WHY BUILD A GREEN ROOF? STORM WATER MANAGEMENT Vegetative roofs reduce the amount of storm water runoff while also moderating the temperature of the water and acting as natural filters. AMENITY SPACE Vegetative roofs can create readily accessible green environments for residents and workers, and offer playground space at urban schools and childcare facilities. MUNICIPAL ECONOMIC INCENTIVES A rapidly growing number of municipalities are offering financial incentives for building owners who install vegetative roofs. INCREASED PROPERTY VALUE Having a view of a green roof and access to the green roof both can significantly raise property values. As urbanization increases, so does the desire for green space. ºF URBAN HEAT ISLAND EFFECT MITIGATION Providing shade and removing heat from the air through evaportranspiration, vegetative roofs are able to significantly lower the air temperature above the roof surface. INTERIOR NOISE REDUCTION Growing medium blocks lower frequencies; plants block higher frequencies; and the mass created by a vegetative roof serves as a sound dampener for the interior space.

Extensive BIP Systems MEDIA DEPTH: LESS THAN 6" This meadow-like, easy-to-install system is the most commonly used vegetative roof in North America. GREAT FOR: Roofs with limited load bearing capacity Visible or non-visible roof surfaces Satisfying specific engineering and performance goals Meeting and/or exceeding stormwater retention requirements VEGETATION & PLANTING OPTIONS Increase diversity or meet a specific design pattern by adding accents species to the base Sedum mix Many species of herbaceous perennials can provide color and texture (recommended planting ratio for Sedum to accents is 80 to 20) Beyond the recommended Sedum mat, additional extensive plant species are available in a variety of sizes to meet your design needs SYSTEM OPTIONS BASE Extensive Media Total E-Base 1 0.5" 3" 0.5" 4" 21 25 0.70 0.75 4.5" DESIGNER Extensive Media Total E-Design 1 1" 2.5" 0.5" 4" 20 23 0.70 0.75 4.5" E-Design 2 1" 4" 0.5" 5.5" 26 30 1.0 1.1 6.5" E-Design 3 1" 6" 0.5" 7.5" 38 44 1.4 1.5 8.5" EXTENSIVE BIP ACCESORIES Drainage boxes Irrigation Geofoam if needed to create topography
