BRASBY HORSES GARDE DESIG COMPETITIO As part of Bransby Horses 50th Anniversary celebrations, there is an opportunity for budding garden designers to enter our Garden Design Competition. Brief: You are asked to design a garden which will be situated near the Wishing Well area at the main Visitor Centre, Bransby Horses Rescue and Welfare, L1 2PH. The area of the garden will be 12m x 12m and a total budget for the project will be 2000. This money is entirely for use on materials and plants. Our team of staff and volunteers will help with the construction and planting of the winning garden design. Within your garden design you may wish to: reflect the rescue and welfare work of the charity celebrate 50 years of growth and development at the charity reflect local heritage and community consider plants which thrive in the Lincolnshire climate reflect some characteristics of our rescued equines The judges will be looking for an original and imaginative garden design which will not only be in place during 2018 but which can be replanted/planted up on an annual basis for visitors to enjoy for years to come. Entries can be either hand drawn or presented in a digital format. Entries should be clear regarding choice and colour of plants, hard landscaping and any special features. A detailed costing structure for all plants and materials to be used to create the garden must be included along with your garden design entry. This must have an accompanying list of potential suppliers. Completed entries must be sent through to Garden Design Competition, Bransby Horses, Bransby, Lincoln, L1 2PH no later than noon on Monday 2nd April. Entries can also be emailed through to gardendesign@bransbyhorses.co.uk. The panel of judges, including Adam Frost, will shortlist up to three finalists, each of which will take part in a phone interview. Thereafter a winner will be chosen. The winner will be announced by Monday 16th April 2018.
FULL TERMS AD CODITIOS 1.The Bransby Horses Garden Design Competition is not open to employees of Bransby Horses or professional garden designers/landscape gardeners. This competition is solely aimed at the amateur garden designer. 2. The minimum age for entries is 18 years. 3. The suggested entry fee donation of 10 is optional. 4. The winner of the Bransby Horses Garden Design Competition must be available during the months of May and June 2018 to lead the Bransby Horses team of staff and volunteers on the construction and planting of the garden from start to completion by 26th June 2018. 5. The winner must be available and able to attend on Wednesday 27th June 2018 when the garden will be officially opened by Adam Frost. 6. The winning entrant must comply with all Bransby Horses policies and procedures and in particular health and safety and COSHH during the installation of the garden. Bransby Horses reserve the right to withdraw permission for any aspect of the design to be undertaken should it be deemed inappropriate or dangerous. 7. The entries will be judged by a panel using the following criteria: How well the garden reflects the 50th Anniversary of Bransby Horses Rescue and Welfare How creative and engaging is the design The effective and creative use of planting Clear evidence the garden design can be achieved and completed within budget of 2,000 8. Bransby Horses preference is for no public access onto the garden itself but if public access is required the minimum path width size is 1.5m for a one way path and 2.5m for a two way path. This should be flat and level and be the only permitted public access with appropriate signage and achieved within budget. 9. The existing perpendicular post and rail fence boundaries to the 50th Anniversary garden area should remain in place and any additional fencing to the two remaining sides of the garden area should be a maximum height of 1.2m with entry as required via a clearly signed opening or gate that is wheelchair friendly and achieved within budget.
FULL TERMS AD CODITIOS 10. The design should not include any: Artificial plants, balloons, flags, gnomes, bunting, banners. Commercial signs and/or logos Glass chippings, crushed CDs, waste materials or hazardous items Structures over 2m in height Mirrors or other reflective items Music and/or sound effects Graphics, text or artwork which may cause offense 11. By entering the competition you agree to having your name, photographs and written information on the Bransby Horses website and social media channels, in national and regional publications and on Bransby Horses marketing materials. And you agree that the winning design will belong to Bransby Horses. 12. The winner will be permitted to use photos of the completed garden and their details will be commemorated on a plaque/ to be incorporated into the design of the garden. 13. To enter this competition you must be able to arrange your own transport to and from Bransby Horses and cover the cost of any travelling expenses. 14. The winner will be contacted via phone/email and must respond to Bransby Horses within 7 days. 15. If either the prize is declined or the winner does not respond within a time period of 7 days, a new winner may be drawn at the promoter s discretion. 16. Budget - Please describe how your garden design can be fully brought to life within the allocated budget of 2000. This can be presented as a table itemising the costs and suggested suppliers of all materials including plants, hard landscaping materials and garden features.
