John Lake recognized by FFSA The Florida Fire Sprinkler Association recognized John Lake of Wiginton Fire Systems in Sanford, FL for his contributions to the Red/Green Tag matrix as well as NFPA 25. John has been very active on a committee to help educate both contractors and AHJ s across the state and was instrumental in getting the Annex E added to the 2011 edition of NFPA 25. Having John Lake in Florida is just one more reason why Florida shines across the United States as a leader in the fire sprinkler industry. Russ Fleming at World Golf Village NFSA s newly elected President, Russ Fleming opened up the Spring 2012 conference with an exciting outlook into NFSA. He discussed his vision for our industry and how to create a positive momentum during the current economic climate. President Fleming talked about a fresh start at NFSA and how this will impact our members. It was a very positive and upbeat opening to what turned out to be a great week at World Golf Village in St. Augustine, FL. The conference offered beneficial content and was tremendously successful in the continued education of pertinent information to our Florida contractors. June 19, 2012-Periodic Inspection, Testing and Maintenance of Standpipe Systems Basic Bernie Arends Standpipes are often neglected in the periodic inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems. However, this key component is crucial to the firefighting tactics in multi-story structures and can dramatically impede efforts if the standpipe system is not functioning properly. This seminar will review the requirements of NFPA 25, Chapter 6, that deal with the upkeep for standpipe systems to operate effectively. To register for these classes please go to www.nfsa.org.
