2 1.0. General Cautions - Read this manual carefully before operation. - This machine should be operated by trained user. - The built-in safety mechanisms should not be removed or modified. - Do not allow unauthorized persons to repair the machine. 1.1. Safety Warning Label Information - Do not touch electric parts when connected to power source. - Turn off power source and disconnect input power before installing or servicing the equipment. - Turn off the equipment when it s not in use. - Do not use worn and damaged cables. - Use only well maintained equipment. - Do not handle power code with a wet hand. - Keep children away. - Do not open the cover during operation. - Don t put a hand in a working machine. - Do not close the cover with a hand on the chamber area. - Do not operate the machine when a hand is put into the chamber. - Do not heat up the machine without any Castagel in the chamber. - Do not put a big piece of material into the chamber, cut the gel into small pieces. - Do not touch the cover during heating process (95 C). 2.0 Check the package contents: - Gelmelt 8 - Instructions for use manual - Electric diagram - Declaration of conformity - Warranty conditions The following additional accessories can be ordered separately: - Gelknife - Flask table - Gel Cutter for Melting Chamber - Castaflask - Castagel - Thermometer 2.1 Prepare the place where the Gelmelt 8 will stand: - The place should be flat and dust free. - Make sure there is enough space from the back side and the left side.

4 4.0. Description of LED Display at the front of the Geltmelt 8 LED1 LED3 (T1) LED5 (T2) LED2 LED4 LED1 This is called IDLE mode and means that the machine is ready to start the heating mode. By switching on or cancelling the cycle, the machine goes into this step. In this step, 1 Display shows the current temperature. LED2 This is called Heating Mode. The machine can go into this mode by pressing 3 Melting process start/stop button. By pressing 3 Melting process start/stop button, the user can cancel this cycle and the machine goes into IDLE mode again. The machine is heating up to T1 and 1 Display shows the current temperature. LED3 This is called Melting temperature mode. It means that the machine is heated up to T1 and ready to cool down to T2. In this mode, the user can confirm the current temperature. LED4 This is called Cooling Mode. In this mode, the machine is cooling down to T2. LED5 This is called Working mode and the machine is already cooled down to T2 and is keeping the temperature at T2. 1. Do not put anything in the chamber during operation. Don t put a hand in a working machine. 2. Do not close the cover with a hand on the chamber area. 3. Do not use a sharp instrument made of metal. It can cause damage to chamber coating.
5 5.0 Description of the right side of the Gelmelt 8 Identification label 6.0 Description of the back side of the Gelmelt 8 6.1 6.3 6.2 6.1 Adjustable Grip for pouring the remaining gel out of the chamber bottom. Use Adjustable Grip for pouring the remaining gel out of the chamber bottom only for pouring the melted material. 6 7.0. How to Operate 7.1 Switch on - Press Power switch - green colour button located on the left side. - Press Main operation button. 7.2 T1 Melting temperature setting - Check the label of the gel for detailed temperature settings. - Press Temperature setting & melting process, start/stop button for over 2 seconds. - Set Melting temperature by pressing decreasing button or increasing button. - Press Temperature setting& melting process start/stop button to save data. 7.3 T2 Working temperature setting - Check the label of the gel for detailed temperature settings. - Press Temperature setting & melting process, start/stop button again. - Set Melting temperature by pressing decreasing button or increasing button. - Press Temperature setting & melting process start/stop button to save data. 7.4 Checking the temperature T1, T2 - The user can check the temperature T1 by pressing and T2 by pressing then for three seconds, the temperature will be displayed. 7.5 Delay time setting for automatic operation start for next melting process - Press Delay time setting & increasing button for over 2 seconds. - Set Delay time by pressing decreasing button or increasing button from 1 hour to 99 hours. - Press Temperature setting & melting process start/stop button to save data.
7 7.6 To start the melting process with the delay time - Start by pressing Delay time start &stop& decreasing button for over 2 seconds. Then LED1 will be light on and P-r message will be displayed on FND display for 3 seconds. - Stop this process by pressing Delay time start &stop& decreasing button for over 2 seconds. Then P-S Message will be displayed on FND display for 3 seconds. 7.7 Temperature calibration - The temperature of the gel must be checked on a regular basis. - Check the temperature of the gel with a thermometer and compare it to the temperature on the FND display. - Press Main operation button for over 2 seconds. - Control temperature difference by pressing decreasing button or increasing button. - Press Temperature Setting & melting process start/stop button to save data. 7.8 Operation - Press Main operation button. The machine will test itself by self-testing function. - Press Melting process, start/stop button after closing the cover. - When the cover is opened, the machine stops the operation and opn message will be displayed on FND display. - After the machine heats up to T1, the cooling fan will start. - After the machine cools down to T2, an alarm will sound. - By pressing again, the user can stop the operation. 8.0 Error Message 1. Error message Er1 : The temperature probe on the bottom of chamber is the cause of this error, please contact your local vertex maintenance department. 2. Error message Er3 : The motor is the cause of this error, please contact your local vertex maintenance department.
8 3. Error message Er4 : The PC board for heater is the cause of this error, please contact your local vertex maintenance department. 4. Error message Er5 : The temperature sensor for chamber heating element is the cause of this error, please contact your local vertex maintenance department. 5. Error message Er6 : The temperature sensor inside PC board is the cause of this error, please contact your local vertex maintenance department. 6.
