The fi rst event took place in the regional park Abbazia di Monteveglio in Italy during the second week of October. The park is situated between three towns (Bazzano, Zola Predosa and Montevegloi), whose representatives actively participated in the creation of the program for the entire week. Most activities took place in the Informational and Educational Centre in Monteveglio and were led by the staff of the Educational Center. The main theme of the meeting was the use of the natural park for the environmental education and for interactive games and activities with disabled people. 1st day - Monday 11th of October The program started on Monday afternoon. After the meeting and introduction of all the participants, the presentations took place. Five towns and one regional park were introduced to all the participants. As the representatives of the municipality Velka Hledsebe in the Czech republic, we presented the municipality as a place with huge potential, situated very close to the natural protected area and also place with abondoned military area and barracks. The topic revitalization a regeneration of brownfi elds will be the main topic for the meeting in Czech republic in Mai, 2012. After the dinner where more details were discussed, there was a meeting with represenatatives from municipalities of Zola Predosa, Bazzano and Monteveglio. 2nd day - Tuesday 25th of October On Thuesday, we spend most of the sunny morning walking throught the natural park. We discussed the biggest problems of the site the water erosion, the biodiversity, the zoning of the park, problems with maintaining the paths and many more. We enjoyd the pleasant views over the vineyards and some autumn fl owers as cyclamen.

In the early afternoon we descended to the small private winery and had the great opportunity to meet with the local winemaker and taste some of very young wines and talk about the bio products and wine making in this area. Then there were cars waiting for us and a took us to the Villa Edvige Garangani in Zola Predosa, where we had great lunch. All the food has been made from local products, it was simple, but very tasty and great to evoke the genius loci of the place. After the lunch there was a lecture about the evolution of the Italian villa and connection with the landscape, the use of it in these days, about the specifi cs of shaped vegetation and close surrounding of the villa. Altought it was very specifi c for the Italy and the specifi c area, the aproche of this theme was very interesting and applicable in similar areas around the Europe. Then we had the opportunity to visit the exhibition with old technical drawings of the types of italien villas. 3rd day - Wednesday - 13th of October On Wednesday morning we had the chance to be part of the environmental education program for the 8-9 years old kids. All the kids were very actively involved in different kinds of activities watching and drawing different parts of plants, simulation of water erosion and sedimentation ect. Everybody was extremely excited about it and in the end the kids gave us some drawings of the plants. The environmental education is very discussed topic in these days and it was a great inspiration to watch how it can be arranged.

4th day - Thursday - 14th of October The Thursday programme was devoted to work and communication with disabled people. Great emphasis was placed on their natural integration into the society and on changing our attitude to their disability. Their disability should not be viewed as a restriction but rather as a different ability of its own kind. The problem was compared to the biodiversity in nature, where it is important. It is necessary to have the same approach to human diversity. The activities took place in the garden at the information centre, which has been adapted to the needs of these people. Children from local primary school participated in all activities. I think that in the Czech Republic the approach to the people with different abilities and natural communication and cooperation with them are still a big problem. Despite all the efforts, the barriers still exists. One way to peer contact is the natural integration of disabled children and adults in school lessons, playing common games, competitions, common experience, preferably in a natural environment. It would be a great step forward, if in the coming years, the municipality will manage to create conditions to break these barriers. 5th day - Thursday - 15th of October On Friday morning there was the presentation of the project Gardens, People, Culture, World. The focus point of the project was meeting of different kinds of people in parks and green areas. We watched a short movie which presented the results of the project and discussed the topics the people were discussing in the movie. In the afternoon we visited the old part of Monteveglio and the castle in Bazzano, where the the project Cittaslow was presented. 6th day - Saturday - 16th of October In the morning we all gathered for the last meeting. We were discussing the entire week, making conclusions and planning the future of PARPE.
