SmartSensor 105 & Advance NEMA External Ice Test Report Wavetronix products mentioned: SmartSensor 105 SmartSensor Advance As contracted by Wavetronix, Environ Laboratories LLC performed a NEMA external ice test on the SmartSensor 105 on April 7, 2003. Since the SmartSensor 105 and SmartSensor Advance use the same hardware platform, this report applies to both products. The following report documents the results of the test and is unedited by Wavetronix. Environ Laboratories LLC 9725 Girard Avenue South Minneapolis, Minnesota 55431-2621 WX-501-0032

PREPARED FOR: WAVETRONIX, LLC 5314 NORTH 250 WEST PROVO, UT 84604 ATTN: Mr. Don Christensen TEST DATES: Start: 4/7/2003 Completion: 4/7/2003 ENVIRON TEST NO.: 29577-1 PURCHASE ORDER NO.: 4435 PURCHASE DATE: 3/19/2003 EXTERNAL ICING TEST 1.0 ABSTRACT 1.1 Object Subject one (1) Enclosure to an External Icing Test in accordance with NEMA 250, Section 5.6, dated 1997. 1.2 Conclusions Upon completion of the exposure the test unit showed no signs of damage or degradation. The test unit met the passing requirements of NEMA 250 for Type 6P Enclosures. 2.0 UNIT(S) TESTED MANUFACTURER: DEVICE: MODEL/PART NO.: WAVETRONIX, LLC Enclosure Smart Sensor Housing SERIAL NO.: ----- The results of this test apply only to the units identified in this Engineering Report by device identifier and model / part number, or serial number. 3.0 TEST REQUESTED Subject the test unit to the following Icing Test: NEMA 250, Section 5.6 5.6.1 The enclosure shall to be mounted in a room that can be cooled to 20 F (minus 6.7 C). A metal test bar, which is 25.4 mm in diameter and 600 mm long, shall be mounted in a horizontal position in a location where it will receive the same general water spray as the enclosure under test. Provisions are to be made for spraying the entire enclosure from above with water at an angle of approximately 45 degrees from the vertical. The water shall be 32 37 F. Spraying facilities that provide 1 2 gallons per hour per square foot of area to be sprayed have been found effective. The room temperature is to be lowered to 35 F. The water spray shall be started and continued for 1 hour, maintaining the room temperature between 33 F and 37 F. At the end of this time the room temperature shall be lowered to between 20 F and 27 F while continuing the water spray. The water spray is to be controlled as to cause ice to build up on the bar at a rate of approximately ¼ inch per hour and is to be continued until ¾ inch of ice has formed on the top surface of the bar. The spray is then to be discontinued, but the room temperature is to be maintained at 20 27 F for 3 additional hours so that all parts of the enclosure and ice coating have reached the same temperature. 4.0 INSTRUMENTATION, PROCEDURE AND RESULTS 4.1 Instrumentation All instrumentation is calibrated regularly by instruments directly traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology, and in accordance with MIL-I-45208A, ANSI/NCSL Z540-1-1994 and ISO/IEC 17025:1999. Equipment Number Description Manufacturer Model No. Last Calibration Due Calibration Range 200-139 Temperature Chart Recorder Honeywell Truline DR45AT 1/22/2003 7/22/2003-110 to +300 F; 0 to 100% RH 200-140 Temperature Controller Watlow 922 4/27/2001 4/27/2003-99.9 to +392.5 F 400-023 Stopwatch Radio Shack 63-5014 5/16/2002 5/16/2003 0 to 10 Hours 500-029 Temperature/ Humidity Chamber Thermotron WD-384-20- 25 N/A N/A -100 to +350 F; 20 to 99% RH 4.2 Procedure The test unit was mounted onto a post and placed into a temperature chamber in a manner to simulate actual installation. A 1-inch metal bar 2 feet long was then mounted near the test unit. A spraying system was then placed above the test unit and bar at an angle of 45. The internal chamber temperature was lowered to 35 F and the test unit was sprayed with water for a period of 1 hour. With the water still spraying the chamber temperature was lowered to 20 F and ice was allowed to start forming on the test unit and bar. The ice buildup was allowed to continue at a rate of ¼ inch per hour for 3 hours for a total of ¾ inch of ice buildup. The water spray was then discontinued and the test unit was held at 20 F for an additional 3 hours before a visual inspection was conducted. The chamber was then returned to ambient conditions and the test unit was again inspected. ENVIRON LABORATORIES LLC Page 5 of 8

4.3 Results Upon completion of the exposure the test unit showed no signs of damage or degradation. The test unit met the passing requirements of NEMA 250 for Type 6P Enclosures. ENVIRON LABORATORIES LLC Page 6 of 8
