If several machines are installed side by side, they can be linked to each other. Miele washer disinfectors offer versatile installation options designed specifically to meet the needs of hospitals. For example, they can offer an economical solution for the decentralised processing of anaesthetic and minimal invasion surgical instruments or for central processsing of larger quantities of instruments. The single chamber system (which enables each unit to clean, disinfect and dry independently) is particularly versatile and economical. The use of automatic loading systems with the G 7828 can reduce the number of personnel required to operate the machine, especially on the unclean side. The loading module can take up to three loaded baskets and inserts, which are then taken automatically into the washer disinfector. Preparation can then take place during working breaks and after the end of the working day for example. By using the automatic mobile unit recognition system all instrument baskets will be automatically assigned the correct programme. All relevant Miele washer disinfectors are certified as Class 2a medical devices in accordance with the 93/42/EWG directive and operative legislation covering the use of medical devices (EU document MEDDEV 10/93, rule 15), and bear the CE stamp of approval with index 0366. Validation is the recording, documenting and interpretation of the required results in order to prove that a process has conformed to the specified requirements. The results are achieved by using test methods which must be reproducable in a manner relevant to the circumstances and specifications (method validation). This is particularly important for cleaning taking the type of soiling to be removed into consideration. The most important factor for the operation is to decide at which level the cleaning standard of the process should be standardised. The methods of validation in the laboratory and the research into factors which influence cleaning, such as water quality, cleaning agents, temperatures, etc. are all aimed at finding economical, efficient and problem-free working procedures and to optimise them. As it is only possible to standardise machine cleaning, as opposed to manual cleaning, even with ultrasound support, it must be the aim, to make results of machine processes available using validated procedures.
