Product Warnings Indicates a hazardous situation which, if not avoided, WILL result in death or serious injury. Indicates a hazardous situation which, if not avoided, COULD result in death or serious injury. Indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, may result in minor or moderate injury. Addresses practices not related to personal injury. Disconnect power and disable flow before maintenance. Keep all personnel out of the Danger Zone, in front of the outlet of the monitor when the water source is attached. Dangerous flow velocities can cause serious injury. Use only for firefighting by trained operators. Read and follow the operating instructions before use. The monitor uses current limiting for both the monitor and nozzle. Use only appropriate Akron Brass Company nozzles. Replace the identification tags if they should become worn or damaged. The monitor, nozzle, logic box, control box, tether controller, and field adjustable stops are made for optimal performance. Do not alter in any manner. The monitor was designed for use with the Akron nozzle. Use of any other nozzle could affect the speed or operation of the unit and should be tested before being put into service. During freezing conditions the monitor must be drained to prevent damage. Elevation and Rotation Joint Motor Drive Coupling Maintenance Instructions Rotation and Elevation Joint Motor Housing Removal:. Turn off power and lock out / tag out power switchgear.. For Zone & monitors, remove set screw from enclosure plug. 3. Unscrew enclosure plug (7) counterclockwise to remove. Page 6

4. Compare and note wiring configuration with diagram provided with kit. Cable Glands 5. Standard terminal layout for the rotation joint To Junction Box: Green, White, Orange, Yellow, Brown, Blue, Red, and Black. To Rotation Motor: Black, Blue, Grey, Green or Green/Yellow To Elevation Motor: Green, White, Orange, Blue, Red, and Black Page 7

6. Standard terminal block layout for the elevation joint To Rotation Motor: Green, White, Orange, Blue, Red, and Black. To Elevation Motor: Green or Green/Yellow, Grey, Blue, and Black To Nozzle Motor: Green, White, Red, and Black 7. Separate wire leads from terminal block coming into housing. Note position of cable glands and pull cables through cable glands. 8. Remove two motor cover bolts () 9. Unscrew motor cover (9) counterclockwise from housing adapter. 0. Remove seven socket head cap screws (33 and 34) from housing adapter (). Page 8

. Insert a /4 Allen wrench into the override socket and turn clockwise to drive the worm and motor housing assembly from monitor.. Remove four bolts (33) from housing adapter and pull out motor. 3. Remove old coupling from motor shaft by loosening set screw, pulling off coupling, and set aside. Do not discard drive key (05), it must be reused. 4. On the output shaft (8), remove the thrust bearing (), washers (), and worm gear (0). Remove drive key (9) from shaft. Do not discard. All components must be reused. 5. Pull output shaft through housing adapter. Do not lose the thrust bearing and washers, these must be reused. Page 9

6. Remove old coupling from output shaft by loosening set screw and pulling off coupling. Do not discard drive key (05), it must be reused. 7. A) For Standard Monitors (Zone and ), install the new 5/8 bore coupling (7) onto the output shaft so that the shaft is flush with the coupling hub. Use Permabond LM3 or Loctite on the set screw threads. B) For Non rotating hand wheel Zone, Zone &, Stainless steel monitors, install the new / bore coupling (7) onto the output shaft so that the shaft projects /3 through the coupling hub. Use Permabond LM3 or Loctite on the set screw threads. Page 0

8. For Non rotating hand wheel Zone, Zone &, Stainless steel monitors, install the thrust washer () from field service kit on output shaft, behind coupling as shown. Apply lubriplate or mobilith SHC 460 grease to both sides of the washer. 9. A) For Standard Monitors (Zone and ), install the new 3/4 bore coupling (5) onto the motor shaft. Motor shaft should project 5/6 through the coupling. Use Permabond LM3 or Loctite on the set screw threads. Page

B) For Non rotating hand wheel Zone, Zone &, Stainless steel monitors, install the new 3/4 bore coupling (5) onto the motor shaft. Motor shaft should project 3/3 through the coupling. Use Permabond LM3 or Loctite on the set screw threads. 0. Place coupling spider (6) onto motor coupling.. Place output shaft onto motor coupling and spider. Page

. Insert the motor + coupling + output shaft into the housing adapter 3. Apply Lubriplate or Mobilith SHC 460 grease to the output shaft. Reinstall the thrust washer, thrust bearing, and thrust washer as shown. Apply grease to each component. 4. Install the drive key (9) for the worm gear and install the worm gear (0). 5. Install the thrust washer, thrust bearing, and thrust washer onto the output shaft. Apply Lubriplate or Mobilith SHC 460 grease to each component. Page 3

6. Install the new O-ring (43) on housing adapter. 7. Insert motor housing assembly back into monitor. Use /4 Allen wrench in the override socket and turn counterclockwise to drive the worm and motor housing assembly into the monitor. 8. Install seven socket head cap screws into housing adapter. The shorter screw (34) is for the blind hole in the casting. Use Permabond LM3 or Loctite on the screw threads. Outlet Elbow: This hole receives short screw

Inlet Elbow: This hole receives short screw 9. Attach motor cover onto housing adapter by rotating it clockwise. Tighten until cable glands and housing bolt tabs line up with housing adapter as noted in step 4. 30. Install two motor cover bolts (). Use Permabond LM3 or Loctite on the screw threads. 3. Insert cables through cable glands. Attach wire leads to terminal block. 3.
