PARADIGM Tribute and Inspiration - a 30th Anniversary Limited Edition speaker that goes against the grain of Limited Edition products. Why? They ARE truly fabulous. More to the point, they are everything that is PARADIGM. Excellent performance for a very reasonable price. That defines PARADIGM. And with the 30th Anniversary series, PARADIGM over-delivers. The bad news - there are only 200 pairs world-wide, with only 15 pair on display in the United States. The good news - we are fortunate to have a pair on display. Art DeLorenzo talks about where the PARADIGM TRIBUTE and INSPIRATION excel. Stop in and listen, you won t be disappointed! Stop in and say Hi... You re always welcome here! A milestone anniversary is a unique opportunity to pause and reflect on a remarkable journey. From their modest beginnings in Toronto, Canada, PARADIGM speakers are now sold on six continents. The PARADIGM Reference 30th Anniversary Series is meant to commemorate and celebrate their journey. The Tribute is a design and technology composite of what PARADIGM has learned over the last thirty years. By all measures, they were great students. You might think it s a Signature S6 with a fancy finish. And you d be mistaken. Yes, it is obviously based on the S6, but it is also obvious that there are far more differences than just cosmetics.
The new Tribute, as well as the bookshelf-type Inspiration, contains PARADIGM s latest-generation driver technology. PARADIGM has used some different driver technologies and changed the crossovers. PARADIGM designs, engineers and manufactures drive units with ideal response characteristics. This allows for minimal crossover networks. While this simple approach requires greater R&D time, it always produces speakers with superior sonic performance. The Anniversary Series crossovers are highly refined phase-coherent quasi-butterworth designs, using only hand-selected close-tolerance components including: + Polypropylene capacitors + Precision high-power ceramic resistors + Air-core silicon steel-core inductors PARADIGM Tribute Limited production of 200 pairs worldwide. $5,999.98 pair The result is wider bandwidth, higher power handing, and lower distortion. Translated: they sound ridiculously good.
PARADIGM Inspiration Available in garnet red. Limited production of 300 pairs worldwide. $2,599.98 pair As should be fitting for the country where PARADIGM was born, the entire speaker, including cabinet and drivers, is made in PARADIGM s Mississauga, Canada-based factory. Here s the Tribute s only liability: it s a limited-edition design that celebrates PARADIGM s more than 30 years of being in business, only 200 pairs of the Tribute are being made. Ever.
PERSONAL PERSPECTIVE PARADIGM Tribute: Art DeLorenzo, Genesis Audio Ltd. PARADIGM and I go back twenty-five years. It happened in 1987, when I first heard the PARADIGM Titan. That speaker motivated me to sign the PARADIGM dealer contract at the NIKKO hotel in Chicago. We became the first PARADIGM dealer in the state of Ohio. We ve been selling PARADIGM speakers ever since. Fast forward to 2013, and we received one pair of the 15 pairs (hand made pre-production models) of the PARADIGM Tribute for all of North America. In the twenty-five years I ve been selling PARADIGM, I think this is one of the most significant speakers that PARADIGM has ever made. - Art DeLorenzo The beryllium tweeter and midrange driver have a marriage that is nothing short of incredible. They blend perfectly. The sound is very smooth and open. To me PARADIGM s always sounded good on really well recorded rock and funky jazz, but these speakers have a certain soulfulness that pulls you in. They sound really good on anything.
You can sit off-axis, and the magic still works. You don t have to try hard to love these speakers. They just work. They still have the PARADIGM feel, but they ve really polished it. Tribute. That s the word. This speaker is a tribute to what PARADIGM is all about and as a company, epitomizes. The Tribute showcases everything they ve learned along the way. I think the Tribute sounds far above its price. Just like the Titan s did at the NIKKO Hotel in 87. And for what it s worth, that s my kind of Tribute. Art DeLorenzo, Genesis Audio Ltd.
The F208 is in so many ways, superior to my personal favorite, the F52. And they do it for less money. Well done REVEL. Don Schmitt, Store Manager, Genesis Audio Ltd.
We have made a number of advancements in loudspeaker materials and manufacturing technologies that we are now able to incorporate into the upgraded Performa3 models. said Jim Garrett, Senior Manager, Marketing for HARMAN Luxury Audio Group While this statement may sound like the usual press release... It isn t. REVEL is part of Harman International, a 4 Billion Dollar company, fielding brands such as Harman Kardon, Infinity, and JBL Pro. Harman s resources are unlike any other manufacturer in the high-end audio category. Deep pockets? Very deep. Own some of the most advanced consumer electronics manufacturing facilities in the world? Absolutely! Access to recognized audio engineers from both professional and consumer electronic backgrounds? Without peer. That adds up to a proven design team with the world s best research, engineering, and manufacturing resources. REVEL is a speaker line from parents that have the keys to what must be the most well-equipped speaker design facility in the world.
REVEL s replacement line for the Performa2 series, the new REVEL Performa3 comprises nine models, ranging from $1,000 to $5,000. The key to REVEL models is simple: F=Floorstanding, M=Monitor/Bookshelf, C=Center, and S=Surround and B for subwoofer. The numbers indicate the number and size of the largest driver. PERSONAL PERSPECTIVE Performa3 - F208 Don Schmitt - Store Manager When I listen, my personal gauge of speakers is the soundstage: width, depth, height. And compared to the older REVEL F32/52 models, the soundstage on the 208 s is significantly wider and deeper. The 208 s create a precise soundfield, in a well resolved 3D space. One of my favorite reference recordings is Nik Bärtsch s Ronin, a live recording. This recording really presents a good soundfield where everything is laid out really well. This Swiss jazz band has a style that s both dynamic and percussive with piano, bass, drums and woodwinds. The music s attack and dynamics are portrayed really well, and that is hard to do. The high frequencies are definitely better and more revealing on certain instruments. Interestingly, the tweeters, while they are definitely more revealing, are less aggressive than the F32/52 even though they re using an aluminum alloy dome. I think they have more of the beryllium sound of the Ultima s.
Personally, my feeling is that the F208 s are Mini Ultima s. I really think you d be hard pressed to match these for under 10 grand. Finish wise, I really like the dark walnut. It s not the traditional walnut, it has a more 21st century finish with the curved shape, warmth of the walnut and the automotive high gloss. Sonically, the Performa3 s are closer to the Salon 2 s than the Performa2 s. The Ultima Salon2 have more smoothness in the high frequencies, but the Performa3 s are close behind. If I didn t own the Ultima Studio 2 s, I would be looking at the F208 s, they re that good!
Just like the REVEL Ultima speakers, to achieve superior sound quality, Revel Performa3 loudspeakers implement proprietary drivers throughout. The 1-inch pure-aluminum-dome tweeters deliver airy, extended highfrequency response to beyond 20kHz, with superlative detail. The tweeters operate into an exclusive Acoustic Lens Waveguide precisely shaped for optimum imaging and horizontal and vertical dispersion both on-and off axis.
The midrange and low-frequency drivers employ aluminum cones for increased resolution and responsiveness, along with a seamless sonic blend with the aluminum alloy tweeters. The cones have integral ribs (shown here) that add strength and rigidity for clear, richly detailed sound with reduced distortion even at higher volumes.
NOTE: This is a six inch woofer - with a magnet structure almost as large in diameter as the cone! The drivers incorporate additional refinements including cast-aluminum frames and efficiently vented, highpower motor structures, to deliver smooth, natural vocal and instrumental reproduction.
Only the finest materials and internal components have been used for Revel Performa3 loudspeakers, including air-core inductors and audiophile-grade polypropylene capacitors in the crossover network, and heavy-duty gold-plated binding posts. Depending on the model, a tweeter level control allows the speakers high-frequency balance to be fine-tuned, and a Boundary control enables the speakers to be tailored to individual room acoustics and placement positions.
The enclosures are built to the highest standards, with internal damping and bracing at critical locations and curved side panels that minimize cabinetinduced coloration. The larger models feature, sub-enclosures for the midrange drivers for maximum midrange clarity and definition. Revel Performa3 loudspeakers are visually stunning in appearance in a rich high gloss North American Walnut or high gloss piano black. STOP IN and have a look and a listen!
