Rotovex ir Handling unit Rotovex SR IQ is a series of efficient ventilation units de - signed for schools, shops and offices, etc. The units are complete with controls and are delivered ready for operation. They are compact in design, have very low energy consumption and have high-efficiency rotating heat exchangers. The compact design Rotovex units are very compact and will fit through door openings with a width of 800 mm. Rotovex units can easily be divided into two parts, each of which is 772 mm wide. It could not be easier! Rotovex units are delivered pre-programmed, tested and ready for installation. onnect the Rotovex unit to the duct system, connect any external components, connect the mains power, set the timer in the automatic con trol sys tem, specify the desir ed air volume and the unit is installed. It could not be easier! Full control over air quality The fans are positioned so that there is always a higher pressure in the supply air section than in the extract air section. This prevents the extract air from being mixed with the fresh supply air and the air quality remains high and stable even if the rotor seals are aged. E fan motors low-noise and low-energy Unlike motors with frequency converters, the E motors operate with high efficiency even at low RPM. This contributes to good energy saving performance. The E motors are also very quiet at both high and low RPM. Easy inspection To facilitate inspection and maintenance, both fans and the rotating heat exchanger are removable. ll power cables have quick release couplings the fans and heat exchanger can be released easily. Temperature control systems Rotovex units have several energysaving, efficient temperature control functions to choose from. Pre-programmed ready to start! Rotovex can be ordered to maintain constant air flow (V) or to maintain constant duct pressure (VV). E Drives High efficiency even at reduced speed 100 80 Efficiency % 60 40 20 E motors 0 0 500 1000 1500 2000 2500 3000 Speed (min -1 ) 2

When the unit is delviered with constant duct pressure (VV) two DSG 500 pressure sensors are enclosed. The unit is pre-programmed to regulate the temperature through cascade connected extract regulation. General Rotovex units are delivered enclosed in plastic and mounted on pallets. The units are fully connected internally. The automatic control system is preset and has been test-run at the factory. ables for external components (supply, extract and outdoor air temperature sensors, outdoor air and exhaust air dampers, cooling, etc) are attached to a connection block on the end of the unit. The same applies to the valve adjustment device for the heating coil. Measurement at Systemair's Development entre Rotovex units are measured and tested at Systemair s Development entre. The air volume is measured in accordance with M 210-99 "Laboratory methods of testing fans for rating". Sound is measured in accordance with M 300-96 "Test ode for Sound Rating". Measurement and control accuracy in the automatic control system The pressure sensor has an accuracy of +/-1% of the measured values. The temperature sensor operates with an accuracy of +/-0.4K. The accuracy of the controlled temperature is the same. Unit housing The unit can be divided into two sections of equal length that are 772 mm wide for all sizes. The total length of each unit is 1544 mm. The sections are bolted together with four bolts for easy division on site and all power cables between the sections have fast action couplings. The unit's housing is made up of frames and panels. The frames are made of aluminium sections, with bevelled cast aluminium corners to avoid sharp edges. Doors and panels are made out off double-skinned 0.9 mm galvanised sheet steel with 50 mm of internal mineral wool insulation. Each unit part stands on two fixed longitudinal sections that raise the unit 100 mm above the floor. The inspection doors, one on each side, are constructed in the same manner as the panels. The front doors have lock - able handles. ll doors have removable hinges. ll unit housings have rectangular duct connections with guide connections. The safety switch is fitted in an easily accessible position on one short side of the unit. It can be locked in the OFF position. The control panel is connected with 10 metres of cable (included). omponents Fans The fans in Rotovex units are directdrive plug fans with E motors. oth impellers have backward-curved blades. The fans have been selected to provide optimal operation in respect of volume, sound level and efficiency. The infinitely variable RPM control is integrated in the unit. The fans are pressure-controlled and the desired air volume is set on the control panel. The fans are easily removable for inspection and servicing. The power cables to the fan have quick release connections allowing easy removal. Heat exchanger The rotating heat exchanger in Rotovex is non-hygroscopic. n infinitely variable speed motor drives the rotor via a belt. The belt is a round elastic, high friction type and an extra spare belt is mounted on the exchanger as standard. The rotor design is optimised with consideration for high efficiency and low-pressure drop. Stabilizing through the shaft makes the rotor stable and reliable even after a long time of use. Up to 80% efficiency at balanced airflow. Heating coil water The hot water coil is located in the same section as the rotating heat exchanger. The coil is mounted for easy connection through the short side of the unit. t the same time, it is designed in such a way that it is easy to access the pipe connections. The material is copper piping with a frame of galvanised sheet steel and aluminium fins. The coil has a venting nipple and frost guard. When there is a risk of freezing in the hot water coil, the control valve is forced open to prevent freezing. If there is still a risk of freezing, the unit is stopped and the outdoor air damper is closed. Heating coil electric The electric heating coil is located in the same section as the rotating heat exchanger. It has a frame of galvanised sheet steel and elements of stainless steel. The electric heating coil is removable for inspection and service. ll power cables have fast - action couplings. When the unit is switched off, either through using the built-in overheat protection in the air heater, the built-in clock or hand/auto switch, the electrical heater is immedi - ately stopped while the fans are kept running under a pre-set time for cool - ing down the heater. fter a overheat 3

situation, the unit will re-start when the alarm has been ack nowledged and the overheat protection has returned to its normal state. If the man - ual protection is triggered, the electric heating coil must be removed for inspection and resetting. The heating coils are available in: Rotovex SR07 IQ: 3 alt. 12 kw. Rotovex SR09 IQ: 4,5 alt. 15 kw. Rotovex SR11 IQ: 6, 12 or 24 kw. Electric heater (above 6 KW) has separate incoming power supply. The power demand of the electric heating coil is controlled by a triac power regulator (Pulser) according to the desired supply air temperature, which is set on the control panel. Filters Rotovex units have disposable "Minipleats" in cassettes on the supply air Minipleates on supply air agfilter on extract air side and bag filters on the extract air side. oth filters are fitted before the rotating heat exchanger. Rotovex units are supplied as standard with filters of class EU7/F7 on the supply air side and EU5/F5 on the extract air side. The filter cassettes are mounted in guide rails that facilitate insertion and removal for inspection and service. The guide rails are spring mounted and fitted with sealing strips to provide optimal sealing against the filter cassette. ag filters, class EU3/F3 are available as extract filters and "Minipleats", class EU5/F5 are available as supply filters (both are accessories). Differential pressure switches mounted across the supply- and exhaust air filter gives an alarm when the pressure drop across the filter exceeds a pre-set value and the filter should be changed. Duct connection Rotovex units have rectangular flanged connections. Rotor operation The rotor motor is of the switched reluctance type and can work with a high torque throughout the RPM range. This permits low RPMs, which means that the heat exchanger works optimally at all times. The rotor belt manufactured from high friction plastic. spare belt is mounted on the rotor wheel on delivery. rotor guard triggers an alarm if a fault occurs in the motor, rotor or belt. ontrols Rotovex units are delivered complete with controls, including 10 metres of cable which is the maximum allowed cable length. The controls panel is menu controlled and easy to use and the panel has indicators for operation and alarm. Display The illuminated display has 4 rows of 20 characters each, and 17 different languages are available. The background illumination is normally switched off, and is activated by pushing one of the buttons. The illumination is then switched off again after a period of inactivity. LEDs The alarm LED is marked with a symbol. The "write enable" LED is marked with a symbol. Push-uttons ll functions can be set (configured) by using the information in the display and the push-buttons on the controller. Log in The menu system works with two different user levels, depending on if the information should be displayed or changed. In the first level it is only possible to read parameters and settings. In the second level, it is also possible to change the settings in the controller. Timer settings The controller has a week-based timer function, which means that the operation of the unit can be set individually for each weekday. The clock has an automatic summer/winter-time change over. Running periods Each day has two separate running periods. For each period, the airflow can be set to normal, reduced or fan stopped. Start-up of the unit is always done with reduced speed. fter a preset time, the speed is switched over to normal, if normal operation is programmed. Manual control (hand/auto position) The unit can be controlled manually (switched off, reduced speed or normal speed), this overrides the weekbased timer function. ll the outputs can be manually controlled e.g. heater and heat recovery out-puts can be set between 0 and 100%. Manual control is a very useful function when commissioning the unit. larms When an alarm is activated, the LED starts flashing. The LED flashes as long as there are any alarms that have not been acknowledged. The LED emits a steady light, if there are alarms that have been acknowledged, but are still active. The alarm list shows type of alarm, date and time when the alarm occurred. 4

The units have an outgoing common alarm signal available at terminals (24 V, 0.5 ). ontrol on demand Rotovex have the possibility to control the airflow on demand to carbon dioxide (O 2 ). The O 2 -sensor is easily connected to connection block. The output signal from the sensor can either be an analogue (0 10V D) or a digital (1/10) signal. When using an analogue signal the airflow is controlled linear between two O 2 (ppm) setpoints. When using a digital signal the unit switch from reduced to normal airflow at the O 2 (ppm) setpoint. The O 2 -sensors are accessories. ommunication Rotovex SR IQ E-tool Std* Exoline via RS 485 Std Modbus via RS 485 Std LON _** Exoline via TP/IP*** _** * The accessory E-Tool cable must be used. The cable is used for communication between the orrigo controller inside the unit and the laptop. E-Tool software downloads from www.regin.se. ** To be selected when ordering the product. *** When connecting the unit to the MS (uilding Management System) the Regin EXOdesigner software must be used. For more information contact your nearest Regin dealer. Systemair offers stand alone ir handling units with the possibility to communicate via Exoline, Modbus or LON. Systemair do not offer the external MS- building manage system or the commissioning of that kind of system. dditional functions are simply connected to the connection block Rotovex units have a connection block on each unit end. dditional functions are connected to these blocks. This makes it easier for the installer and minimises the risk of incorrect connection in the unit's control panel. Description of functions, Systemair SP Temperature controlling Rotovex units are pre-configured for extract air control but can be configured for the following temperature controllings: Supply air temperature control Extract air temperature control (cascade) Room air temperature control (cascade, accessory room air temperature sensor TG-R5/PT1000 necessary). Outdoor temperature dependent supply air control. Outdoor temperature controlled changeover (between supply- and room/extract air control). This function can be used to be able to use supply air control at wintertime, and to use room- or extract air temperature control at summer time together with air-cooling. ooling water valve actuator, controlling a cold-water battery, can be connected to the unit and operated in sequence to the heater battery. The unit is also prepared for connection DX cooler and operate it in single, double or triple-stage (binary). ll the external connections are done to connection blocks at the gable of the unit. old recovery If the extract air temperature is a settable amount lower than the outdoor temperature, cooling recovery can be activated. When cooling recovery is activated the heat exchanger signal will be reversed to give increasing recovery on increasing cooling demand. Width = 115 mm, Height = 94 mm, Depth = 26 mm Free cooling (accessory of the type TG-UH/PT1000, wall-mounted outdoor sensor and TG-R5/PT1000, room temperature sensor, necessary). Free cooling is used during the summer to cool the building nighttime using cool outdoor air, thereby reducing the need for cooling during the day and saving energy. Free cooling is started at 12.00 p.m. if all timer channels are OFF and the daytime outdoor temperature has been higher than a settable value (22 ). The fans are started and run for at least 3 minutes. Stop conditions: Free cooling stops at 06.00 a.m. or if the outdoor temperature rises above a settable value (+15 ) or if the outdoor temperature falls below a settable value (+5, condensation risk) or if the room temperature falls below a settable value (+18 ). When free cooling is active the fans run at normal speed but the outputs Y1- Heating, Y2- Heat exchanger and Y3-ooling are shut down. Fire alarm When there is a fire alarm, the unit can be configured either for stopping or for running. Extended or forced running using an external signal The units have a potential free digital input at a terminal for extended or forced running using an external signal, e.g. an external timer, movement detector, O 2 -sensor or similar sensor with a voltage free contact. 5

E-Tool E-Tool is a P-based commissioning software with a graphical userinterface. Download for free at www.regin.se When using E-Tool together with the unit it is possible to download and store configurations, view the In/Outputs in real-time and also updating the software program. (ccessory of the type E-Tool cable, ET, is necessary). E-Tool simplifies the: ommissioning: Set the configuration (irflow, temperature, control mode, week schedule etc.) at your office and go to the unit to down load it. Troubleshooting: onnect the E- Tool to the unit and have a good overview on all of the menus e.g. read all the in and output values (temperature sensors, control signals, alarm inputs etc) at the same time. It is also possible to run realtime diagrams, store them on the computer and maybe analyse them later at the office. E-Tool is available in English and Swedish. ccessories SR07 IQ EL/HW SR09 IQ EL/HW SR11 IQ EL/HW E-Tool cable ET ET ET Shut-off damper EFD 60-30 EFD 60-40 EFD 80-40 Valve actuator for HW QM QM QM Valve, 3-way STR15-2.1 STR15-2.1 STR15-2.7 Outdoor set ODS ODS ODS ooler, cold water* PGK PGK PGK Silencer, supply/exhaust/extract/outdoor * LDR LDR LDR Timer T 120 T 120 T 120 Room temperature sensor TG-R5/PT1000 TG-R5/PT1000 TG-R5/PT1000 Outdoor sensor, wall mount TG-UH/PT1000 TG-UH/PT1000 TG-UH/PT1000 Duct sensor/exhaust air sensor, duct mounted TG-KH/PT1000 TG-KH/PT1000 TG-KH/PT1000 Filter EU3, Extract air, bag filter FRO SR07 EU3 FRO SR09 EU3 FRO SR11 EU3 Filter EU5, Extract air, bag filter FRO SR07 EU5 FRO SR09 EU5 FRO SR11 EU5 Filter EU5, Supply air, cassette filter MPRO SR07 EU5 MPRO SR09 EU5 MPRO SR11 EU5 Filter EU7, Supply air, cassette filter MPRO SR07 EU7 MPRO SR09 EU7 MPRO SR11 EU7 U-tube manometer, filter guard MFRO MFRO MFRO O2 Room sensor (digital 1/0) O2RT-DR O2RT-DR O2RT-DR O2 Room sensor (analog 0...10V D) O2RT O2RT O2RT * See the catalogue Ventilation products EIII Quick selection matrix, accessories Function Necessary accessory Designation Shut-off dampers* 1 to exhaust air and 1 to fresh air EFD ontrol of water coil** Valve and actuator QM and STR Room air control Room sensor TG-R5/PT1000 Free cooling Outdoor sensor, wall mounted and room temp. sensor TG-UH/PT1000 and TGR5/PT1000 * Recommended, ** Recommended for HW (Hot Water units) 6
