System 2000 Order no.: 1300 xx 1301 xx Function The System 2000 automatic switch attachment Standard responds to movements of heat sources and triggers a switching action. The light remains on as long as the automatic switch detects movements. If no movements are detected anymore, the detector switches off after the fixed OFF-delay of ca. 2 minutes has elapsed. The automatic switch attachment Standard can only be used for switching applications and is used in combination with a switching insert. Dimming inserts can also be used as switching inserts. The range of detection can be enlarged with extension inserts for presence detector. In line with the modularity principle, It is possible to combine attachments and inserts for indoor and outdoor applications (IP 44) with one another (applications in damp interiors). Safety Attention: Electrical equipment must be installed and fitted by qualified electricians only. Depending on the type of switching or dimming insert used, the device is not suitable for safe disconnection of the mains. Switching off the device does not isolate the load electrically from the mains. To prevent electric shocks the device must be disconnected from the mains (by cutting out the circuit breaker) before undertaking any work on the System 2000 automatic switch attachment Standard or the System 2000 switching insert or before replacing the lamp. Non-observance of the fitting may cause fire or other hazards. Place of installation fig. 1: Avoid sources of heat such as lamps or heatings inside the range of detection to prevent uncontrolled switching. Best detection results are achieved when the detector is installed perpendicular to the direction of walking. The detector s reach depends on the height of installation (fig. 4 (A)). Choose the place of installation so that the lens is not exposed to direct sunlight. Do not place the automatic switch attachment during the fitting into direct sunlight. The sensor might otherwise be damaged (fig. 1). fig. 4: 2/05 Page 1 of 5

On account of the basically horizontal position of the upper detection level (fig. 2 (A)), automatic switches equipped with the 1.10 m lens can generally be used for indoor applications only. fig. 2: Among the range of automatic switches equipped with the 2.20 m lens, the water-protected types (IP44) are approved for outdoor use. Fitting Install the insert (1) in a box corresponding to DIN 49073 (fig. 3). fig. 5: To prevent malfunctions, the connecting terminals of the insert must be at the bottom. The automatic switch attachment Standard (3) is plugged onto the insert together with frame (2). The electrical connection is described in the operating of the corresponding insert. fig. 3: Setting of the brightness threshold Brightness limit below which detected movements cause the automatic switch to trigger a switching action. The brightness threshold can be adjusted with the potentiometer (fig. 6, (1)) at the rear of the attachment to cover a range between 0 and 80 lux. Brightness-independent switching (daylight operation) is achieved with the potentiometer in the Sun position. fig. 6: Use of the snap-fit mask The mask supplied with the automatic switch can be used to restrict the field of detection (fig. 5). The mask covers 90 of the detection field. Cutting the mask down to smaller angles causes malfunctions. Detection field with mask (A) in place see fig. 5. (1) supervised area (2) masked area 2/05 Page 2 of 5

i If the automatic switch attachment Standard does not respond to detected movements with the potentiometer in the Moon position (nighttime operation), the potentiometer must be turned back a bit in the direction of the Sun position. Adjusting the sensitivity The sensitivity of the device can be continuously adjusted with potentiometer ((2) fig. 6) at the rear of the attachment. With this potentiometer, the automatic switch attachment Standard can be made less sensitive to undesired influences. Withdrawing the automatic switch from the insert The switching state of the insert is maintained. When plugged in again, the automatic switch attachment Standard reacts in the same way as after a mains failure of longer than approx. 1 second (see reaction in the event of mains failure / return of the mains). Reaction in the event of power failure/return of power shorter than 200 ms no change of switching state. 200 ms until on return of supply, the autoapprox. 1 s matic switch switches for the OFF-delay (retriggering) longer than 60 s, on return of supply, the autoapprox. 1 s matic switch performs a 60- second selftest; during the selftest the lighting is on. Thereafter the lighting is switched off and the detector is ready for operation. Wiring (1) = Central unit e.g. switching insert fig. 7: (2) = Extension insert (manual operation from several different places) (3) = Extension insert for presence detector (enlargement of detection range) (4) = conventional pushbutton (manual operation from several different places) N 1 L (1) 1 L (2) (5) = to other extension units It is not permitted to connect central units with the automatic switch attachment Standard in parallel. The automatic switch attachment Standard (1) cannot be operated on the System 2000 extension insert (2). N 1 L (3) (4) L N (5) 2/05 Page 3 of 5

Enlargement of the detection range The detection range of a central unit can be enlarged with a extension insert for presence detector (3) in conjunction with a automatic switch attachment or a presence detector attachment. Extension insert for presence detector transmit movement signals independent of brightness to the central unit. Brightness values and OFF-delay are controlled by the central unit. Operation of extension units Control from an extension unit is possible only if the attachment on the main unit is in place. Extension inserts (2) used in conjunction with the attachment for switching and dimming or a conventional pushbutton (4) can be used to switch on and to retrigger the lighting independent of brightness. The lighting can, however, not be switched off from this combination. Illuminated mechanical pushbuttons must have a separate N terminal. i No distinction is made between a long and a short press of the button. Technical data Angle of detection: approx. 180 Height of installation: 1.10 m / 2,.20 m Detection field of the 1.10 m lens: approx. 10 m x 12 m Lenses / levels of the 1.10 m lens: 18 / 2 Detection field of the 2.20 m lens: approx. 12 m x 12 m Lenses / levels of the 2.20 m lens: 26 / 3 Rated voltage: see insert operating Brightness threshold: approx. 0 lux... 80 lux and daylight operation Sensitivity: approx. 20 %... 100 % Switching capacity: see insert operating Number of extension units connected to insert: extension insert, pushbutton: unlimited extension insert for presence detector: see extension unit operating Total length of cable to extension unit: max. 100 m Operating temperature: approx. -20 C... +45 C OFF-delay fixed: Locking time after shutoff: approx. 2 minutes approx. 3 seconds. 2/05 Page 4 of 5
