Heating Controls Home Guardian has been designed to provide heating controls for regular and combi boilers. The heating control module measures the room temperature (TEMP). When the room temperature drops below the set-point, the heating output is switched on (R1 - HEAT). Home Guardian has built-in time clock that enables switching between DAY and NIGHT MODES. Up to 14 switching points are available to provide flexible but simple ways to control to the required temperature. For example, the controller can be easily configured to switch Mon-Fri heating to DAY SETPOINT from 07:00hrs to 10:00hrs and 17:00hrs to 22:00hrs, Saturday 07:00hrs to 13:00hrs and 18:00hrs to 23:hrs, and on Sunday 09:00hrs to 23:00 hrs. Home Guardian has built-in calendar function for switching the heating system to NIGHT MODE for example during the holidays. In addition using a Special Day feature temporary switching times can be assigned to multiple dates. In DAY MODE the Home Guardian controls to a DAY SETPOINT (adjustable, default 21 C) and in the NIGHT MODE to NIGHT SETPOINT (adjustable, default 9 C), offering energy efficient control. When the heating output is on, HEATING REQUEST LED is lit. The DAY set-point can be adjusted from the room sensor by turning the set-point knob clockwise (increases set-point up to 5 C) or counter-clockwise (degreases set-point up to 5 C). Home Guardian has built-in low room temperature monitoring. This feature switches the low room temperature relay (LOW TEMP R6) ON when the temperature drops below the setpoint of 5 C (adjustable). In case of low temperature alarm, an alarm text message is sent to the USER number, HEATING REQUEST LED is flashing and low room temperature relay (LOW TEMP - LT.A) is switched on. Typically LOW TEMP relay is connected to an external electric heater to provide auxiliary heating in case of low temperature. Heating can be switched via mobile phone (text messages or graphical application) permanently to DAY MODE (MAN ON), permanently to NIGHT MODE (MAN OFF) or to Automatic Control (AUTO). The DAY and NIGHT modes can also be overridden ON to a specified time (timer control). In addition, out of time program ON periods e.g. 10:00 to 04:00 an external Heating Advance Switch is provided to override the heating and hot water services permanently ON. Home Guardian Room Sensor with Setpoint Adjustment Pump Mid-Position Valve Figure 1. Home Guardian with Regular Boilers Cooling Controls Home Guardian has been designed to provide cooling controls for direct expansion equipment. The cooling controls module measures the room temperature (TEMP). When the room temperature increases above the set-point, the cooling output is switched on (R3 - COOL). Home Guardian has built-in time clock that enables switching between DAY and NIGHT MODES for cooling. The time clock is shared with the heating control. Please see heating controls for further details. In DAY MODE the Home Guardian controls to a DAY SETPOINT (adjustable, default 22 C) and in the NIGHT MODE to NIGHT SETPOINT (adjustable, default 26 C), offering energy efficient control. When the cooling output is on, COOLING REQUEST LED is lit. The DAY set-point can be adjusted from the room sensor by turning the set-point knob clockwise (increases set-point up to 5 C) or counter-clockwise (degreases set-point up to 5 C). Temperature control can be switched via mobile phone (text messages or graphical application) permanently to DAY MODE (MAN ON), permanently to NIGHT MODE (MAN OFF) or to Automatic Control (AUTO). The DAY and NIGHT modes can also be overridden ON to a specified time (timer control). Enquiries: T: 0870 20 80 100 F: 0870 20 80 200 PS CT2.12 4/8

HWS Control Home Guardian has independent time program for the Hot Water Services. When the time schedule is in ON the HWS relay is energised, and HOT WATER REQUEST LED is lit. Using a built-in calendar function the hot water can be switched OFF, for example, during the holidays. Special Day feature enables temporary hot water ON switching periods on designated dates. Hot water can be switched via mobile phone (text messages or graphical application) permanently ON (MAN ON), permanently OFF (MAN OFF), to Automatic Control (AUTO) or to a timed ON (e.g. for 3 hours). In addition, using an external Hot Water Advance Switch hot water services can be permanently switched ON. Intruder Alarm Intruder alarm feature of Home Guardian monitors the building for unwanted visitors. Home Guardian can be connected to motion detectors (PIR) and/or door/window contacts (PIR input). In the event of alarm, Home Guardian will send an alarm message to the SECURITY and USER numbers, and INTRUDER ALARM LED starts flashing. A bell box connected to the BELL output is activated and optional sounder/siren connected to SOUNDER output are also activated. The Home Guardian built-in sounder follows the SOUNDER output. The intruder alarm feature is activated through the KEYPAD contact, which is linked to the remote intelligent keypad (supplied with two wireless keyfobs). The intruder alarm can be activated remotely from a mobile phone user with secure access code. Once the intruder alarm has been activated, the alarm can be acknowledged either by entering the security code through the keypad, or by sending acknowledgement message from the mobile phone. Acknowledging the alarm silences the alarm outputs (BELL and SOUNDER outputs). If not acknowledged, the sirens remain active for an alarm time period (default for 10 minutes). The intruder alarm has built-in entry (30s default), exit delay (30s default) and alarm time (10min default) settings. Once the intruder alarm has been activated and a motion detector detects movement or door/window contact is opened, the INTRUDER ALARM LED starts flashing for the entry delay time. After the entry delay the intruder alarm is activated. By activating the intruder alarm through the remote keypad, the Home Guardian enters to exit delay mode. In this mode the INTRUDER ALARM LED is off until exit delay has expired. This allows the user sufficient time to exit the property. Panic Alarm Home Guardian has a panic alarm function. When the panic alarm input is opened, the Home Guardian will send an alarm message to the SECURITY and USER numbers, the INTRUDER ALARM LED starts flashing, the built-in sounder and the external bell box are activated. Optional sounders can be connected to the SOUNDER output. Sounder and bell box outputs will switch off after alarm time period has elapsed (5 minutes) and or if the alarm is acknowledged by a text message. Gas Leak Detection Home Guardian can also be used with Gas Detectors to monitor for potential gas leaks. When Home Guardian detects gas (contact SMOKE opens normally closed), the FIRE/GAS ALARM LED is lit, and alarm message is sent to the FIRE and USER numbers. In addition, the SOUNDER output and the builtin sounder is switched on. Fire Alarm Home Guardian has been designed according to BS5839-6 to meet the requirements of Grade E fire alarm system (Grade B available as an upgrade). The smoke detectors within the premises are connected to the HG. In case of fire, the FIRE/GAS ALARM LED starts flashing, and an alarm message is sent to the FIRE and USER numbers. In addition, the internal sounder, smoke alarms (requires interconnect wires) and additional sounders are switched permanently ON until the fire condition does not exist. HG Control Panel has a SILENCE button to silence the smoke alarms and sounders for false alarms. If the silence button is left ON, the Home Guardian beeps every 10 minutes to warn of the silencing of the smoke detectors. Note: To comply with fire regulations the smoke detectors that are used with Home Guardian must have built-in sounder. Enquiries: T: 0870 20 80 100 F: 0870 20 80 200 PS CT2.12 5/8

Water Leak Detection Home Guardian has water leakage detection feature for protecting the building from water damage e.g. from leaking washing machine. When a water leak is detected, an alarm message is sent to USER number, the relay WATER R5 is opened, and WATER LEAK DETECTED LED is lit. WATER relay is connected to a shut off valve to cut the mains water supply in order to minimise the damage. Auxiliary Channel (Sprinkler / Lights Control) Home Guardian has also an auxiliary output (AUX R4) that can be controlled by time program or from mobile phone. This feature can be used, for example, to control garden sprinkler or lights. When AUX relay is switched on, AUXILIARY CHANNEL LED is lit. Time Program can have up to 14 switching points enabling the flexible control of the auxiliary output. Calendar function is provided to switch the output ON during the specified dates and times. The auxiliary output can also be set ON to a timed period from a mobile phone. For example the output can be switched ON for 30 minutes. Power Supply Monitoring Home Guardian has built-in power monitoring circuit. In case of power failure an alarm text message is sent to USER number and the unit is switched to operate on battery. Note: When the unit is operating from battery, it will continue monitoring its inputs for alarm conditions, and sending alarm text messages. The control outputs are disabled to maximise the battery operational time.
