INTERREG VOLUNTEER YOUTH (IVY) Part of Started on 1 March 2017 1-year pilot action Co-funded by the European Commission s Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy (European Regional Development Fund ERDF) Managed by the Association of European Border Regions (AEBR) Target: EU citizens (18-30 years old) Host organisations: Interreg Programmes & Projects Each experience is between 2 and 6-month long All volunteers are financially supported and insured

What is Interreg? "European Territorial Cooperation"(ETC) and is part of the so-called "Cohesion Policy" of the European Union A way to get European regions closer to each other and to boost their cooperation. Why? To promote a harmonious economic, social and territorial development of the European Union as a whole To support cooperation between partners across borders To tackle common challenges together and find shared solutions - whether in the field of health, research and education, transport or sustainable energy.

How? Interreg is built around 3 strands of cooperation: Cross-border (Interreg A) for border regions (for example, Friuli Venezia Giulia Region in Italy and Primorska Region in Slovenia) Transnational (Interreg B) involves regions from several countries of the EU forming bigger areas (for example, Portugal, Spain and Southern France) Interregional (Interreg C) works at pan-european level, covering all EU Member States, and more.

IVY: 2 ways of volunteering 1. Interreg Reporter Hosted by the Interreg Managing Authority and/or the Interreg Joint Secretariat (i.e. at Interreg Programme level) Helps with disseminating information on the benefit of European territorial integration on the ground, through reporting successful Interreg projects 2. Interreg Project Partner Deployed in the territory of one of the Interreg Project Beneficiaries Helps with Interreg project implementation focusing on specific aspects or difficulties to be solved in fields such as solidarity projects, people to people projects, health projects, community-based projects, projects focusing on the social dimension of Interreg cooperation

Host Organisations Why joining? What to expect? To give the right attention and visibility to successful Interreg stories and thus get the right support from EU citizens, governments and institutions to keep crossborder cooperation and related funding as a crucial part of European Integration. To support your Interreg activities in a unique and valuable way by providing a fresh, dynamic and effective approach to the implementation & communication of Interreg results. To increase your visibility towards European, national and local decision-makers, the other Interreg Programmes & Projects as well as the broader European public and especially young Europeans. To make a difference in some young Europeans lives Because it is very easy to join the initiative Make Interreg and its solidarity/cooperation dimension more visible among EU citizens. Make IVY a valuable and unique experience of personal growth for the volunteer who will gain useful knowledge and skills that can be employed in his/her future experiences.

Volunteers Why joining? Volunteers will acquire a unique experience of personal growth, engaging within a certain European community and getting the chance to express your solidarity and feel rewarded. What to expect? To make European Territorial Cooperation (the so-called Interreg ) and its solidarity/cooperation dimension more visible among EU citizens. How to apply?
