EXCEPTIONAL DESIGN FOR PERFORMANCE AND COST EFFECTIVENESS SeitzSchenk is the global leader in depth filter sheet technology, and we offer the most extensive range of high quality, filter press designs in the market today. Four NIRO filter press models are offered: NIRO 400, 600, 1000 and 1200 to hold 40, 60, 100 and 120 frames. NIRO filter presses are offered with a full range of chassis options to provide as little as 0.3 m 2 up to 550 m 2 effective filter area per press. Closure options include automatic and manual choices. Ports options include DN, TC and sanitary flange. Plates and frames are offered in 304 stainless steel, 316 stainless steel, polypropylene and noryl. In addition to our innovative HFK plate, SeitzSchenk offers crossover plates, crossover frames, T-frames; separation plates; sludge frames and specialized, circulated chamber sludge frames for processing fluids hot or chilled. Niro Filter Presses with HFK plates THE PERFORMANCE ADVANTAGES MORE OPEN FILTER PLATE AREA: HFK is the innovative, high performance plate developed by SeitzSchenk. These plates have three times more open filtration area per square meter than perforated plates and have optimal flow path geometry. HFK plates maximize fluid distribution throughout the press. More open filter plate area translates to better flow distribution; up to twice the product throughput; better utilization of the available filter sheet area; longer on-stream life; and more effective cleaning cycles. Application studies under identical conditions have shown as much as 30% improvement in filter sheet performance due to the use of HFK plates rather than perforated plates. These advantages result in a smaller size NIRO press recommendation than competitive presses for identical applications. LOWER HOLD-UP VOLUME: HFK plates have 30% lower hold-up volume than perforated plates. This means less product loss; shorter rinse cycles; smaller volumes of blended products in pre and post runs; and fewer cleaning agents being used. OPTIMAL EYELET DESIGN: Eyelets for HFK plates are constructed from a single piece that is securely welded into the frame. This is a significant improvement over competitive designs that use two spot welds to join the eyelet to the top of the plate. The HFK weld has no hidden gaps through which contaminant or air could pass into the press. HFK plates have separate product inlet and outlet eyelets at both top and bottom of each plate. This design maximizes flow distribution throughout the available filter area. It also provides good deareation of the filter stack as well as highly effective rinse, regeneration, sterilization and cleaning cycles. NO SCREWS: Perforated plates use screws to secure each screen to the filter plate. Contaminants can become trapped behind the screws and can be difficult to dislodge. Screws can also protrude from the plate and damage filter sheets. HFK plates are constructed from a single piece of stainless steel. No screws are used. HFK plates cannot damage filter sheets and do not need to be dismantled for effective cleaning. These plates do not require dismantling for cleaning, and use smaller volumes of cleaner for the same level of effectiveness.
LIGHTER WEIGHT: HFK plates weigh less than half the weight of a conventional plate. There are many advantages to this: easier handling; lower foundation load; lower shipping costs; less material to clean, rinse and sterilize as well as shorter sterilization cycles. USES LESS SPACE: A NIRO press with HFK plates can achieve better performance than competitive designs with less filter area. Up to a 30% smaller size NIRO press is required to meet the same requirements as a competitive press with perforated plates. A smaller press size results in lower capital investment, smaller production space requirements and lower labor and operation costs. OVERALL SAVINGS: Up to 30% improvement in filter sheet performance No screws to damage filter sheets Up to twice the product throughput 30% lower hold-up volume Uses up to 40% less energy: lower heat loss from smaller filter stack Smaller pre and post runs Shorter, more effective rinsing, cleaning and sterilization cycles Reduced filtration times for same yield Shorter changeout time Lower labor and materials costs The HFK Advantage Conventional Filter Press with perforated plates SeitzSchenk NIRO Press with HFK plates inlet flow at the surface of the filter sheet inlet flow at the surface of the filter sheet filter sheet 40% void volume filter sheet 25% void volume perforated plate open filtration area HFK plate active flow passage area of depth filter sheet dead flow zone inside the depth filter sheet open filtration area 2_3
