1. 4. 5. Microwave Leak Test Turn ON for 5-minute test. Hold the probe perpendicular to the surface being tested. Scan surfaces at the rate of one inch per second. Test the following areas: Entire perimeter of the door and control panel Viewing surface of the door window Exhaust vents 6. Maximum leakage is 4 MW/CM 2. Note: Place 275 ml water in 600 ml beaker. (Part # WB64 x 5010) Place beaker in the center of the oven glass. Set meter to 2450 MHz scale. Maximum allowable leakage is 5 MW/CM 2. Four MW/CM 2 is used to allow for measurement and meter accuracy. Inform the manufacturer of any oven found to have emission in excess of 5 MW/CM 2. Instruct the owner not to use the oven until it has been brought into compliance. Control Operation Test Set Clock: Touch the clock pad, enter time of day, AM/PM, and touch start pad. Alternately touch each function pad and enter time or temperature and selection for the function - also change power levels. Touch Clear-Off after each function test to clear that function. Repeat procedure for each function to exercise each pad. The control and display should respond to each entry. The display should revert to Time-Of-Day after each Clear-Off. Refer results to the diagnosis flow chart. Door/Cavity Distance Test When safety interlocks and monitor switches are repaired or replaced, check the distance between the door and the cavity of the oven. 1. Use a piece of paper 0.02 in. thick, 1 in. wide, and 4 in. long (a dollar bill folded in half twice lengthwise is about this size). Open the oven door and place the paper between the door and the front frame of the oven cavity. Performance Test The standard test load is 1 liter (1000 ml) of water with an initial temperature of 59 F ~ 75 F in a 1000 ml beaker (WB64 X 73 or Robonar 14882). Performance Test for Microwave: 4. Close the oven door to capture the paper between the door and the cavity front frame. Draw the paper from between the door and the cavity (check at the bottom and sides of the door too). If there is resistance to the removal of the paper, then the distance is correct. 1. Record initial water temperature. Run at high power for 2:03 minutes. Note: Because the time can only be set in 15- second increments on this model, set the time for 2:15 and end the test when the display reaches 0:1 Record end water temperature. The minimum difference between the initial and ending temperatures should be: 30 F @ 120V. 29

Interlocks (Door Latch Switches) The interlocks are designed as follows: Secondary - The top switch is operated by the top latch pawl connected to the line (L) leg. Latch Pawl Latch Pawl To test the interlocks: 1. Latch Board power to the oven. Open the control panel. Primary Interlock Switch(Top) Monitor Interlock Switch(Middle) Door Sensing Switch(Botton) 5. Reconnect the switch wiring. 6. Test the circuit operation: a. Connect a temporary jumper across the relay contacts and the primary switch to simulate shorted switch contacts. Locate convenient connections in the circuit to be certain the COM and N.O. terminals are used. b. Connect an ohmmeter (Low Scale) across the two line terminals of the appliance power cord. Continuity must show: Door Closed - Some Ω Door Open - 0 Ω c. Remove the 20-Amp. fuse - the circuit must open ( Ω). If not, check the wiring of the monitor and interlock circuits. 7. After the test, remove the temporary jumpers and reconnect the monitor switch leads. Discharge the capacitor. 4. Primary - check continuity of COM and N.O.: Door Closed - 0 Ω Door Open - Ω Monitor Switch The monitor switch is located between the top and bottom interlocks. The monitor switch is operated indirectly by the bottom latch pawl. To test the interlock system: 1. 4. power to the oven. Open the control panel. Discharge the capacitor. the monitor switch leads and test at the terminals: Door Closed - Ω Door Open - 0 Ω TOP SW. BKT.ADJ. BOTTOM SW. BKT.ADJ. To adjust the interlocks: PRIMARY MONITOR SW DOOR SENSING SW The switch housing is adjustable for door fit and switch operation. 1. 4. 5. power to the oven. Open the control panel. Discharge the capacitor. Loosen the 2 Phillips-head screws that attach the door switch bracket to the oven frame. Adjust the switch bracket for proper switch operation and door fit. Retighten screws. 6. Check for microwave leakage after any adjustment and distance between the door and cavity of the microwave. 30
