Industrial Scientific Corporation offers this two-day workshop specifically designed to take the guesswork out of gas detection. The seminars are conducted by Industrial Scientific's training staff who have expertise in instrument applications, government regulations, firefighting, hazardous materials remediation and confined space entry. These workshops provide the attendee the necessary skills to recognize gas characteristics and potential hazards in the workplace. Metering/Confined Space Simulator Class Prepared for the people who use gas detection equipment, the new Industrial Scientific Corporation Metering Class will answer the questions about proper gas detection in both confined spaces and hazardous locations. This class will also prepare you to organize equipment and personnel for a confined space entry project. Know what you need and how to use it. Hazardous Gases - Learn about the common gases associated with confined spaces. Discover their sources and the proper ways to detect them. Review the classification of hazardous areas as described by the National Electrical Code (NEC) Confined Space Review - Look into the Federal Regulations on confined spaces. During class you will fill out all of the necessary paperwork that is required by law. Also learn about information tracking ideas that keep you safe and within federal guidelines. Gas Detection Equipment - Once you have reviewed the laws and know what gases my be present in your confined space, pick the proper gas detection equipment for your application. Learn the limitations of gas detection equipment, it's proper preparation and use. Metering/Confined Space April 24-25 June 12-13 2006 DATES August 21-22 October 23-24 Technician Training Class The Repair Technician Class is geared towards field level technicians, and will provide the skills to repair itx, T80 & T82, 300, 400 and 600 series instruments. Sampling pumps and the DS1000 and DS2 Docking Stations are also covered. Important Note: there will be NO board level repairs taught. This training will cover sensor, filter, water barrier and gasket replacement, PC board exchange, and micro updates. No schematics will be distributed. We do distribute guidelines and procedures for repairs only. This training is recommended for all technicians who are responsible for repairing and maintaining Industrial Scientific instruments. We welcome all customers and distributors. Previous gas detection knowledge is recommended. Technician 2006 DATES OAKDALE, PA February 6-7 April 3-4 June 5-6 August 7-8 October 9-10 December 4-5 The agenda will consist of sensor technology, operations, maintenance, troubleshooting and calibration. A tour of both buildings and a special Q & A session with a Repair Department's technician will conclude the training session. For pricing details please see previous page. Other necessary Equipment - Gas detection is not the only equipment you will need to properly enter a confined space. Discussions on ventilation equipment, fall and retrieval equipment including winches, tripods, harnesses and other PPE. If the atmosphere cannot be completely stabilized requirements for breathing apparatus may be needed. A complete listing of equipment needed to properly outfit employees for entry in to confined spaces will be discussed. Job Assignment - Learn every level of work assignments associated with Confined Space Entry. Supervisor, Attendant, Entrant, each person has assigned responsibilities. Prepare yourself to do your job safely every time. Hands-on Training - Hearing about the proper ways to do things is only a step in the right direction. Make the journey and learn more. The second day of the Metering Class is all practical applications. Get your hands dirty using the skills discussed the first day by taking gas samples and setting up a confined space entry location using the Confined Space Simulator that is on-site for this training. Full use of ventilation, breathing air, tripods and fall protection is available. Complete confined space exercises are conducted and upon completion are evaluated by all of the attendees.
