Harmful if swallowed. Moderately irritating to eyes and skin. Store unused ARMOUR in its original container in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place, away from food, feeds, seed, fertilizers and other agricultural remedies. Store under lock and key and keep out of reach of children, uninformed people and animals. Re-entry: Do not enter treated area until spray deposit has dried unless wearing protective clothing. In case of poisoning immediately call a physician and make this label available to him/her. Although this remedy has been extensively tested under a large variety of conditions, the registration holder does not warrant that it will be efficacious under all conditions, because the action and effect thereof may be affected by factors such as abnormal soil, climatic and storage conditions, quality of dilution water, compatibility with other substances not indicated on the label and the occurrence of resistance of the weeds to the remedy concerned, as well as by the method, time and accuracy of application. The registration holder further does not accept responsibility for damage to crops, vegetation, the environment or harm to man or animal or for lack of performance of the remedy concerned, due to failure of the user to follow the label instructions or to the occurrence of conditions, which could not have been foreseen in terms of the registration. Consult the supplier in event of any uncertainty. PRECAUTIONS Do not inhale fumes or spray mist. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Wear rubber gloves and face shield when handling the product. Wash with soap and water after use and accidental skin contact. Do not eat, drink or smoke while mixing and applying, or before washing hands and face or change of clothing. Wash contaminated clothing after use. Prevent contamination of food, feed stuffs, drinking water and eating utensils. Avoid drift or spray onto other crops, grazing, rivers, dams or areas not under treatment or to nearby water sources. Clean applicator after use and dispose of wash water where it will not contaminate crops, food, grazing, rivers, dams and boreholes. Containers and packages must be completely emptied before being disposed of. TRIPLE RINSE empty containers in the following manner: Invert the empty container over the spray or mixing tank and allow draining for at least 30 seconds after the flow has slowed down to a drip. Thereafter rinse the container three times with a volume of water equal to a Armour/February2014 2
minimum of 10 % of that of the container. Add the rinsing to the contents of the spray tank before destroying the container in the prescribed manner. Do not re-use the container for any other purpose. Product and container disposal: - Dispose of surplus product in an incinerator or on a landfill site approved for pesticides. - Do not bury in, or spray on to any area under agricultural use. - Dispose of containers (plastic, cardboard or paper) on a landfill site approved for pesticides or burn in a safe place where there is no risk of contamination by smoke and fumes. SYMPTOMS OF HUMAN POISONING No signs and symptoms are known or expected in humans. FIRST AID TREATMENT In case poisoning is suspected: Remove the affected person from the area of contamination to a well ventilated room or to fresh air, and keep him/her warm and at rest. Keep the airway clear to maintain respiration, particularly when the patient is unconscious or has vomited. The mouth and pharynx should be cleared and dentures removed. Treat respiratory difficulty with artificial mouth-to-nose respiration. Administration of oxygen and lavage must be performed by qualified medical personnel. Emergency personnel should wear gloves and avoid contamination. Skin contact: Remove contaminated clothing, shoes and leather goods immediately. Gently wipe of excess chemical. Wash skin gently and thoroughly with water and soap. Do not rub the skin. Seek medical advice if necessary. Eye contact: In case of contact with eyes, immediately flush the eyes with clean, gently flowing lukewarm water for at least 20 minutes, holding the eyelid(s) open. Seek medical attention immediately. Inhalation: Maintain airway and administer oxygen if necessary. Treat symptomatically and supportively. Seek medical advice immediately. Ingestion: Have victim rinse mouth thoroughly with water. Do not induce vomiting. If the person is alert and respiration is not depressed, administer large quantities of water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Treat respiratory difficulty with artificial respiration and oxygen. Treat symptomatically and supportively. ADVICE TO PHYSICIAN No antidote available. Treat symptomatically and supportively. In cases of ingestion of large amounts, gastric lavage may be indicated. RESISTANCE WARNING ARMOUR is a group code B herbicide. Any weed population may contain individuals naturally resistant to ARMOUR and other group code B herbicides. The resistant individuals can eventually dominate the weed population if these herbicides are used repeatedly. These resistant weeds may not be controlled by ARMOUR or any other group code B herbicide. To delay herbicide resistance: Avoid exclusive repeated use of herbicides from the same herbicide group code. Alternate or tank mix with products from different herbicide group codes, Integrate other control methods (chemical, cultural, biological) into weed control programmes. For specific information on resistance management contact the registration holder of this product. USE RESTRICTIONS Do not apply products containing the active ingredient Flumetsulam (e.g. ARMOUR) Armour/February2014 3
in soybeans, if maize has been treated with Mesotrione-containing products such as GALAGO, during the previous season on the same field. ARMOUR may be applied as a tank mixture in combination with TOLLA 840 S or TOLLA 960. Under the following conditions this tank mixture may cause damage to crops to which it is applied: - When used on crops in combination with organophosphate insecticides. This refers to where an organophosphate insecticide has been applied to the soil at planting or where the crop seed is treated with an organophosphate insecticide. Do not use ARMOUR under such circumstances. - Poorly drained soils or soils with a compaction layer. - Soils with a ph (H 2 O) of 7 or more. - Under conditions of heavy rain and/or irrigation on sandy or gravel soils. - Cold and wet conditions. - Experimental or newly released cultivars. Consult the distributor or seed supplier in this regard. ARMOUR in a mixture with TOLLA 960 must be applied prior to crop emergence for groundnuts, dry beans and soybeans. ARMOUR in a mixture with TOLLA 840 S must be applied prior to crop emergence for maize. When applying as a tank mixture with other herbicides, adhere fully to the WARNINGS, PRECAUTIONS, USE RESTRICTIONS and DIRECTIONS FOR USE on the labels of the herbicides concerned. Do not apply ARMOUR mixtures to sweet corn, seed maize, popcorn or other exotic maize type cultivars. Follow-up crops, pre-plant interval: The minimum pre-plant interval is the time between the last application of ARMOUR in combination with the mentioned products listed and the anticipated date of planting a subsequent crop. To avoid injury to subsequent crops the following re-cropping intervals should be taken into consideration: Groundnuts, dry beans, soybeans and maize nil. Grain sorghum, potatoes and wheat 3 months. Sunflowers 5 months. For all other crops a replanting interval of at least 24 months has to be observed, preceded by a test planting. NOTE The pre-plant waiting periods mentioned above are only valid if the prescribed dosage rate of ARMOUR, in combination with other herbicides and with regard to the soil type, was applied on a soil ph (H 2 O) of less than 7, and normal or above average rainfall was recorded during and following the season in which the application was performed. The above-mentioned waiting periods are valid only if the ARMOUR and/or complementary herbicide(s) were applied to the crop with a single application as directed on this label. DIRECTIONS FOR USE: Use only as indicated. Compatibility: The compatibility of ARMOUR in combination with other products may be influenced by the formulation of the products involved, as well as the quality of the water. Since the formulation of other products may change without the knowledge of the registration holder and water quality varies from area to area, a physical compatibility test should always be carried out prior to application. Do not mix ARMOUR with organophosphate insecticides or use it in combination with organophosphate insecticides (Refer to USE RESTRICTIONS ). When ARMOUR is used in conjunction with any other agricultural remedy, adhere to all WARNINGS, PRECAUTIONS and DIRECTIONS FOR USE mentioned on that label. Mixing instructions: Replace cap after use. Half fill the spray tank with clean water. Add the required amount of ARMOUR to a bucket of clean water and pre-mix before adding it to the tank while agitating. Add the required amount of complimentary product(s) to the tank. Fill the spray tank with water to the required level. Ensure thorough agitation of the mixture in the tank during mixing and spraying. Prepared tank mixtures must be sprayed out immediately and not allowed to stand in the spray tank. Application instructions: 1. Pre-emergence application: When planting into moist soil, the ARMOUR mixture with TOLLA 840 S (maize) or TOLLA 960 (groundnuts, dry beans and soybeans) must be applied within three days after planting (preferably at planting) on a fine, even, firm and freshly prepared seedbed, free of weeds. The herbicide mixture should not be applied more than three days after the final cultivation for seedbed preparation. To obtain good efficacy it is necessary for the application to be followed by rain or irrigation, before emergence of the weeds. If rainfall does not occur in time and weeds begin to emerge and develop, a shallow cultivation must be performed to destroy these weeds, and mix the herbicide with the top 10 to 20 mm of soil. 2. Ground application: ARMOUR may be applied with any medium or high volume sprayer which is correctly calibrated and which is equipped with an efficient agitation mechanism. Choice and arrangement of fan type spray nozzles should be such as to ensure even distribution and optimal recovery of the product. The recommended amount of ARMOUR should be applied in at least 200 litres water per hectare. Application Rates: 1. More rain is required on heavy soils. When planting into dry soil (insufficient moisture for C. esculentus germination) application should be timed as close as possible to, but definitely before the rains. Control of the above mentioned weeds may be detrimentally affected by the following conditions: A poorly prepared seedbed. Soils with a ph (H 2 O) of less than 5 and/or an organic matter content of more than 3%. Dry conditions directly after application or insufficient rain on heavy soils.
