The green cart is for recyclables only. Recycling not only conserves precious natural resources, but also helps to reduce Your yellow-lid cart is for recylables only. costs by decreasing the amount of materials that must be placed in the landfill; please recycle everything you can. Note: Do NOT place TRASH in your new green Recycle cart. If you require more than one recycle container, please call 1-800-972-4545. Your recycling container should be placed curbside every other week on the same day as your regular trash collection. You do not need to sort your recyclables. Leave 3 feet between your recycle cart and solid waste when placing them curbside, to allow the truck to collect both easily. 4. Tips for the best service Care and use of your recycle cart: - Always keep the lid closed to keep rain, snow and animals out. - Do not place any unacceptable materials in the cart. - Use the handle provided to move the cart. Tilt the cart on its wheels to roll it. Remember that it s easier to pull the cart uphill and push it downhill. - Remove your cart as soon as possible after collection to maintain the appearance of your neighborhood. - Clean your cart periodically by rinsing it with water and letting it dry in the sun with the lid open. There are currently no restrictions on street parking on collection days. Since automated waste collection requires clearance for the vehicle s lifting mechanism, any cars parked at the curb should be at least 5 feet from the trash cart. The placement of your trash barrel and your recycle cart are very important, since the collection vehicle s lifting arm requires clearance: 3 feet on both sides, and 12 feet overhead. Proper placement of your cart Place barrel and cart 3-4 feet apart. The carts should be no more than 3 feet away from the road s edge, with the arrow facing the road and the hinges facing away from the street, as shown here. cont d on pg. 2
