or has been used recently. The glass may be hot and could cause serious burns. (Use of non-distilled water will cause minerals

to buildup on or discolor the heating element of the steamer and thereby decrease the amount of hours it will work.) 5. Only once the glass container has been filled to the proper level should the steamer be plugged into the outlet and the power switch turned ON. 6. Turn the timer dial to the appropriate time for use and wait for the steam to begin. The heating element will not start if just the power switch is on. The timer must be in use for the heating element to work. 7. After steam begins to be emitted through the spray nozzle, you may choose to turn ON the Ozone lamp. 8. Add herbs to the basket and set it into the top of the steamer to create a herbal mist. **Do NOT pour essential oils into this steamer or herbal basket. Use of any oil will burn and possibly cause the heating element and or glass container to burst.** 9. When the glass water container runs low on water, the thermostat will shut off the element automatically. However, the machine must be switched to the Off position to prevent burning out the element once the element cools and the thermostat turns the element on again. Operating this steamer unit without water in the glass container will cause the heating element to overheat and break ruining both the element and the thermostat. Over heating such as mentioned can cause damage to the internal parts of the steamer and create costly repairs. Caution: To avoid risk of shock do not drop or immerse unit into water as this can cause the machine to short, damaging the machine and causing possible serious injury to the person(s) in contact with the machine. Keep this machine out of reach of children or where they cannot gain access. The Benefits of warm vapor on the skin s surface are as follow: Softens dead surface cells to that they may be sloughed off during massage or brushing. Aids in opening the follicles so that they can be properly cleaned. The vapor penetrates and softens deposits of grease, blackheads, makeup, & dirt so that they can be removed more easily. The mist helps the pores to eliminate toxins. Increases blood circulation by causing the blood vessels to expand. Action of the vapor improves cell metabolism. Vapor should be done after the skin has been cleansed and analyzed. This should not be done over the skin with cream as it prevents the vapor from penetrating the cream barrier. When preparing to use vapor, the head of the steamer should be turned away from the client until the mist is flowing evenly. If the machine makes a gurgling sound or spurts and spits water out, it is over filled and some water should be drained from the machine. Once the vapor is flowing evenly, the nozzle should be placed about 16 inches from the clients face. Placed to close, the vapor may burn the client.* Footnotes: * See Pages 263-264: Milady s Standard Textbook for Professional Estheticians (Revised Edition) Seventh Edition, by Joel Gerson, 1992, Milady Publishing Company
