Driving retail excellence Retail security: it s all about store performance Safer. Smarter. Tyco.

Taking Retail to the Next Level Changing shopper habits and expectations are presenting retailers with new challenges as they look for ways to create an engaging customer experience while improving store performance. As retailers focus on refining the in-store experience, their loss prevention systems and processes must be effective enough to deter shoplifters, but subtle enough to provide a pleasant shopping experience for consumers. Shrink continues to be a major challenge for retailers and presents them with a dilemma: should they openly merchandise items to maximise customer convenience and sales; or should they locate them behind display cases to protect them from theft, but run the risk of alienating the customer. Retailers address this problem with electronic article surveillance (EAS) technology that stops shoplifters and also provides a meaningful deterrent. Recently, losses from shoplifting have been exacerbated by rising levels of organised retail crime, which includes professional shoplifting, cargo theft and retail crime rings that are highly effective and well trained. However, retailers recognise that inventory loss is only part of the challenge affecting profitability. Shrink also affects retailers indirectly creating out-of-stocks that detract from the shopper experience. Retailers must also address poor inventory management and inefficient operations. Today retailers are investing in solutions that go beyond loss prevention to reduce costs, improve product availability and enhance the customer shopping experience. They are looking for solutions that provide intelligence at the store and enterprise level by capturing, analysing and reporting real time data from stores, employees, inventory and shoppers. A new generation of scalable and interconnected systems are being deployed that focus on merchandise optimisation, traffic management, inventory intelligence and improving store operations. Do you care about green retailing? Today s shoppers and retailers care about protecting the environment and this has impacted how retailers approach security and store operations. At the heart of Tyco s Vital World initiative is a companywide goal to reduce emissions, water use and waste gen eration. Tyco Integrated Fire & Security constantly monitors its own performance across its facilities and fleets and strives to improve the environmental performance of its product portfolio. Tyco pioneered source-tag recirculation and has reduced the energy requirements of many of its EAS products. When it comes to shrink, shoplifting is the most significant challenge facing retailers and includes a growing threat from organised retail crime. Benefits include: // Increasing shopper conversion // Optimising queue management // Tracking customer dwell times // Ensuring promotional compliance 04 // Retail solutions

Tyco s store performance and security solutions reach across a broad array of mission-critical retail operations. Whether your objective is to minimise shrink, increase conversion rates, optimise inventory, drive employee productivity, or enhance overall store performance, our goal is to integrate the information from multiple sources across the store in a meaningful way that will drive improvements. Tyco s loss prevention portfolio is based on the innovative Sensor matic branded EAS solutions which deliver superior performance, boasting the highest detection rates of stolen goods in the industry. Our dual technology Visible Source Tag (VST) delivers both EAS and item level intelligence through RFID capabilities. Combining these capabilities in a single tag means we can protect retailers investment in EAS while delivering more intelligence that helps retailers to gain better visibility into their inventories, increase operational efficiencies and improve store performance. Tyco offers an inventory intelligence suite that includes inventory visibility, asset management, and analytics tools designed for retailers. Inventory intelligence gives retailers greater insight into what stock is where, both in the supply chain and on the shop floor, that improves accuracy and reduces out-of-stocks. When it comes to improving the shopper experience our traffic intelligence solutions and video analytics enable retailers to optimise queue management as well as provide valuable insight into shopper behaviour and dwell times. In the area of store performance, Tyco s integrated Store Performance Solution (SPS) marks a paradigm shift in the retail sector, providing a platform that allows retailers to automate insight gathering in the store where they interact directly with their customers. For retailers who do not have the expert staff Tyco also offers the SPS as a hosted solution. This provides rapid benefits, keeps costs low and flexibility high, requires minimal staff training and can be the first step towards an in-house solution. Let s talk about it! Inventory intelligence Tyco inventory visibility solutions help retailers drive significant improvements, enabling them to achieve up to 95 % inventory accuracy and improve overall retail execution. Retailers can gain key operational insights throughout the supply chain that deliver critical business intelligence to store managers and corporate decision makers. Benefits include: // Reducing out-of-stocks // Improving inventory accuracy // Enabling new merchandising strategies // Increasing customer satisfaction Store Execution Our new class of solutions allow retailers to break down the walls between retail functions, creating a truly integrated real-time store execution environment to deliver substantial improvements in enterprise-wide store performance. Benefits include: // Capturing and interpreting data from multiple sources // Making real time decisions // Improving operational effectiveness // Driving revenue and profitability 05 // Retail solutions

An Intelligent Future Tyco continues to innovate and develop its portfolio so that retailers can be certain they will be at the forefront of the industry, helping them to improve their operations into the future. Looking to the future there s no doubt that retailers will need to continue to adapt their businesses as technology advances and shopping habits change. Research shows that today s consumers want to be able to access information on a brand through many different channels including online, catalogue, social media and in-store, but prefer to pick up the goods in-store. This is omnichannel retailing. It recognises the compelling physical and interpersonal advantages of stores, yet places shoppers, not stores, at the centre. Omni channel retailing extends traditional measurements like in-store sales to include revenue per shopper, measured across all retail channels. Mobile and location-based e-commerce are the latest trends to impact retailing. Smart mobile devices bring opportunities into the store in the form of locationbased services to help consumers find items, in-store navigation services to make browsing easier, and roaming smart terminals that free sales assistants from fixed stations to bring information and trans actions directly to the shopper. Keeping availability promises for shoppers across channels will depend not only on integrated IT systems but on reliable inputs and outputs to those systems. Retailers who succeed at integrating their inventory intelligence for shoppers, staff and managers will be able to cut costs, respond rapidly to changing conditions and drive good quality information back into the supply chain, aligning it with the demands of shoppers. Integrated inventory intelligence is essential to delivering on the omnichannel promise and it prepares retailers for the future by eliminating islands of information, adapting quickly to new processes and technologies, and keeping costs and waste low. Source tagging recirculation Using Tyco s source tagging retailers can improve supply chain and selling floor efficiencies. When source tagging is implemented retailers can reduce the time taken to attach tags in-store and free up staff to focus on servicing shoppers and making sales. The recirculation programme delivers further cost and environmental benefits and enables more accurate on-shelf inventory. Tags are applied at the manufacturing source, before being shipped to stores. Once tags are taken off the item they are reset by Tyco and then shipped back to the manufacturer to be reused. In conjunction with Tyco, our parent company, we ve just hit the industry milestone of tagging over 2 billion consumer items for retailers globally with our reusable hard tag. 06 // Retail solutions

Our Solutions At work Tyco s loss prevention and store performance solutions have been designed specifically for retailers to help them improve operations, optimise profitability and create memorable shopper experiences. Working with Tyco // National retail chain A major Dutch national retail chain, imple mented an Tyco analytics tool to capture and provide in-depth business intelligence. The retailer needed a solution to process and analyse vast quantities of data from POS transactions. At its heart, Key Perfor mance Indicators (KPIs) allow store managers to sort, filter and score data from one centralised application for analysis. Tyco s solutions are then able to quickly and simply identify critical areas of oper ation that are in need of attention and im prove ment such as recognising employees in need of additional training, benefiting both the business and its customers. // Perfume retailer An Italian perfume retailer, with 120 retail locations, chose Tyco for its integrated loss prevention and people counting solutions. Tyco s Sensormatic EAS provided robust and innovative loss prevention solutions alongside new store performance systems. Tyco s integrated theft detection helps to reduce theft and shrinkage and improve over all profitability, whilst the traffic intelligence application provides dynamic, real-time footfall updates from a centralised server, allowing the retailer to act on live data for targeted point of sale, shopper behaviour monitoring and efficient distribution of employees to precisely where they are most needed. This creates a tailored and positive customer experience. In this world of uncertainties, it s reassuring to know that, with Tyco, retail businesses large and small have a partner capable of providing world class security and performance solutions designed for the retail industry. We work hard to identify the key business challenges you face and assess how our retail portfolio can help you meet them.
